It all happened so fast for me once I got there anyway I am just glad I had the nurses! Just end up with a healthy baby!!! Best goal. It was very scary for me for a while!! I had several friends go very early while I was pregnant, like under two pounds. Terrifying! Case was just under five lbs and I thought he was gonna break and thank god we got him out when we did as my placenta was broken down and tearing from the preaclampsia. I know people who got caught up in their birth plan and forgot the point of healthy baby. Trust the staff some. We all cry in the hospital when we here the code pinks and the bad outcomes. It's one thing I don't like about working there :(

If you feel in charge, you feel confident and excited! If you feel it's bigger than you and a passive experience then that must be terrifying.....! And going into birth terrified simply can't be helpful!!!

Dizzy, that's a great philosophy and I couldn't agree more. :) I would really , really love to do a natural birth if all possible. Hell my ma ma did it so can I.

I'm watching a series called midwives shot in the uk. And it is very interesting. I love how the women are not hooked up and give birth as natural as possible, being it is in a hospital. And it's the midwives who do most of the work. Drs are called if there is a issue.
 
In the UK you ONLY see a doctor if you're high risk. I saw one to get the all clear to fly after I'd bled in first tri. If you're low risk it's all midwife led. Even birth!

I literally saw my doctor when I got a positive test and he gave me the number to self refer to my midwife. I've seen her for every appointment. And as I may not go to hospital she might even deliver my baby. If she's on call lol if I go to hospital there's midwives based there.

We have appointments every so many weeks (getting closer together as you go on). Two scans. A couple of blood tests to check iron levels etc. Downs testing if you want it. Other than that I think they just do your blood pressure, urine tests and fundal height. They don't measure hormone levels or anything in early pregnancy. Don't do viability scans (we did get private scans as we wanted to!).

But like I said earlier it can vary on location as to what service you get, pressure you get put under, advice you're given etc etc etc. Often each health authority has its own policies.
 
I haven't watched that series! Have you watched one born every minute? That's another one :) my midwife said she can't watch them as it drives her mad all the women are in bed on their backs and she wants to get them all upright and moving lol

Gah, I can't believe how big Clarissa is getting. All the Chaz babies are growing up so far.

Right there with you, though I'm waiting 6 more weeks to let everything get back to normal after the IUD before we stop preventing completely. Crazy feeling isn't it?!
 
Sorry I just keep coming in here and throwing questions at you guys! We probably won't try until late next year, but I feel the absolute need to get all the ducks in a row NAO.

S'cuse my baby crazy self.

I am on Lexapro and now another Cat. C drug...anyone else have to deal with having to go off them or switch meds, etc?
 
Less than a week till D day. I'm sure I'm supposed to be feeling crap or something. Pregnancy is awesome, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's totally life changing in lots of good ways :) I could be pregnant a few more months and be ok with that, but I do kind of want to experience birth and meet this tiny human I've been making! Come on baby :)
 
Come on D-day :) It's kind of neat, that last year we were going thru the exact same thing. He wasn't due till Jan, but we though he might be the last week of December, so we were on watch :) He wasn't born till the 11th, so in a month he'll be a year.

Get ready to really enjoy life!

Oh my goodness, already?? I am so excited and over joyed for you. I will be wishing you a peaceful, un eventful delivery. And of course a very healthy baby

This is my biggest concern about conceiving in the future. I'm on Lexapro and love it and quite frankly need it to be balanced but I'd also like to be a mom one day.

So exciting!!! I loved being pregnant as well; it was an amazing experience. I'm looking forward to going through the experience again someday!

Someone was unhappy about being poked by the tech, but this is the first picture we've really gotten to see her face! She should be here in about a week... I'M SO EXCITED!

Yup. I was on trileptal and cymbalta when I got pregnant. At 5 weeks pregnant, I weaned off my meds in one week. Withdrawal was rather unpleasant (horrendous heart palpitations, vertigo, etc.). It didn't last too long, though. I went on the same meds about 5 months after giving birth, and they worked the same. I had zero symptoms of my mental illness during pregnancy. I don't think everyone gets that lucky.

My plan for the next baby is to switch to a safer mood stabilizer which I've been on in the past while I ttc, and go off it once I get a pos. test.

Lillian has a birthmark (an aplasia) on her head which I am 100% sure is due to the meds! even thought the doctors won't say it (they don't want me to feel guilty). I'm very lucky she only has a small cosmetic mark and nothing more serious.
