I do have to say one thing though, I don't think it matters what Puck and his family do with their own money- it is not like him and Sparks post thread after thread about how they want sympathy because they can't make ends meet, they can't buy dog food, or provide basic veterinary care. It is none of our business.
Yeah, this. Who cares what you could've bought with the money

I still like Canada's chocolate-portion-sizes better. Glad my 1.06 kg of yummy Cadbury goodness threatened your patriotism so much that you had to make a thread mimicking it. ;)

But I will say it's a very pretty gun. Here's mine - not as flashy, but it'll put a grapefruit-sized hole through anyone that breaks into my house and manages to get past the Dobermans and Attack Corgi... ;)

Nice pickup Puck. I still prefer the Aks over the ARs.

If memory serves correctly, couldnt Canadians get the Russian SVDs and ChiCom M16 clones when we in the USA couldnt?

People can correct me, but I think the point is that the thread was made to stir the pot. The fact that its a hey look at what I bought for "xx" dollars and 'My country is better than your country and you are all idiots for having different values that me'.. and wondering what this has to do with a dog forum?

Perhaps they started comparing what dog type things one could spend that money on because this is a dog forum.

since when does every conversation here relate to a dog forum? if it was in dog general OK but it's in the fire hydrant... why would anyone think the thread would pertain to dogs and a dog forum?

the price was brought up because it's an extremely good deal for that rifle. that rifle normally runs around $1500 if I'm not mistaken

I didn't say it was wrong or right. But someone asked why people might be making the comparison between what they would do with that much money and it ending up being about dogs...

lol it is a dog forum ;) People tend to be interested in dog things.

I notice the ones that do not care and think the Canadians are overreacting... are Americans.
Like Dekka said, the fact was that he came on and said "haha look what I could buy, you Canadians are stupid for not having the same values as I do". I know that if a Canadian came on and starting putting down Americans, they would be jumped on as well -- it has happened.

**Ooooh, I must snag a shot of my prettiness gun! Because, um, let's face it: Ophie and Luke aren't going to attack sh!t. Unless it's a hotdog (Ophie) or a squirrel (Luke).:rofl1:**

I could probably count on my tortoise to be scarier than my dogs.:lol-sign:

Here's Ben's gun. Well, his hand gun. He has a rifle (or 2 or 3? can't remember) as well, but I'm not going to take pictures of that.

Sizzle, who would get past the Dobes lol?
Okay, I wanted to post something funny, and that was an utter fail. Do.Not.Google."Sausage.Monster".Ever.

Well, I agree with you that the thread was done to stir the pot, especially since it is so similar to the one Sizzle posted, but hey, some Americans are awfully sensitive with their patriotism :p, and personally, I'd be perfectly happy(er) in a country where it wasn't so available for the general public. And, of course, I am not American.

However, I don't see the connection with what he could have bought for the money he spent on the gun? That is a completely different topic.. to me, at least. Now, if Sparks or Puck would be whining every month that they couldn't make ends meet- I'd suggest maybe splurging less on unnecessary items. And even then, it wouldn't be my business.

I don't want to fan the flames, honestly, but I don't think this thread/forum is representative of Americans as a whole in regard to guns (or politics, lol). Just felt the need to say that. :)

OK, I think we can nip some of this nonsense in the bud right here. Consider this a responce to the numerous posts that assume this...

The thread title was NOT an attempt to stir the pot. I saw another thread wit ha similar title, that had a humours jive to it, and thought that my title would have been taken in similar fashion.

That is where things went horribly wrong....

You might want to go re-read the OP. I was NOT fishing for this kind of a brew-ha. I really wasn't. Once there were some clever responces, things changed.

I'm sorry it went that way. Knowing my rep here, which I realize is often deserved, I should have titled this differently. So my apologies to all for that.

I didn't read those posts as saying that he shouldn't have spent his money on a 'toy'. I read it as people thinking whoa that is a fair bit of cash, what would I do with that much spare cash. And then talking about it, being a dog forum not surprising people talked about dog things.

Dan...

I know you love you some Kalashnikov. I'd probably like them more if my experience with them was not so negative. The examples I have used were all poorly maintained pieces of crap that we captured or recieved during "weapons harvests" in Bosnia.... GAR-BAGE. LOL PURELY a spray and pray weapon.

I went out this evening and put 100 rounds through it. Not a lot of proper shooting form going one there, just breaking it in. 3 good cleaning cycles and I will go zero it properly. THAT is where, in the AK vs. AR debate, the AR rules. :) (Yes, I know I have to clean it a lot to keep it happy...LOL)

It feel's more solid than some other AR's I have used. The upper and lower receivers fit very snug, I like that. Not as much noise from the recoil spring when shooting it.

So far, so good.

I think someone along said we as Canadians do not have to register long guns? I am not going to read back to find it, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong… But as of today, yes we DO have to register them…. or I should say are *supposed* to… It has been such a controversial issue that is still ongoing… Many have rebelled against it and tons, and tons are not yet registered… In our current Federal election it is a hot issue, with one party promising to eliminate it….

Stephen Harper’s Government has strongly and consistently op-posed the previous Liberal government’s 2-billion long-gun registry. The long-gun registry is wasteful and ineffective; and it needlesslyand unfairly targets law-abiding Canadians. t does nothing toreduce crime, or to strengthen our efforts to keep guns out of thehands of criminals.Unfortunately the Ignatieff-led Coalition with the NDP and Bloc Quebecois XEFRLVKDVÀHUFHO\UHVLVWHGHIIRUWVWRDEROLVKWKHORQJJXQUHJ-istry. They oppose our efforts to crack down on criminals who useguns, while insisting on heaping penalties on farmers andduck hunters. He will end the long-gun registry once and for all.
I hate our Long Arm gun laws…. I am NOT happy with this wasteful gun registry at ALL… I don't mind the restricted weapon registry, and understand it… The Long gun registry.. HATE it….

So… While I love my country, I DO NOT like our current gun laws….

Also, I don't think Puck was stirring here, I think it was an attempt at a funny play on the mini egg thread, that went over like a lead ballon…
