Ya that was the one useful thing Harper said in the debate. I don't know many who do register long guns, even though they are supposed to. Problem is that the majority of Canadian seem to want that.

Want what? Long guns?

Anyway, I don't have any pictures of my gun. It's just a little .22 single action revolver though. I do keep it loaded with magnum hollow points though. :p

Really? Because if I remember right, if a few members had not flipped and followed party lines instead of their constituents desires, it would be history… I believe highly populated cities, whose residents have never held or owned a gun, and associate all guns with the ones their local gang members have are the majority that are for gun control… They simply are scared of guns… and scream Control them all….

I know in my area, nearly everyone I talk to is opposed….

Domestic abuse, and murder as sad as it is, will not stop because the gun is registered…. I don't have the info to back this up, but I am willing to bet a HUGE majority of gun murders here are done by illegal, unregistered hand guns… Spending Billions to *tax* and register farmers and hunters will not stop that...

I get a kick out of it when they trot suicide numbers… Do they think suicides will be stopped because the gun is registered? Does the suicidal person go… Crap, can't use that.. It's registered….

Yes, most people around here (including me and most vehemently my hubby) also want the long gun registry scrapped. But more people live in cites than do in teh boonies. That way you get numbers like 65% (it was sixty something) support the registry.

Though to be fair I thought Duceppe had a good point, if you have to have a hunting licence, and a dog licence it makes sense to have a gun licence. Though I think the penalties and system suck.

Ours are all registered, even the .22's.

The majority of city people that I talk to are scared shitless of guns. They talk about them like they're ticking time bombs. Even those who want to get into hunting!!!

ETA haha I actually wrote my post like 15 minutes ago but I didn't post it right away... yup totally agree with you two.

Dekka, That is not, in my opinion the right way to something like this.....

I have a huge issue with straight numbers in that way, no city should set the rules for me and my farmer neighbors..

I just hope Harper gets his majority, and a fair shot at leading without a knife to his throat all the time from the other parties.... I don't agree with all of his policies, in fact I am split, as the Liberals have many policies I agree with as well, but I am flat out tired of a weak minority government..

Getting off topic... But I also think the Bloc should be removed period.... Why in hec is a party, whose mandate is (was?) separating from Canada allowed to run in a Federal election with members only in Quebec? Borders on treason if you ask me...

I didn't say it was right. But that is the 'problem' with democracy. If most of the people want something, they get it.

Ya the bloc is weird. And how come he gets to be in the debate but May doesn't. I personally hope he doesn't get a majority. I would rather have nothing done, that much of what he wants to do. At least he can't wreck things if he has a minority.

My dad is a HUGE Tory supporter, has been all his life. Even he hopes they dont' get a majority so maybe they will find a new leader.

I don't know..... Things cant get much worse.....

And I am very election tired.....

This forcing elections every couple of years is expensive and tiring...

I am not sure the right answer, but the way things are is not it....

Dan...

I know you love you some Kalashnikov. I'd probably like them more if my experience with them was not so negative. The examples I have used were all poorly maintained pieces of crap that we captured or recieved during "weapons harvests" in Bosnia.... GAR-BAGE. LOL PURELY a spray and pray weapon.
I do love my AKs because I have shot them more then I did the M16A2 in boot camp. Ive shot my AKs more then Ive shot my friends ARs.

The Capture weapons you and your squad picked up where likely made with hand tools by natives without electricity or local gas.

On another forum Im on there is a guy who builds Jeep and FJs from the ground up from hand tools . It is very cool.

I prefer my AKs because they fire every time. I had my M16A2 misfire on me during rifle qual during boot. Ive had my friends AR misfire after a few rounds after a cleaning. My AKs just fire. Your mileage has obviously varied.

I went out this evening and put 100 rounds through it. Not a lot of proper shooting form going one there, just breaking it in. 3 good cleaning cycles and I will go zero it properly. THAT is where, in the AK vs. AR debate, the AR rules. :) (Yes, I know I have to clean it a lot to keep it happy...LOL)

It feel's more solid than some other AR's I have used. The upper and lower receivers fit very snug, I like that. Not as much noise from the recoil spring when shooting it.

So far, so good.
My Black SAR 1 is playing card accurate at 300 yrds with a 9 year old on the trigger. Ill stick with the 7.62X39 SAR1, over the AR15.

Another thing I like about the AK it has a more solid feel. My issued M16A2 had a real sloppy fit.

lol um.. I don't know about/like guns, so I don't have much to comment but umm congrats! I'm glad you are happy with it

as for the thread title/debate.. I don't think puck meant it in malice or anything lol he is just a bit blunt I think
I've made those jokes before when I am all like
"HAHAHHAHAHAHA..... what?" lol and then later I'm like.. woops, I can see how somebody might've taken that the wrong way lol

Like at the gay rights thing when a lesbian couple spoke of how hard it is to be a gay lesbian couple and me and my friends had been drinking and a TEENSY BIT LOUDER than I intended I blurted
"well..atleast they don't have to worry about getting knocked up"

lol me and my friends thought it was HILARIOUS, the next morning we were like.. oh my god.. THat was AWFUL!!

Nice gun Puck. You know I'm a gun enthusiast and target shooter...have been since I was a teen ager. I'm glad you got a nice b-day present and I don't consider a gun a "toy" as someone mentioned. Or an unnecessary item. To many Americans, it is a fundamental necessity. And I don't think that one country is better than the other because of their feelings about guns. But the reason, I think that so many Americans are proud and glad to have this written into their constitution is that America won it's independence because the citizens had guns. We wouldn't even be a country if not for that basic right. The 2nd amendent is in existence because if a government ever becomes too tyranical or too dictatorial and people want to revolt or defend their rights and their lives, they have the means to do so...or at least attempt to. Hopefully, if ever something like that happens, the military would be on the side of the people. That's even more significant than defending against bad guys. (who, btw would always still get hold of guns.) So, of course that argument is ridiculous. Anyhow, that's why many Americans, such as Puck and myself, along with scores of others feel that type of pride in our country and our fierce defense of it and our rights.

I don't see anywhere where Puck was doing anything to stir something up. It sounds like "profiling." LOL. Just because he's adamant about something or passionate, why is it he's trying to stir something up? Lots of people write posts that one could say the same thing....but no one does.

Some of these assault rifles are very light weight and I suspect that's one Sparks would enjoy shooting. I love shooting similar guns that are light weight and no recoil to speak of. They're usually very accurate and easy to handle. The price sounds good.

I like recoil. I think I'm weird.

I like shooting handguns at the range, and the first time I shot a Glock 26 I was like WHOA YES.

Yes, I think she will be able to handle it fine. Its a typical .223 Remington/5.56mm NATO rifle. I much prefer to shoot real 5.56mm NATO out of it, its usually cleaner and cycles the action much more efficiently. And yes, even being a carbine there is no recoil to speak of.

Also, FWIW... Its not REALLY an 'Assault Rifle'. It just LOOKS like one. To be a real assault rifle, it would need to have selective fire modes. (I.e. Semi and 3 round burst/full auto.) This one, of course, is only semi-automatic. I only say this because one of the main reasons rifles like this one have such a bad 'rep' is because they LOOK mean.

The only bad thing I can say about it is its a PITA to clean. But its an AR style rifle, so that goes with the territory.

You think you are weird? LOL

What caliber was the 26? IIRC, that is the short barrelled 'carry' version they offer. The short barrell will lead to more recoil AND noise. So I reckon its right up your "Allie". :)

9x19 mm. It was WILD. It belongs to a couple I went range shooting with in VA. I also shot his wife's Glock 19, which is the same caliber but not a subcompact like the 26. MUCH smoother. :rofl1:
