well before anyone immigrates fair warning....

it costs A LOT and is more stress than I ever wanted to deal with lol

So be ready :)

As nice as Canadians are they aren't going to help you move your stuff across the border with a welcoming committee unless you've got the paperwork :rofl1:

Heck, it's hard enough to get my paperwork in order moving from state to state. I can't imagine dealing with moving to another country.

First, i'm sorry for the "lemmings" comment. It WAS wrong and as Lilavati pointed out, not true. Let us just leave it at the 'cultural differences' Allie pointed out.

Next, I really was not trying to stir things up. But, it being Chaz, I should have known better. My bad. I still recognize that the 'lemmings' thing was out of line.

I'm very proud to live in a country, for all of its faults, that recognizes the inherit right of all people to defend themselves. That is what the 2nd Amendment is all about. I could say pages upon pages more, but I reckon it won't go well. LOL

I've had really good experiences with CBP from both countries. When I was in Japan I traveled on my Canadian passport because I'm not a US citizen, but my CAD PP had my maiden name on it, not married. I think I carried every piece of paper I could think of to prove who I was etc... and the guy told me on re-entry to the US that I had all the wrong ones lol... he let me in anyway.

You're bang on about the paperwork though. My I-129F visa, one of the "easiest" to file, took a year to process from start to finish. Also bang on about the stress... neither country makes the process easier, although getting your foot in the door in Canada is a bit better lol.

Edited to add: Puck I don't really care so much what you say about Canada, or any country... anyone can find a reason to make fun of any country and its gov't or rules really and it would likely have some truth to it. It's when you attack the population or people that I think it gets out of hand. Cultural differences is a good place to leave it, I agree.

Jules, remember this comment the next time you or your catty posse want to accuse me of being a troll.
Excuse me?

First: calm down. It was a joke. I am not really expecting you to discuss the ratio of the length of your gun with your penis. At least not publicly.

Second: MY catty posse? And when have I accused YOU of being a troll?

Geez, I see how it is.

ETA: if you like being the one who should be taken with a grain of salt... then you need to handle the heat or stay out of the kitchen. Playing the victim card every time you get something coming back at you is getting old.

Chill out folks . . . Puck got a nice new rifle at a good price. There's not much doubt that he would only have been able to do that here in the US, which, I suspect, is why he won't be moving to another country any time soon. But that's a good reason to HAVE different countries . . . so that people can have a choice of the rules they want to live by. That's the wonder of democracy.

Many of us, US and not, would not chose to spend our disposable income that way . . . but then, that's the cool thing about disposable income . . . you chose how to dispose of it. Puck likes guns . . . I like . . . paying off my student loans . . . um, no, I mean feeding my jewelry crafting hobby. Its all good.

There is no reason for this thread, of all threads, to get personal.

Not bad.

Now, if "you" want to ban that one of those, you'll have to explain how its different from any other hunting rifle. Semi-automatic rifles and shotguns (not to mention handguns) are legal here. Other countries do ban all semi-autos, but that would **** off a lot of duck hunters here :p

Hey I did say I was happy he got a toy ;) Just that its not about Can vs Us...

And since its OUR CHOICE, not the gov to restrict a certain class of fire arm GO CANUCKS for using the democratic process for helping us chose the laws WE want.

That is what I don't get Puck. You are all about democracy. But how is it a nanny state if the gov does our bidding (at least in this case lol). I thought that was the point of gov to ensure the will of the majority? The vast majority of Canadians, as poll after poll shows are very happy with our gun laws.

I have lots of lovely, clever things to say to add to the discussion. But I'm going to exercise some maturity and restraint and keep myself out of the debate. As difficult as that may be.

But....buttt.....buttttttttttttttt...... it would be prettier if it were pink. :p

Can I just say? I don't feel any less free living in Germany than I did living in the states? YAY. You can have any darn spankin gun you want. Bake.Yourself.some.icecream. We can't - but we don't CARE (Actually most people are happy here for that. Not because we are blind, or because we say yes and amen to all out politions - we don't. But because we just don't need em). :p

Wow, mature one you are Puck  Can't make a post without putting other people down.

$650 could buy almost 8 six week agility sessions... Which is a better use of money to me, but to each their own.

Or 9.25 large bags of a high quality dog food... Or 10 vet office visits.
43 drop-in obedience/rally classes. 480 pounds of Taste of the Wild. 23 dog show entries. One full month's rent/utility/food. 25% of the cost of me moving to Washington. Yeah, I have much better things to spend money on, regardless of the legality of such a gun.

But unlike the OP I'm not going to call people names simply because they made a choice. A simple "Look at my awesome gun" would have been sufficient, instead of "I'm awesome and so is my country and y'all and your countries suck." It's crap like this that gives Americans a bad name.

I do have to say one thing though, I don't think it matters what Puck and his family do with their own money- it is not like him and Sparks post thread after thread about how they want sympathy because they can't make ends meet, they can't buy dog food, or provide basic veterinary care. It is none of our business.
