I posted the link to the Fire in the Hole complaint on my FB. One of my writing friends is Cormac McCarthy's sister-in-law, who is also a lawyer. She's enjoyed regaling Cormac with stories of some of her cases, and I've put her up to sharing that one with Cormac, but told her I want a detailed run-down of his reaction, lol. I'm not sure I agree, actually. Mostly because of the horror any attempt to try him would have wreaked on our legal system. We can't manage to try KSM . . . there's no way we would have managed to try OBL. If we've been brutalized, its by our treatment of other prisoners in the war on terror . . . and I do think we have been brutalized by that. In comparison, the question of whether we "executed" OBL or killed him in an attempt to capture him strike me as a pretty minor.

Well, I've heard that. I think that by and large, even at 10 times what they claim, its pretty harmless BUT 1) they screwed up their safety tests, which is unacceptable and 2) if you are going to assume a linear connection between radiation and cancer, even at very low doses (as the NRC does) then you have to compare the risk, however small, to the risk, however small, of being killed by terrorists. Someone ran that math, and even at the does they SAY you are getting, the numbers don't look good.
I don't take all of this guy's stuff as gospel, he is, after all, selling things, lol, but this is one of the better articles I've seen him publish. Airport Security Scans: What Would Your Doctor Do?
