Wow. Thank you so much, everyone. The support I'm getting here is just overwhelming. I'm still in tears right now, but now it's gratitude.

I have an idea I'm going to run by hubby. If we can section off part of our *admittedly* small yard, and put Voodoo on a tie-out cable as well (we already have a dog house), perhaps we can keep him for a few days longer. It's not the ideal situation for him, but maybe it would buy us some time to find him a new home.

But I'm not sure how well it would work. Like I said, I want to take every step to insure Zeus' safety.
That is a good idea. Is the weather reasonable there? Not too hot, not too cold?

If it ain't too bad, I'd go for it. He would be fine outside for a day or two.

Hey it's worth a try. Maybe you could exercise Zeus away from the property too, that would maybe help keep Voodoo from being agitated???

Gemp, I think you should go buy one of those chain link kennels. You know how your dogs are escape artists. It would be horrible if Voodoo got to Zeus or if Zeus got over a fence into where Voodoo is. YOu can always sell it later and get some of your money back.

I wish I could help monetarily, but I am in dire straights now after Lyric's hospital bills. But let me know if there's anyone else I can email or check into.

(((hugs)))

Gemp,
I am sorry to hear about this. I have been through some terrible dog fights too. They are very scary and dangerous, and once it starts it just seems to esculate. And with the degree of fights your two are having, I also think you are doing the right thing. I hope it works out and you find a rescue for Voodoo, but if not...... I still think you are doing the right thing. I support your decision 100%!!
You gave Voodoo a home when he had none, you have done everything you can for him, but sometimes things just don't work out the way we wish them to.
You, Zeus, and Voodoo will be in my thoughts, and I wish you all the best.

I got an email back from Catahoula Rescue Texas. Since Voodoo is being dog aggressive, the lady can unfortunately not foster him, since she has multiple dogs in her home.

But another issue has cropped up. It cannot be determined conclusively whether or not Voodoo is a pure catahola, or a mix. That may stymie his ability to be aided by the breed rescue.

Hubby and I are traveling to Dallas/Metroplex area on Wedensday. I'll try to contact the no-kill shelters and foster organizations there to see if they have room for the little Vood monster. My search isn't going too well right now. All I'm finding are organizations that a) have too little funding or b) are full. If anyone can find something in that area, please let me know.

Gem, in my email I said that he was a catahoula mix. I'm hoping that they won't hold it against him. When I look at breed rescues it seems they quite often take in mixes so I'm still optomistic. I really hope something comes up soon!

What about a rescue outside your area? Finding a foster home open without any dogs is pretty difficult so you might have a greater chance if you look into rescues maybe in the states around you. there are some great people out there who will transport if you need it. Dogster is great about it and if at all possible I know people from here would help you.

I am so sorry about what you are going through. I ahve two dogs who will fight to the death but thank god how my house is set up they are kept apart fairly easilly. They got together the first time in years a couple weeks ago and I thought it was going to end a lot worse than it did. Dog fights are scary things.

Use that to your advantage, Gem . . . start looking at Pit rescues too! They won't be so shy about dog aggression issues.

Oh man I am so sorry Gem. I don't know what I can do to help but I think renees suggestion of even trying pit bull rescue is a good one. But ultimately you have to make the decision that is best for the well being of your household and Zeus. I am behind you 110%. let me know if there is anything we can do to help.
