I thought we had progressed farther than this, at least.

Ok well that is a generalized statement. It may be better for some dogs but it may NOT be for others. That's all IM saying.

I guess I come from the mindset that-- as long as a person is feeding their dog then it's all good. People tend to humanize pets and prioritize them over themselves, their kids, their spouse. I feel very affronted by this. I love my dog don't get me wrong but i would not treat her as if she is human because she's not. She knows this.
I'm not poor, but I'm not wealthy. I do what I can. I can do Acana. I can do Orijen. I do not WANT to spend the money on raw. I don't want the germs. I don't want the risk of parasites or salmonella. I do not want urgent vet bills because my dog got a chicken leg stuck down her throat. I don't want to handle chicken hearts and livers.
Some people can only afford Pedigree. Are they bad people?? No. It's bullshit to say as much.
If you like raw so **** much you can come here and buy it for my dog.
You really, really need to calm down. Go grab yourself a glass of wine or something.

I don't treat my dogs like humans. My Border Collie does stock work which is pretty much the exact opposite of humanizing my dogs. LOL. One time he ripped off a dew claw, it was bandaged up, and he kept working.

I guess if I totally DID humanize my dogs, they'd be eating little filet mignons every night! They eat RAW meat. If I were to eat raw meat, I'd get sick. So obviously they aren't humanized and you're just pulling words out of your bum :rofl1:

The only "close call" I've ever had with food related vet visits were related to kibble. I've had to fish a kibble out of Chloe's throat. I've had to do that with a cookie in Rylie's throat as well. Talk about terrifying. Actually, when Emma was on kibble she threw up 10+ times in a row one night and we had to rush to the e-vet.

Is kibble evil and bad? Far from it!

sigh.. NO

I was getting human grade inspected turkey necks, chicken backs, pork necks/hocks etc and it was pretty cheap. I was part of a raw co-op.. buying power and all. I was feeding my 6 dogs for 1/2 the cost it would to feed them orijen.
15lbs of Orijen 6 Fish for me is $55. We went through 2 1/2 bags of it a month. Total = $140 a month.

We feed mostly premade raw and spend about $120 a month. All natural, human grade inspected foods. That's 45lbs of meat a month.

I know a girl who gets the leftovers from a beef farm. An ORGANIC beef farm for FREE. I also know people who volunteer in a co-op and get deep discounts on their meats.

I'm sorry I know im getting bitchy. I just feel pretty bad for what happened to her dog. It's like-- lets not focus on the millions of dogs being euthanized in humane society's, let's not talk about bsl, let's not talk about this animal that actually IS being abused.
Let make people feel like s**t for feeding kibble. Maybe not you dekka but others.

Let's just delete all of the internet forums and create one called "world hunger." Nothing is worth talking about unless it is a Big Issue.

May I ask how your cousin's dog died? I'm curious because I'm the type who does get nervous feeding raw, and I fed it to my cat for several months (and he did very well on it and I wish he could still be on it) but I am interested in the down sides for when I'll have to decide what my pets eat in the future. I'm already very familiar with the down sides of kibble.

I'm done. You keep cracking down on those bastards who feed their dogs kibble and I'm going to go help my 5 year old autistic daughter off the potty.
Some people do have REAL issues.

Ok well that is a generalized statement. It may be better for some dogs but it may NOT be for others. That's all IM saying.
All statements are general. That is what we have been trying to say. When you here those statements (made by actual pros) about how people should eat more fish. They don't run around and say ... well its ok for some but NOT for others. Fish is very healthy for humans. But of course there will be a very small subset of humans that will get very sick if they eat fish.. because there is something wrong with them.. not wrong with eating fish..

So by saying a raw diet is best for dogs does not preclude a very small number of dogs not doing well on it.

Maxy24-- he was on high quality kibble when my cousin heard that raw was best. She switched him slowly and he developed the runs. The people who gave her the advice said this was normal. The runs didn't stop and then started the blood. Started vomitting and pooping blood. She rushed the dog to the vet thinking parvovirus. No parvovirus. They kept the dog overnight and he was dead by morning. It was salmonella poisoning.

This. I still feed kibble. My pitbull puppy is Fed Acana and is doing great on it, and until I can find a supplier she is staying on kibble.

The only issues I have with kibble is people who fed their dog crappy kibble like O'Roy. Talk about absolute crap!!
