I haven't been on here much lately because I work some 60-70 hours a week and my daughter is really a disaster these days. This is an impossible post for me to make but I have no choice.

My husband really isn't much of an animal person. He is now responsible for caring for the dogs, and he is not doing a good job. Plus, he hates Mini. They are underexercized, and sad.

Is there anyone here who would like a four year old coonhound and/or a four year old Beagle.

Uncle Fred is a great dog. He does howl, but only if there is a reason. He isn't destructive, and is truly loving and loyal.

Mini tries to please. She is very, very quiet for a Beagle, howling maybe twice a week. Her big flaw is that she is terribly food obsessed. Se steals food whenever she can. Of course, she is also food motivated and thus easy to train to do almost anything. She is smart.

Both are used to children and cats. Mini tolerates cats. Uncle Fred likes cats and is buddies with them. The two dogs are not tremendously attached to each other. Uncle
Fred would prefer to be in a home with cats.

Uncle Fred is not neutered, but I am prepared to neuter him if necessary to get him a home. I hate this, but there is nothing I can do other than find a home for them, shoot my husband, or have them put to sleep.

Neither of them has any food allergies. They currently eat Kirkland chicken and rice with meat mixed in. Mini is Healthy. Uncle Fred is totally fine unless he misses a day eating. Then he gets diarrhea.

(((HUGS))) I'm so sorry, Doc Momma. I wish I could take them, but I will crosspost and send out emails to everyone I know. If it's okay with you, I'm going to dig up some pics to send with them?

Thanks, that's a good idea. Kind responses like this one make me cry. I think I will be more comfortable with statements about what a horrible irresponsible person I am.

You're so awful to be making a choice that is terribly hard for you and seems to be much better for the dogs. There. Feel better?

My heart goes out to you because I know you need their support through these hard times. I know that you would only make this kind of decision out of love. I pray you can find good homes for them and that you have the strength to go through what is in front of you. (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Aww Drmom, I'm so sorry. I wish there was a way I could take one of them but I really can't. I know Chaz will think of something though.

Okay , how used to children are they? I have a very very busy house and have been toying for awhile on getting another dog.
My hubby would prefer to go with a bigger dog. So we may be able to take Uncle Fred , I will have to ask him tonight. Where are you at , New Jersey right , how would we get him here , would also have to be addressed.

okay I will ask tonight and get back with you.

HUGS , i hate that you have to do this. You are truely a great person to think of them first.

But you are not being horrible or irresponsible IMO. What is best for your dogs is never irresponsible.

I am sorry I can't help. I have a friend who LOVES beagles, but she just got one dumped on her after Xmas. Sending home finding <<<vibes>>> for them

I'm so sorry, and I know how difficult it can be but you gotta do what the dogs need. If I could take them I would, but there's just no way I can add dogs to my current pack.

Sending Find-Good-Homes vibes.

How can you even consider rehoming them before exhausting ALL other options?
That better?

Bogart, we have six kids. Five live here, ranging in age from 7 to 23. He is used to being used as a floor pillow, and hugged randomly. He also has taken abuse from my mentally ill daughter and never even growled.

It's never irrisponsible to put their needs first. Even if that means rehoming.

Oh mom! I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this!

The woman who fostered Sierra is also involved in Canadian Hound Rescue and has a huge soft spot for hounds (especially Beagles). Her door is always open for fosters. If you want I can put you guys in contact with one another.

Is there any way you could consider Doggy Daycare as an option? When you are at work they would be playing most of the day with other dogs and having a ton of fun to boot. And you will know they are well cared for. The Daycare I took Sheena too would even give medication if required and also feed them if they were used to multiple meals during the day.

Or even a dog walker that could come twice a day. I feel so bad for you. I have been in the situation of having to rehome 2 of my dogs and I hated myself for it.

Good ideas Nicole. That would be awesome. I am so sorry Drmom...that you're feeling the need to rehome them. It is clear that you're trying to do what's best for your dogs. If they're not getting their needs met, then that is not good for them. I hope a satisfying remedy is found...for the dogs and for you...that you feel at peace with the result...a good home, doggie daycare or whatever else you might come up with.

:( I'm so sorry. I've been through rehoming myself, and it's just beyond heartbreaking. (((((((((((((VIBES)))))))))))) for finding good homes fast!
