PS - Dobermans don't love all people, but they will tolerate anyone if their owner asks them to. :)

Summer takes any eye contact, a smile, any talking in a high pitched voice (doesn't have to be addressed to her at all) as an invitation to be her new best friend. I have to say it's kind of funny and nice sometimes how much she loves people. She has a real ability to bring a smile to someone's face.

Anyway, I'm suprised nobody's mentioned a lot of toy breeds. I rarely meet a toy breed that isn't a "love everyone!" type of dog.
Mia. Mia's a 'hate everyone' type of dog.

I should give Mia more credit. She tolerates most people. But there are few people she actively likes. Me, my sisters, my dad, Summer's breeder, and my neighbor mainly. There's more people she seems to actively dislike.

-Beagles, I would like to say most scent hounds, but I'm pretty sure I remember PlottMom saying that Plott Hounds aren't good with everyone.

here I come, fifteen years late. Individuals of every breed, like everyone else has said... I wouldn't necessarily say not GOOD with everyone, but for instance Eerie can take or leave anyone, Bear is generally insecure/not interested (this uninterest that he and Eer have is what I consider normal, for the most part) in new people, Rage does NOT like MEN (other than Dad) in her HOUSE - outside the house she loves everyone, and Liz is a total attention *****, but will not so much as sit for anyone but me unless you are holding food. lol

I didn't mention any toy dogs, because it seems most of the ones I run into are all undersocialized/purse dogs, so they shiver and shake and want nothing to do with you.

I've met a lot of friendly Dachshunds, though. And Pugs! :D

I think it depends on the dog, depends on the dog's experiences. I would question any dog that loves everyone. Mary loved most people, but certain ones sent her hackles up made her bare her teeth. I trusted her judgment completely. I think most dogs that are raised in a postive atmosphere and socialized early will be good with people and most dogs that are not, will not be until shown differently.

Every berner I've met has been a total schmoo of love.
Bingo. You could kick Holden in the gut on first introduction and he'd still think you're the coolest human ever. All the berners from his breeder are exactly the same, too.

LOL, I JUST got finished writing up an evaluation I did on a golden who is very fearful of people. I did a private lesson in her home, and she finally started taking treats from me at the end of the hour. :( Which can be very dangerous because everyone expects goldens to be "love everyone!" type of dogs.

In fact, I've met several fearful goldens....
i've seen quite a few fearful/sketchy goldens around here, and a fair number of them are willing to follow up their fear or dislike with their teeth if threatened. i've run into a lot of sketchy labs, too. some of them downright scary.

i'd say cavaliers in this area are pretty reliably friendly. they are so not a breed that fits my lifestyle or personality, but i like them more and more with each one i meet.

Im going to say Bouviers. They are great with all people. Like wiggly butt, love me right NOW!!! kinnda way although they are not so intense as a lab.

But if someone tries to break into your house or come knocking at your door late at night then they are not so nice and their protective drive kicks in, but all in all they are great with people, and children. And live to please their people.

Labs are in general hard to type these days. I've seen a lot of Labs that are well bred (bench bred lately) that are happy to meet you, and happy to leave you.
This is Jack. He is really friendly and into greeting, but once he has greeted there has to be something he really likes about the person to hang around. He likes to "socialize" with lots of people, but has a definite sense of who "his" people are.

Now, I have met many goldens who have literally tried to walk away from their owners and follow me.

THIS!

When we go to pet rescue expos and all that this past year there is always this light colored golden (almost white practically) who lays by my feet - and he's pretty big and I can't move :rofl1: so I rub his belly and then after a while slide my feet out from under him and he always tries to follow me! I always tell his owner that me and Maddie would take him :p because Maddie seems to like him too! lol

Now, I good cocker is supposed to be "merry" (standard quote there for ya lol) and they generally like everyone. Maddie sure does, and BOY is she a ham! A lot of my fosters have been like this, too. But, just like with the labs (and all other breeds, really) there are always those that are the exact opposite.

I deff agree with Cavs, pugs, and beagles! :D Never met one that wasn't really people friendly, that I can remember anyway!

Our Staffordshire Bull Terrier LOVES everyone. When he goes to the vet he spends most of the visit licking the vet's face. Our Danes are friendly but not all are. Some are very aloof.
