Ahhh...I'm sorry Kim to choose you to quote...please don't feel attacked, you know I love you :) But this is just a perfect example of why I get annoyed when people try to "push" their faith on me. No, I don't believe in god as in the bible. I do not believe in heaven or hell. I believe that I die and that's the end of the story. So please don't try to passive aggressively tell me to hope I am right when judgment day comes...because I DO NOT believe in judgment day.

And every Christian I have met so far could not accept me not believing and just leave it at that. And I am not even going into the homosexuality debate. Hmm...isn't sex before marriage a big tabu, too?
Jules, some christians just really suck. Lol I HATED it too when I was an athiest. IF you ever feel me shoving what I believe down your throat, don't be afraid to fly on over here and give me a good whack on the head! :D:p

What experiences have you had? I'm really nor being rude.. I'm very curious.. :) You can PM me if you like :)
;) Aw, it's cool.

I really do not like getting into details with people that I don't know and trust, because my experiences have been picked apart and joked about before, and that hurts me more than anything.

I have seen angels, spirits, ghosts, and I have been spoken to by God.

One experience that I don't mind talking about, is of my cousin, Amber. A few years ago, I had a dream that God spoke to me and told me to visit her immediately. At that point in my life, I was very influenced by friends and I was completely drifting away from my faith but I felt it was way too urgent to ignore. I flew to South Carolina alone to visit her. It was a really amazing experience and I learned more about her & about myself during the visit than I ever have... she had so much faith and talked to me about how detached I felt from everything, including God, and she actually gave me direction. She was one of the most Godly, amazing people I knew. Five days after I left she had a massive brain aneurism and died, out of nowhere, at 14.

Thats cool. Well I mean I am terribly sorry she died but its cool that you have such a close relationship with God. I don't know if I believe that God really has talked to you because I don't know you are or your beliefs well enough but I do believe that God does talk to modern day people. And though it is sad she died I believe in heaven and if she had the faith you claim she had then that is where she is and heaven is an awesome place(though I have never actually been there lol)

WOw.. that is pretty amazing..
I also wish I could experience something like that.. then I'd KNOW.. you know.. I think at this point I'd like to experience anything whether it be good or bad to let me know if there is a god out there and what he wants me to do..

I was a christian at one point in my life.. I truely though I believe.. till I really started questioning all the aspects of christianity.. I realized that I don't think it's wrong for someone to be a homosexual.. not at all.. along with some other things..
It's hard when you think you really have a faith but then realize you're putting everything into a religion that you know in your heart and mind is not correct..
I do feel that the Bible had lots of wonderful teachings and great ways to live your life.. and I really do respect anyone who follows that lifestyle.. but there are too many things in that religion that I just don't agree with and if I'm going to put my all and my faith in any religion I'm going to follow it to the tee! :)

I'm not pushing anything on anybody. I'm just stating my beliefs and making sure I understand what rottie's saying regarding her (?) beliefs and answering questions/comments.
Personally, I hope all religions are right when judgement day comes...or whatever you believe in.
Yep, sex before marriage is frowned upon. I'm guilty, it was wrong and I asked forgiveness when I wasn't doing it (3 yrs) but met Tony and wouldn't change a thing and won't ask for forgiveness because I plan to keep doing it cause we are getting married. :)

We all have our own beliefs. So far, everyone's just been asking and answering questions and not getting nutso-outta hand about it. I don't think anyone is pushing anything onto anyone yet.

BTW - not arguing about anything...and no personal "attack" taken. YET! :p

Rottie - Cool. Not trying to take things personal, it just seemed like it went that way and I take my faith seriously (even if I don't live up to it all the way like a "good" person should). I get why you were saying what you were now. I thought you were saying you were Christian, but now that that's cleared up I understand why you are so...ummm...vehemt about your beliefs.

We all have our own beliefs. Some are similar, some are different. I don't think anyone is trying to push anything onto anybody here. We've all just been talking, discussing and (in some cases) having fun. :)

I think this debate has been awesome. So surprised that everyone is acting very mature about all this.

Since a religion debate went so well, I am tempted to make an abortion debate, lol. I have done it before on this forum, but we have a ton of new members now. The last abortion debate didnt go so well, so maybe I wont make another debate. Hmmmm.

Based on how this thread has gone I would hope it wouldn't turn into a debate, everyone has been so respectful of each others opinions.

Debates are fun when people act respectful.

i like what you wrote :). i think religions are based on a lot of fear too. if someone is following his or her heart "god" is there for me... it's not so confusing or conveluted ... just simple.. as simple as a rain drop.

You definitely just need to open yourself up to things, and open yourself up to the world around you. For some people, it's much harder to experience anything beyond the now & "reality"; for others, like me, spirituality almost comes naturally.

I completely agree... honestly, consider that men (who have all sinned) are in control of the churches and "Christianity" as a whole. It is much, much, much more important in my opinion to feel connected to God yourself than to go to church and listen to preaching. I have honestly been to churches where I could not even stand sitting there, it was seriously nowhere near what Christianity should be. Taking in what the bible teaches and applying it to your own life is way, way more bettering for anyone rather than blindly following "words".

But spirituality does not necessarily equal christianity. A lot of people need to realize that. I was a very devout Christian for a long time but then I opened myself up and realized it didn't make sense to me and the spirtual things I were feeling definitely didn't fit within the rigid confines of Christian rules. I believe that there is a higher power but that doesn't mean it's some guy named 'god' who rules the world with an iron thumb. I believe that everything is connected to each other. I believe in karma and reincaration and many other things that can't easily be defined by one religion. My life is a spirtual one for the most part and if I lose touch with that all I need to do is take a walk in the woods or look at life through 'eagle eyes' to see the bigger picture.
