Not true, DrMom.

A lot of us will argue passionately that you bring a great deal to the forum. You've helped many through confusing health issues and have been a comfort and a rational, thoughtful voice time after time.

I truly hope you are right, Zoom. Some of us here are more dispensible than others. I, for example, may be the greatest person in the world, but I bring no special expertise to this forum. Chaz would go on without me without a ripple.

Red, like a few others, leaves the forum considerably poorer for her absence. If you look at her history you will find that she gave wonderful advice to many over a very long time,.

She gave of herself, her time and knowledge, unselfishly. Granted, she has a temper, and can be pretty snarky, but only when goaded by others intentionally or unintentionally. She is also passionate about many aspects of dogs and dog breeding.
I can't agree with you there Doc...Boris certainly benefited from your expertise and presence in Chaz. :) But I know what you mean, let's hope it's just a temp thing for Red and she comes back.

See difference between here and other sites.

A) people are actually SHOCKED someone got banned. It's a matter of course on most forums.

B) this thread has not been locked. On most forums the mods decision is final, and is not for the general public to speculate.

Just some food for thought.

People get banned off forums. Even I have had a temp ban once upon a time - I know, the shock (not from here, and many years ago actually :D).

Red was a double edged sword and being helpful now and again doesn't give you free reign to be a twat anytime you feel like it.

Personally I think not coming back after a temp ban is pure stubborness and cutting your nose off to spite your face.

But that's how she wants to play it, then so be it. Some will miss her.

Some won't.

Interesting thread for a newbie. I didn't know Red well, though I did check out her site and I was actually hoping she may post on my Puppies and RAW thread.

I never was on the other end of her ire, so I can't comment on that. She was helpful to me, and seemed like she was very active in her breed and you really don't see that too often.

I hope that if I screw up because I'm new or whatever, that people are somewhat forgiving. I have a temper, but maybe it's smarter to keep that in check and not to get too personal.

I do think it would be a shame, though. I'd like to make friends here.

I like Red. I respect her. But to not come back because she was temporarily banned, and was temp. banned for good reason, is just. well. Childish and petty.. She has the choice to come Back. If she dont, well thats HER problem, not the MODS..

I would kind of have to agree. While I do think she was totally giving with the information she had and was helpful to others...it was a different ballgame if you disagreed with her.

For those of you who have never been in a disagreement with her (ie. you have an opinion and she doesn't agree with it)...it really doesn't take long for the conversation to degrade into petty personal attacks and a pretty hostile attitude.

I have been in the unfortunate position of having a point of view that differs from hers and I can truthfully say that, while I appreciate her knowledge and enthusiasm, I just don't think that her brand of..."debating" fits the vibe of this forum. We're all pretty amicable here and I'm always pleasantly surprised by how intelligent and mature people are here (which is very, very rare for forums in general!). So while I don't miss the old Red, if a new Red returned to the forum I'm sure we'd all welcome her with open arms. :)

At this point in time, seeing that she is no longer here, I feel that arguing against or for her personal stance and somewhat attacking her demeanor or attitude is unfair since she is not here to defend herself.

And since it's a temporary banning, then hopefully with time too cool down, she might with time decide to come back. This is my wish.

I'll miss her :(

I understand why she wouldn't want to come back though. I don't know what she did to get banned, but if it's something she thought strongly about and got banned for, well... I wouldn't come back either. It's how she is, she doesn't fool around... if it's not accepted here, I don't see why she would feel comfortable.

Not to say it should or shouldn't be accepted... but that I see her point.

I would just like to say it's not in our (the forums) best interest to ban anyone who actually provides value. However, there are some instances where this just has to be done. And this was one of those cases.

All we (the members and mods) want is for people to act like they actually care about Chazhound.com. That means being respectful of other members... Voicing opinions without hurling insults... Providing help to others when needed... etc.

It is impossible for everyone to like everyone else, but that doesn't mean we cant tolerate or get along with each other.

Look at this from a different perspective for a moment.

Some members will leave because we enforce the rules, others will leave because we don't. So, which is worse?

To have a place with no rules where people are mean, unjust, insulting and can get away with whatever they want (doesnt sound like a place i'd like to frequent).

OR

To have a place where people are nice, courteous, opinionated but thoughtful and where we genuinely care. (That's a place WE CAN ALL be proud of)

Yes, I have dream! AND it's obtainable if we all work together!
