Oh I was going to post something VERY similar :madgo:

Do I think he could have been nervous and upset in a strange place? sure enough..........but "uncontrollable" after you say he isn't aggressive in these past years with him? I highly doubt it.

These are the same people who told bunny he was there and fine for the moment...........and now they are saying he was euthed the day your mother dropped him off?

WTF?? :madgo:

Rest peaceful dear Reggin.........:(
That probably tells the tale right there. They were lazy and the AC officer couldn't be bothered to check his bite histories and besides, WTF, one less pit bull makes the world a better place in the eyes of that sort.

Yeah, they could have euthed him as soon as they got the false bite history from the officer. Lying to save their a$$es. I can very well see that happening....

I feel the same as Zoom. Haven;t you already been there days prior, when everyone was trying to help? If they told you they would have signed him over to you, why didn't you do that a few days ago when you said you were over there?

Words cannot express how unbelievably sad and pissed off I am right now, I am literally crying over a dog I've never met. I don't care how cruel this sounds or how much its' rubbing salt in the wound but I hold you personally accountable Reggin. You had weeks of people offering to take Reggin before it came to your landlord's suddenly popping in and demanding you get rid of him, even then you had AT LEAST 24 hours before you took him to a KILL shelter in which people were brainstorming, offering donations, etc to take him. At some point you lied to us and failed Reggin. Either about his temperment, when you actually took him to the shelter or about what the landlord said. They HAVE to give you 30 days notice/warning before evicting you over anything, even non-payment of rent.

I'm just beyond disgusted right now.
That. Exactly. I am very upset and sad....

You had him dropped off at a kill shelter. What did you think was going to happen. It happened sooner rather than later, but if you didn't want him to die.. then you don't dump your friend at a kill shelter when you have options. Sorry but that is very firmly how I feel.

Like Zoom, I am crying over a dog I never met. All I can think about it what he thought/felt those last moments. Dying at the hands of strangers who didn't care a thing about him. That's just not what he deserved. He deserved so much more and so many people here tried to give him that. RIP Reggin, may you finally be at peace. :(

OMG!! I am so mad and upset!! I know I am an emotional person but do the shelter workers take into consideration that he was separated from his family probably for the first time ever??!! I know Brody really acts up at the vet but it is because he is scared half to death.

I thought these shelters are supposed to help dogs why are the so quick to kill them? Why couldn't they at least give him a few days to calm down? You would think legally they would have a certain amount of days they would hold an animal just in case it was a mistake or a spouse brought the animal in for revenge or something.

I am very sorry for your loss Reggin. You are a better person then me because I think I would have gone crazy on those people! I just don't know what else to say.:(:confused:

If he hadn't been dropped at a kill shelter, it would (or could) have been a totally different story too. There were lots from here, and I'm sure some sort of rescue that could have helped in some way for it not to have ended like this. There was no reason for it to end this way, unless there is more to this story (and dog) than what we've been told. Regardless, it all could have been prevented and been a much better outcome.

Zoom pretty much covered it.

This disaster occurred because this dog's owner failed him, and put him in harms way. All the good people here put their hearts and souls into trying to clean up the mess she made, but to no avail. It is very sad, and I am very angry.

I'd been watching the other thread, and Juicy linked this one...and I went cold. A strange, intense physical feeling.

And now I'm sitting in my office crying about a dog I never knew.

I had really, really hoped...that with so many people trying....

It just breaks my heart.

I only wish that Reggin the dog could have known how much people out there cared about him, how far total strangers were willing to go for him.

But he was scared, and sad. :(

I want to go home and hug my doggie.

That's entirely true, but a "shelter/rescue" is supposed to be just that - and you have, by definition, some expectation of TIME. This was cold blooded, breed based killing.

I haven't made a phone call.

Yet.

In most states, they are only required to hold strays- dogs who they don't KNOW have an owner who doesn't care if they're euthanized.

If Reggin was as bad as Reggin-the-poster says he was, she should have signed him over for euthanization and styaed with him. Perhaps he would have been less scared and stressed in his last hour if she had.

Red, Zoom, and other expressing similar opinions are exactly what I wish to say.

I hope you enjoy your new puppy... your old one is now at peace.

I am sitting here bawling my eyes out at the vet's office, I logged on to check in on Reggin and this is not what I was expecting to see.

I don't agree with what you did, Reggin, but my disgust with your decision is not going to change the outcome of this situation.

I'm sorry, beautiful Reggin, that we couldn't help you in time. RIP

Between crying the the anger that this happen to Reggin when he should never have gone there in the first place, I'm going to hold my words back.

May Reggin be in peace with our loved ones as he wasn't loved enough by his so called owner.
