I'm speechless. What a waste. He was set up from the beginning. But I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and try to help correct the problem. I do feel badly for your situation but it's by your choices that put you where you are...at least for the most part. And by your choices that put Reggin in the grave, bad choices, mistakes...I don't know what to call it. I just hope next time, you don't act that hastily.

I would have told the landlord to get a grip. She acted against the landlord-tenant act (in most states, at least) when she showed up at your door without 24 hour notice. But I guess you didn't know and were intimidated and afraid of losing your place. Couldn't you have kept him in a car or somewhere for just another day or two? Why the rush to take him to a kill shelter? Did he really have a bite history that you knew about and didn't want to tell us about? Those pictures don't mean that he might not have been dangerous or unstable around other people. That was his own family.

It is true that landlords can not evict you that quickly. It is true that a pit bull rescue somewhere might have taken him. My sister's trainer was searching for people to take him in. My sister and my daughter were searching. Everybody was searching and FINDING! If only you had held out one more day before taking him to that shelter. It didn't have to end like this. I was willing to come get him clear from another state and take him home with me until a more suitable home could be found. I put my heart into trying to save him and rally for him. I didn't know his temperament was unduly unstable and shy. No wonder he came unglued at the shelter. (if he did)

I agree that these shelter workers are often times anti pit bull, just like all the other morons in the general public and just get trigger happy with the syringe....mass destruction, make room for "nice" breeds. I was afraid of that from the beginning.

I know that the past is the past and I know you feel badly, that in your frantic state, you didn't think very logically. But I also feel in my gut that the whole truth was hidden from us, we who were trying to help you....that some things never did quite add up squarely.

It won't help Reggin, but I hope it will help any future dogs that you learn from this and don't ever act in such haste again....especially when you have a whole slew of people behind you to offer guidance and support. I won't turn my back on you even though I do think you made some screwy decisions. You must feel awful. I will be here if you feel horrible and need to talk things through.

Such a sad waste though. :(

I am just completely sickened by this entire thing. She was in financial crisis, and was obviously aware that she would most likely have to move to her mothers since before she got Truffles. Yet, she just HAD to bring a puppy into this enviroment. Now Reggin is gone, simply because she was lazy. And yes, MANY people were trying to help. it was HER fault he ended up at the kill shelter. She had plenty of time before she HAD To take him somewhere. And people here were trying to help.

I feel really sorry for her other animals, and I think if she is going to be homeless, and can't afford food, she needs to rehome those dogs to people who can properly care for them. Pebbles is probably sick right now, with the same thing that killed the pug <edit>. And she obviously isn't getting medical care. She could wind up the next dog dead.

We see it in the news, we see it on Chaz and other threads on a daily basis. Breed banning, dogs being put down because of breed.

Anyone that can knowingly drop a pitbull off at a kill shelter is irresponsible. You know what the outcome is going to be, before you sign those papers and leave. Anyone of us that owns a breed that is subject to this kind of reaction KNOWS this...and if we don't, it's because we've been blind.

How could anyone expect that poor dog to be dropped off and survive it? It's a terrible tragedy for the dog, the owner, however, knew or most likely knew it would come down to this.

Guys! Ease up on her. There is no point in saying the same thing over and over anymore. I am pretty sure she gets what you all have been saying. But there are other issues here that are equal, if not more important. Like the well being of the children.

Madison and her unborn baby are out of that environment now. Yes, we lost a beautiful animal that deserved better. But our focus should be on supporting her through this. She is CLEARLY going through a difficult time. Yes some of us have been there and went about things in a different way that didn't land up in such a tragic end. We aren't her though. Her choices are hers to make. Her mistakes are hers to make. But she's taking a step to change her life for the better. So let's help her through this in any way we can. I know tons of you tried your darn hardest for that dog. Sadly what's done is done and we can't change that. What we can help with is the current state of things.

Regardless of how everyone else feels Reggin I am always hear to listen.

and RIP dear one.

Oh I was going to post something VERY similar :madgo:

Do I think he could have been nervous and upset in a strange place? sure enough..........but "uncontrollable" after you say he isn't aggressive in these past years with him? I highly doubt it.

These are the same people who told bunny he was there and fine for the moment...........and now they are saying he was euthed the day your mother dropped him off?

WTF?? :madgo:

Rest peaceful dear Reggin.........:(
Sadly the only time he was fine was within those first few hours of the day I called. :(

When I called the first time they told me that they would check his bite history and would call me back if he was available that day for adoption if all checked out good.

When they called back they told me they found he had a history in Aberdeen, that he "was not a nice dog" and they would not be adopted out.

I am pretty sure that once they said they were not adopting him out they already decided that euthanasia was going to be the road they took.

That's why I mentioned on the other thread trying to see if I could get ahold of AC and finding out if I could get info on the bite history they claimed Reggin had. I was hoping at the very least if I could get ahold of someone and get them to check records to see if they wrong it could possibly buy Reggin time..
