I feel exactly the same as Red, Zoom, and others.

I feel so sorry for Reggin(The dog) he is in a much better place now, and there was no way Reggin(The owner) could have not known this was going to happen.

I olny hope that pebbles and truffles do not suffer that same fate.

Always have some sort of plan in place for your pets if something unexpected should happen.

I'm going to go hug the most important thing in the world to me now, Brenna.

Between crying the the anger that this happen to Reggin when he should never have gone there in the first place, I'm going to hold my words back.

May Reggin be in peace with our loved ones as he wasn't loved enough by his so called owner.

God..... I hope none of you ever feel the desperation that must have been there for her to make the choices she did! lately the hard, nasty, lack of compassion on here is mind numbing... the name calling of Grammy The accusations on other threads not to mention the stuff being said in chat that no one has the guts to say on the open forum.... .I am saddenedby thatbehavior as much as anything!

I am actually saddened by the fact that this, a dog forum, has lost sight of the suffering of this poor dog at the hands of the one who he trusted, whose job it was to safeguard him. Remember, we are a dog forum, so our focus should not surprise you.

Sure.. feel saddened. We all do.

But I feel sad for a dog who got dumped by the people who loved him in a kill shelter when there were options.. and had been options for weeks. I could understand if this was a sudden thing.. but it was not.

Shelter's fault my ass.

Reggin-the-poster knew this all along, I'll bet money on it. Sugar-coating everything to make us all feel sorry for her. Attention craving you-know-what.

I'm going to withhold with what else I want to say, but Reggin-the-poster... I hope your happy. Good job leading us all on like that.

I agree. I surely hope that everyone posting nasty words is NEVER in a position like hers. Desperate times lead to desperate acts.

It must be nice to have lived a perfect life and never made a big mistake, wish I could claim the same.

I am shocked that all of these people who are so kind and generous and willing to help on a moments notice can be so full of venom :(

YES........HE!! YES, it is sad and anger inducing what has happened to this poor boy.......but have one ounce of compassion people, please..........

This was cold blooded, breed based killing.
or not. you weren't there and have no way of honestly knowing that.

i've been checking the assorted threads all day today even though i knew in my heart what the answer was going to be. still, there's a physical reaction in my stomach to actually see the words.

whether the shelter people "should" have killed reggin doesn't really matter. any responsible pit bull owner knows better than to dump a pit bull at a kill shelter. reggin-the-person chose to move into a place with a landlord who didn't allow reggin in the house (quite possibly unavoidable) and then chose to break the rules. i'm sorry for the dog that she got caught, but what did she expect was going to happen? it's the same story played out again and again and again in rentals all over the country and it's always the dogs who are punished for it.

rip reggin. you deserved far better than you got.

maybe i could have stomached all of this a bit easier if it hadn't been for all the wookit my cute baby puppy chihuahua pictures we were all treated to.

I for one have never said anything in chat that I won't say here.

Regardless of how 'desperate' one is, there were people extending offers of help that were declined, and now a dog was PTS needlessly, that is why so many are upset. I can't say what I really want to about the owner, because of the filters here, or in chat won't let me.

As far as Grammy goes, I think even Grammy realizes she is sometimes from a different time than many here, she'll speak her mind, though many of her views don't always agree with today's times. I've also acknowledged I don't always agree with her views, but, I also stated in chat last night that being disrespectful and name calling is not called for, ever!

Why exactly am I supposed to have compassion for someone who has dumped her pet at a kill shelter, her other dog with her mother, who in her own assessment is incapable of caring for animals, and has brought another animal into this mess for her own comfort, with no regard for its future well being.

Once again, this is a forum for dogs and dog lovers. This is not a forum to make excuses for the immature and self centered.

It's not possible for it to be the shelter fault. Not at all.

Reggin was surrendered by owner, which means that he was not a stray and ment that no owners would be looking for him because it was the owner who surrendered him in the first place.

If I recall correctly he was dropped of at the shelter in the morning, which left plenty of time for temperament testing and once he fail, PTS as that only take about 15 minutes.

To address both points...

Yes, I HAVE been in her situation, sans the kids. Abusive SO, no money, pets I couldn't afford to care for, no job... and guess what I did? As soon as the going got tough, I worked on a solution to put my pets into a safe place until I sorted things out.

Fozzy, my dog at the time, went to a local rescue for fostering. It took me a while of working, calling around and making arrangements, but I did it, as soon as I was having trouble. And I got him back when I could financially care for him.

She had time. Weeks. Of knowing that she couldn't care for Reggin. She had time.

And to address your second point... I, like Snip, have never said anything in chat that I would not say here. However, to openly speak my mind on the forum would likely get me banned. If this is otherwise, I would happily say more.

Leave me out of this !! LOL !! Sadly I don't fault the " shelter " ... personally I feel he was dropped off and they were told to put him to sleep . Easy way out ! I think she knew he was gone from day one . May the picture of Angel Reggie and Maddie haunt her for ever !

That was exactly what I was thinking. If it was another large hard to adopt breed that failed the temperament testing.. I bet the fate would have been the same. In a way I do hope it was fast.. that means he suffered less considering how stressed it sounds like he was.
