I like erect ears on dogs a lot. I'm not sure why, but they just appeal a lot more. And the bigger the better.

I like either straight long hair to smooth coats, but my favorite would be medium with a little bit of feathering. No curly or wiry hair and nothing with a beard.

I like dogs with average to long muzzles generally. Nothing shorter than a papillon for me (and they're bordering too short) or longer than an Ibizan (collies and borzois have too long of noses for me). I like a lighter build than average, something trim and lighter on the bone, athletic, but not quite sighthound thin (other than beezers). Trim, but moderate in build.

I like dogs with tails. Either down or loosely over the back is okay. I used to hate that but it's grown on me with the paps and I find it very convenient (no happy tail) and very expressive. They carry their tails up and down depending on their mood. But I don't like the docked look at all in any breed to be honest.

I am big on markings. Not a big fan of solid colored dogs, I like them to have white on them. I don't like merle in general though certain merle dogs appeal to me. I don't like brindle either much. I'd rather have black and white, sable, or tricolor. Something with markings but not too busy.

Ibizans are probably the prettiest breed to me. Border collies are also very gorgeous, as are tervurens, and papillons are about the closest I've found in small dogs.

I sound so picky!

Here's some of the breeds that kind of stand out to me looks-wise. I have a definite type.

Border collie:

Papillon:

Ibizan Hound:

Pyr Shep (smooth):

Markiesje:

If I could create a perfect dog, it'd be somewhere between a BC and Beezer in build, with papillon ears, medium feathered coat, and it would be black and white or tricolor.

I am also a HUGE sucker for herders that herd with a lot of eye. Something about their intensity. LOVE the stare down and slink. It gets me every time.

one of the things I love about dogs is that there are so many variations--I don't think I could choose one look. Having said that--I generally fall for floppy ears, wrinkly faces, and eyes that melt your soul. LOL.

I like athletic looking dogs. One where you can see a nice 'tuck' and not really a bulky-type dog if you know what I mean. Most bully-type and mastiff-type breeds would be out for me. Merle is probably my favorite color on a dog, every time I see one I saw gawk and oohhh and ahhh over them, think they are so gorgeous.

Don't necessarily have a preference for ears, but I tend to like breeds with pointy ears, but I also love a floppy eared dog. I just like the look of most little terriers, even terrier mixes, something about them just gets me. Most terriers all have the same face-ish, to me.

I like fluffy or soft hair but not TOO much hair. Sheepdogs, shelties, etc, are a bit too puffed out hair for me.

I don't like docked tails. Most terriers have docked tails it seems and I hate it. If I have a choice, it will have a full tail, like Jackson does.

But, if I were to pick a dog PURELY on looks.
Smooth coated blue merle BC.

I really like scruffy looking dogs. I tend to gravitate toward medium to larger sized dogs but if it's kind of scruffy looking the dog WILL be getting love from me.

Other than that I really like dogs with large heads like bully breeds.

My dream dog (atm, it changes daily) would be a dog that looks similar to Cricket and has a crazy amount of drive/focus/energy.
Can you tell I reccently saw a pup that looked *just* like a younger Cricket? LOL. It was at Petsmart and made me sad. I want a puppeh lol.

And for a smaller dog, I've been drooling over these:

Cirneco dell'Etna
^ that dog in that pic is about Cricket sized and actually built a bit like her, especially in the face... never even heard of that breed, but wow gorgeous. Speaking of Cricket... I'll ship her to you lol. She's making me mad today.

As for me... I really like BIG bat ears... the bigger the better. I love a longer muzzle and I love the long neck you see in Ibizans. I generally LOVE the overall look of a majority of the sighthound breeds. I really love expressive eyes as well. As for eye color. There's something about amber colored eyes that draw me in, especially if they're on a darker colored dog.

For coat: I like both longer and shorter coats. It depends on the dog. I love the look of the Borzoi breed and would honestly consider one one day. At the same time I love the really short coat of Ibizans and Greyhounds. I love fringe, especially ear and tail fringe. Colorwise, I love red/white patterns, brindle, some merle coats and I love tri colors especially on border collies.

I like a dog that has long legs and a super lean but muscular body. I like long tails either floofy like a border collies or long and thin and generally laying in a J like you tend to see on Ibizan Hounds. <-- if you haven't guessed already... I really really like Ibizan Hounds and Border Collies.

I like a dog that's athletic, fast and omg the border collie stare when they're crouched low and herding is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. There's also something about dogs that tend to jump higher that I really like as well. Both of my current dogs love to jump.

In fact.... my main two breeds would probably at this point be Ibizan Hounds and Border Collies. I also think Bedlingtons are pretty neat looking.

This guy is probably one of my favorite Ibizans right now. There is a slight chance he may end up being my future puppy's sire... but that's not set in stone yet. I absolutely LOVE his head!!!

Serandida Amun Ra of Gelt "Ra"

And his full sister from a separate breeding
Serandida Spirit Oh my Darling "Klementine"

Another one I like is from Arbeca Ibizans
Juerga de Can Poca Roba "Fresca"

and Laur, I quoted this because I think that dog is GORGEOUSSSS!!!!! I love tri border collies.

I love the look of Dobermans and Beaucerons. I adore Pharaoh Hounds (this is one of my want badly dogs).

I have Watson who is everything a Basenji should be (yes I am biased). I love their form and grace. Seeing him run is amazing. I loved being at his breeder's house and getting to see a whole group of Basenji's racing across her property :D

I guess grace and lovely lines gets me every time ;)

Klemmie! <3

I like Cirnecos in theory and always thought they were stunning in pictures. But wasn't nearly as attracted by them in person. I got to meet three last year and I'm not sure... I also really don't find pharaoh hounds that pretty but I love beezers. I know, it makes no sense. I think it's just slight differences in the build and then the coloring.

Cirnecos are a bit smaller and slighter than Cricket, at least the ones I've met.

Tri border collies are my favorites. If I could build my own perfect BC, it'd be a rough coat, tri, split face with overly big prick ears. :p

Well I love big dogs of all descriptions. They're just sooo full of awesomeness. I prefer dogs with a snout, not so much a pushed-in face. I guess they remind me too much of human faces? (at least that's what I read somewhere in regards to why humans are attracted to flatter-faced animals :p). I'm not the biggest fan of curly coats either. Don't really know why. I do tend to notice the eyes first, something about pretty eyes.

I've never given much consideration into looks I guess. I had to really think about what looks I like at least.

Coat: FLUFFY!!! Fluffy, fluffy, fluffy! I love medium to long haired breeds (double coated), soft to pet, better to hug. Walk me through a shelter and I will want to take home every big fluffy dog there is

Color: I love me a solid black dog (especially a GSD, Standard poodle, Groenendael) Merle (red or blue), and red tri's.

Build: I am a little less picky about build, after owning Desoto I have grown to really like a little shorter stockier dog. But my preference is more along the lines of a collie, longer on the leg, long neck, muscular but not bulky, not light like a sighthound (Borzios being the exception). I also love my dogs on the lean side.

Head: Wedge in most cases, must have an intelligent expression, not too picky on ears I like tipped and prick the best though, I think they tend to add to the 'intelligent' look.

The two that most closely match this are the Groenendael and rough collie, black standard poodles are also pretty close

Dingoes or Malamutes...

Thick, but athletic builds, double coats, prick ears. Not too fluffy, but well insulated. Wild looking. Blue eyes on a dark mask is good too, you can get Huskys like that, maybe the Denali sled dogs.

I just remembered something else, docked and cropped ears/tails have no appeal to me. They're a turn off really. Complete turn off. There is nothing cuter then a floppy eared Dob or a rottie with a tail for example. Prick ears I like, but only if they're natural within the breed.

I like moderate, 60-75lbs, short single coat (preferably dark), dry, muscular and hard-bodied, Lean and athletic but not wispy or insubstantial, strong neck with no hint of ewe. BIG teeth, proper occlusion. Dark eyes, good fill, longish muzzle, high earset. Balanced front and rear. Tight feet with well arched toes and thick pads.

Kaylee is my kind of dog. ;)

I like a thick muzzle. Tail curled over back. Thick coat. I like a red or cream color. I like "up" ears. Teddy bear look!

But I also like pretty much anything from the Nordic and Spitz families, prefering Spitz a little more.

But seriously, I might have to get a Karelian Bear Dog so I can do things like hiking in summer, and bike jorring.

Glad you made this post. Now I don't have to. :p

I am most attracted to Dobermans. But, there are some other types I like the looks of also. A GOOD GSD, for one. Certainly not the weak, hock-dragging, deformed looking GSDs you see so much of lately. I also like the look of a Poodle when it's got a nice, new hair cut...mostly a puppy cut.

I also admire many of the sight hounds' looks, especially the Borzoi. I love a good Lab too, utilitarian, strong and um...just a regular looking dog. lol.

Chihuahuas, if they're of good quality, well balanced, good heads....I like those too.

Well, I'm sure there are others. But I'd say the main head turner for me is a good looking Doberman. (with a good show crop and properly docked tail....the way they're suppose to look, which is not "cute.");)

Expressive face with an intelligence in the eyes. Smooth to medium length flat coat, no beards or cropped ears. Wedge head with prick, drop, button, or tipped ears, no hound or rose. I don't like anything "extreme" in body type. A moderately built, small to medium size is preferred. I am fascinated by the merle pattern. I love a loud blue merle with tan points and flashy white markings.

A Koolie would fit pretty much all of my preferrences
