Physically (Dog Wise) What Appeals to You?

I like a pretty wide variety of types, but I tried to narrow it down to a "preference" for this thread. I spent some time on petfinder, browsing and making note of dogs that caught my eye. This is hard work! LOL

Overall I think I prefer:
- short/smooth coat
- muscular build, strong but agile in appearance
- unique coat colouration (I don't tend to be drawn to solid white, black or brown dogs the same way I am to one with some flash)
- tail! I like a tail, but not a curly one.
- no pushed in faces

I have so many different preferences, but my reccuring "wants" are big shepherd mixes, particlarly black ones. A husky/shepherd is like the perfect dog for me, looks wise. I love the looks of both shepherds and huskies. They're just gorgeous. I love groendaels (sp?), and black gsd's.

Of course that's just physically. I would love a shepherd mix pound pup one day, though.

That said, pretty much every dog I hope to own in the future, not only appeal to me personality wise, but also physically. Like:

Sheltie. (Holy crap, what kind of markings are those? Red merle?)

Border Collie. (Eeep white face, plz <3)

Aussie. (<3 Be still my heart.)

Chihuahua.

Dachshund.

Greyhound.

Lean faces, lean, well-muscled bodies, short coats, upright ears (prick, tipped or button).

A great headpiece, no dished faces, tipped ears, perfect almond eyes. I can not stand the look of European Collies (sorry guys!!). There is too much mane, too short, finely boned.

In a Rough Collie Spiritwind Sangria is a beautiful, beautiful female. I adore this female. I also LOVE Ch. Marko's Curtain Call.

In my Smooth's I love a sound looking dog, such as Ch. Wranglers Irish Blessing and GCH. Cyndella's Splitting Image.

I saved a picture a while ago of what I think may be the single most gorgeous dog I've ever seen, even though the body type might not be my exact ideal.

I'm not sure I have a definite type. I prefer medium to long coats over smooth coats, am not too crazy about curly hair, and like wiry hair but not necessarily more than a thick plush coat. I like fuzzy more than anything else - either kind of feathery like a Brittany or thick like an Aussie. That's more related to touch, though. I don't think they're more physically attractive than short coats, but I prefer petting furry dogs.

I dunno, my tastes vary pretty widely...

I think this dog is absolutely breathtaking.

and at the same time the sweet, soft expression of a flat coat never fails to make me melt.

I guess, if I had to narrow it down, my type is "fuzzy, floppy eared and sweet-looking" - ha! I'm especially drawn to sporting dogs but some working and herding breeds fall into that as well.

Also, oddly enough, before I adopted Rowan, I had a STRONG preference for black pigmentation. I didn't really like red and liver was mostly "eh." Now I loves me some red dogs! :lol-sign:
