All mine have.

I hear people say if you fix them young they don't but I think thats bull cuz I have had fosters fixed very early and they all lift their leg as soon as they see another one do it.

no not all. Mainly it depends on their maturity and weather or not they were nuetured young.
Whiskey was fixed at 6 months old and squats. It is something I prefer. I don't like washing pee off the walls or sides of my house etc.
I know people will say that is too young but phoey I have yet to have a dog with tumors and the like. Mine have always been fixed young and have lived longer then their life span for their breed. Whiskey will be 4 years old this year. Only dogs I have had that hike their leg were uncut or cut at an older age.

Well, I think sometimes it can be related to dominance too. Trey was neutered at 1 1/2 or so and has never lifted his leg once in his life- when he was intact or when he was fixed.

Then again, he's a really odd dog.

I think Joce may have a point with "they all lift their leg as soon as they see another one do it" in some cases.

Joey was neutered at 6 months and he still squats. But he also doesn't really "hang out" with other male dogs.

Walker was raised with other males that lifted their legs and he never has. He did get neutered around the time he turned 6 months old. But Tytus is 2 years old and hes intact and has NEVER lifted his leg.

Ruckus is a one year old, dominate sheltie. and he never hikes his leg. i think it just depends on the dog.
Ruckus even comes to work with me sometimes and sees plenty of male dogs lift their legs. but he has never showed an intrest in trying it.

Tuckers odd. He's over a year old still intact and has never lifted his leg. Even when he marks his territory he squats. I don't know he's an odd little Cocker Spaniel lol.

Our pug Bruzer was fixed at 4-5 months old and had just begun to lift his leg when he was fixed. Gunnar our GSD is 2 and intact. He didn't lift his leg until he was 10 months old.

Should Gunnar have been lifting his leg at a young age as he was not fixed and was around another dog that lifts it's leg? On the other hand should Bruzer not lift his leg because he was fixed at a young age and was never around a male dog to influence him?

I don't think it has anything to do with dominance, fixed young, influenced by other male dogs, or anything. It just varies by individual dog.

Baxter doesn't lift his leg--unless we are at the dog park! At home, or on walks, he squats--he was neutered at about 1 year of age.

Max was fixed before we got him at four months and did not start lifting his leg until he was about two. He also had trouble when he first started and would loose his balance and fall over  He eventually figured it out but if he had nothing to pee up against or just didn't feel like it he would squat.

Madison doesn't lift his leg to pee... but sometimes he will mark, and he lifts his leg (outside only). He was neutered at 6 months of age.

Melvin doesn't lift his leg, either. His older (and wiser :D ) female mate, always modeled the squat to him as a pup, and he's squatted ever since. Melvin was neutered around 6 months also.

I sont think its a learned behavior at all i think it has to do more with the levl of dominance in the dog. Most dogs that i know that lift their legs are the dominant dog. Scirrocco was completely and still is dominant over Walker and Tytus was submissive to Booger. All the fosters i had that lifted their legs were the ones we had dominance issues with.
