So the site has been heavily redesigned since last night - mostly to reflect the original "oops" story, no prices listed, no breeding program info, etc. The lies and deceit just keep coming.
Yes it has been........it was down earlier this morning, but never fear........there ARE screen shots of the original website. She isn't going to wrangle out of this one so easily.

I can't get my head around where she's coming from........I've tried, but to no avail :(

:) 'ts why I asked... I don't know a whole lot about the teststhemselves

Do you remember what they actually tested for? Eyes and hips are the cocker norm. Nothing else. It's all it takes to get an OFA CHIC number. Only hips aren't a 'usual' cocker issue. Knees are. That said it's always a combination of genetics and it can be a crap shoot. Did both parents have good knees were they even both tested as it's not a usual in the cocker world. Even if both parents rate well sometimes genetics can throw you for a loop..
I don't remember specifics because she's Manda's dog... I think maybe just hips and eyes... can't remember. But I can link you (its saved in my favorites) -- let me know if the link works  OFA: Search Results

Having a single dog less healthy than some rescued dogs isn't really any indication of anything at all. Of course there are going to be quite a few exceptions. Look at all the chaz dogs who are very healthy who are rescue dogs.. But its a stats thing... (remembering GOOD breeders, not skeezy show breeders) And the perceptions, if you have an unhealthy dog from a breeder its OMG an unhealthy well bred dog!! OTH a rescue who has health problems people shrug and say well its a rescue dog. One is 'news' the other isn't....
Oh, I know ;) Maybe I worded it wrong. I just think its kindof ironic. Because I preach the preach, and Manda always teases me about that :p lol! Some of the skeezy show breeders (to borrow your words) are just as bad as the BYBs!

CERF tests for progressive retinal atrophy. I have no idea if you can even test for cherry eye or not.

Wow yeah, the site is quite a bit different than what it was yesterday.

anyway again i need to stop as i was fooled by this person and am completly beyond reasonable over this. i am just glad i know now instead of wasting anymore time respecting a liar.

I havent looked at the page. But don't people change their website pages for vanity reasons all the time?
yes , beside the picture on the home page that wasn't hers , and her vanity made her take off the selling prices of 800 to 1000 "DEPENDING ON BREEDING RIGHTS PURCHASE" from non health tested , non proven anything dogs?

i am sure she is reading here , and being informed of what is said , so i feel that is why she changed it.

ow no she proabaly changed it due to the cool 4000.00 to 5000.00 she has pocketed due to selling this litter whom she put no money out on.

But, again, the puppies are no longer for sale, so their info now reflects their new homes instead of sale prices. That I don't find odd

i can see how you dont find it odd since you are buying one of the pupps and are certainly okay with her lies and deciet.

i find it odd to even be proud of this litter at all. i would have aborted them or at the very least placed them through rescue with the proceeds going to help the rescue. but then again i am not out to make a living off my dog either.

CERF can look for 29 different eye anomalies in 7 categories. If there is apparent already happening cherry eye they'd put it on someone's cerf, but they can't tell you your dog has it till it happens. CERF Categories

Mafia says she only tested hips and eyes. In Mia's dam they tested eyes, hips and LCP. Sire LCP and hips no eyes. They looked at how the femoral head looked normal, but patellas weren't done.

So Mia's got distichiasis likely from her sire's side as his eyes weren't done, though in the scheme of cocker eye issues it's minor. Neither dogs patellas were looked at, either or both parents could have had problems, but sometimes things just happen. Short of a poor hip rating in cockers I don't really look at that one as hips aren't really an issue and I'm annoyed that the breed club doesn't care enough to push to have hips changes to patellas.

I agree that some show breeders suck big and are as bad as bybs. It sucks. Makes it hard to try to help people find good breeders as it's not as simple as oh that one shows and does some ob go with them. I've found a good number of cocker breeders lie about the health testing they do. Scary stuff.

It sucks for Mia. I'm sorry her health hasn't been stellar. How old is she now?

figures and i am outie.
listen, I don't have to explain myself to you. Do you want to know where my other dogs came from, too? I'm not being a hypocrite here, because even though I post on this site, go find one post by me where I have ever gotten into the breeder bashing. Everyone on this site does not have to have 100% the same opinions/ethics/ideals, and that is just fine.

I've worked in rescue and I've also been turned down by rescues because of a variety of reasons. I can get a dog wherever I want to. I can also throw $500 down the drain if I want to. What does it really matter to you?

Aborting is NOT safe in dogs. You can e spay if you don't want pups. But if you were planning on breeding.

Why dump the responsibility on a rescue? Rescues have enough to deal with... if good homes (like Pam) can be lined up why force the issue onto someone else?

Lies and decites aside, why make MORE work for those not involved?

Very scary. That is annoying, to say the least.

Mia's 6... she'll be 7 in Oct, if I remember correctly. Amanda's not here, or I'd ask her. I hope her puppies (knees especially) are healthier than she is. ;)

But, don't get me wrong, she's still a love -- and none of us regret bringing her home!! :)

You know, Pixie, I really, really wish I could agree with you on this one. But I saw the website yesterday and today. And it was NOT changed for vanity reasons.

It went from a "I'm a small breeder producing dogs of great temperament" and charging $800-$1,000 pro puppy to "hey, this is me and my little patch of land" and "well, I had an oopsie here, look at my pretty puppies" and no price.
I don't know why she even cares anymore. Her cover is blown and obviously we are right in our assumptions, otherwise she wouldn't try to cover her lies, quite unsuccessfully.

I am quite disappointed all around. Gemma KNEW better. In the end I guess wanting some mighty $$$ was more important than caring for her breed and being responsible. I hope you have a lot of joy with your puppy, Pam, but I am also quite disappointed in you. You KNEW better, too. But I guess sometimes it's easy to turn a blind eye if you just want a puppy right now instead of making an effort to find a responsible breeder and wait for it.

Yes, I know these dogs need good homes, but so do puppies in a petstore. Still doesn't make it right in the grand scheme of thing, does it?
