A really nice lady on another forum ended up donating a lot straight to my vet through her rescue. I am so so so grateful to her, it's covered a ton of Ada's medical expenses and I still have a little credit to put towards the spay.

I haven't had as much time to do the art as I had hoped due to some other family stuff that happened these past two weekends (long story) but I'm going to be arting out all day today and tomorrow. If anyone wants to go ahead and send the donation over before the spay on weds, that would be appreciated. I will make sure yours are done asap.
Is your email for paypal over on the other thread?

Ugh =< Poor thing... six pups is quite a lot too. Definitely sounds like it would be a risk either way, and if the HW meds could harm the pups anyway... =<
(((((VIBES)))))) that she has an uneventful spay.

Yeah, it's a tough decision to feel really GOOD about. I have mixed emotions. It would've been nice if whoever had her before us had been a little bit responsible with her.

Definitely no "good" decisions no matter which way you go. :( I think I would have made the same decision as you made, though. Overall it seems less risky for her and less overall harm done. A decision has to be made either way, and IMO this one sounds best.

Big massive huge amounts of vibes for an uneventful spay/abort, and then she can go back to being crazy Ada and focus on healing!

Poor girl but it's for the best. I was talking with a breeder friend of mine about this and she about lost it when I mentioned she was going through HW treatment. Ivermec is super harmful to developing puppies and it would be quite possible to end up with a litter of very messed-up "who knows what" puppies. :(

The fact that she's showing this early probably means that she'd be at huge risk of these being very big pups I would think. I know it was a hard decision to make, but it really does sound like the best option for everyone.

I've seen a few spay/aborts done, even on nearly full term litters, and while it's a more involved surgery, the dogs have always handled them fine. Lots of good vibes for Ada!

Her HW treatment ended up being a month of doxycycline 2x a day and normal heartworm preventative monthly. She gets her first shot of immiticide in about 3 weeks. So I'm not sure if it would be as bad or not since she's really not started the hard core part of her HW treatment yet. But it's still just a risk not worth taking imo.

I agree.

Was hoping she wasn't pregnant. :( Poor girl... I've said it before, but she is SO lucky you were the one who found her. So many people would never put this much thought, effort or money into a stray dog.

I'll be thinking of Ada all day Wednesday. I hope everything goes smoothly.

I'm also going to send over a donation to PayPal right now for what I can... I think I'm going to do one of the $10 sketches but no hurry on it at all. I just wanna help out a bit before her spay!

Thanks for all the support guys. :) I sure didn't expect all this when Ada showed up and was handed over to me.

She's really kind of sick acting today. Not sure what's up or if it's just all wearing on her a bit. Poor thing. She looks very big. She weighed in today at 18.1 lbs from 16.7 lbs the first day we had her.

Dogs do get morning sickness so don't worry too much about her feeling crummy. Sorry it did turn out preggers but it seemed likely based upon how quickly her heat ended.

Wish you both the best on Wednesday.

::::hugs:::::

she definitely is lucky she ended up with you. you have done so much good for her.

I know it was a tough decision but you have to go with what's safest for her. Aside from the normal risk to her from giving birth, I would worry about the size of the pups since you have no idea what kind or size dog she mated with.

I haven't commented on this thread yet but I have been following it... more (((Vibes))) for Ada. I would have made the same decision, it just sounds like the best for you and Ada. She's very fortunate to have ended up with someone who cares so much for her wellbeing :)
