I'm really becoming a scruffy terrier mix fan. I've been looking at Border Terriers lately a lot. They are like, the epitome of scruff and I just really want one, lol. Can I come move in with you? I'm getting sick of the parents house, LOL!
Heck yes you can!!!! LOL! Roomies!!! :p

Omg, I know, Border Terrier is exactly what I told my sister! (AKA "the cuteness" from the movie The Master of Disguise")

Have you called the no-kill shelter?
Not yet. We've tried to deal with them before and they're pretty much impossible to turn in an animal to. We had to give a BIG donation with the kittens we surrendered to them and even then that is supposedly really unusual. I know several people that have found animals but not been able to turn them in there. But maybe they can post a found ad there?

She is wonderfully cute but quite a handful. She seems to have SA or something. She barks and howls almost the entire time she's separated from me. She might be much better if I could keep her with the other dogs but since we can't she sees them and it's bark bark bark all the time. She does walk fairly well on leash though. We took a walk and she pulled a bit but was really well behaved. I think she'd be fine if she was allowed to be inside. I think she really just is a people dog and hates being kept away. :(

Just saw this thread. What a cutie. Looks a lot like a border terrier mix to me.

Sounds a bit like Jackson. He can't stand being away from me. If he can SEE me in another room but can't get to me, it drives him nuts. I wouldn't say he has SA, per say, it's just when he KNOWS I'm in another room or on the other side of a fence, for example playing basketball with my brother and he used to sit and bark because he could see me but not get to me. Now he just sits in the corner of the inside of the fence and stares at me the whole time I'm playing and won't go play with the other dogs while I'm not in there with him, lol.

Her ears look like a Border Terrier but the rest of her looks all Yorkie to me. I see a lot of BYB yorkies who look just like her.

She looks very yorkie but she is HUGE! She looks tiny in some of those pictures but she is sooo much bigger than any yorkie I've ever met. My grandma has an oversized yorkie but she's still much bigger. I would say she is beagle/sheltie sized. Definitely not a toy sized dog.

She is taller than my shelties were and probably weighs in the 20+ lb range. I'd guess at least 15 inches in height. Trey was 14 inches tall and she's definitely taller than him.

Btw posted fliers at vets and around here. The other AC isn't any help either of course. We're out of both jurisdictions so they basically were 'tough luck'. Great. Now I see why so many dogs are dumped in this area, there's literally nowhere to turn them in! You have to prove residency and pay a fee to turn in a dog at the local AC. Kind of ridiculous imo.

She howls like a hound and our whole walk she was nose to the ground. I am honestly wondering if there's not a bit of hound in there somewhere. She reminds me a lot of the beagle I used to live with.

Many many a JRT (and whippet) will walk with nose to ground. I think that can just be a dog thing. I knew a newf that howled like a hound... lol.

Many hound crosses look very houndy... if she does have hound there isn't much. I still vote for yorkie or border terrier (though bt can come in that size normally)

I've only ever really had paps and herders so my dogs have all been the type that have their attention practically glued to you all the time. The whole 'screw you, I'm going to go sniff' thing is a bit new to me lol.

She definitely sounds like a hound....know that from living with 6 dachshunds!

She is absolutely adorable though....but if you haven't found owners by now, they probably have no interest in taking her back, or they dumped her there.

I can tell you that many many non hound dogs do this. From teaching classes where most dogs do this when stressed or not rewarded for paying attention. Pretty much ever foster JRT that has come in has been VERY sniffy when going for walks. (one even howled just like my friend's beagle)

All THREE of my pit bulls are/were sniffers. Like, nose-to-the-ground sniffers.
Both Ophie and Luke are getting better about coming when called because they are rewarded for doing so, but both still get stuck on a scent occasionally.

She's a cutie - and definitely was found by the right person! ;)
I hope her owners come forward soon :)

LOL, yes, yes, I know. I keep telling myself 'no second dog yet! not YET!'
The more you try and tell us that, the more we try and "find" one for you :rofl1: :rofl1:

Ugh no chip. :( No room in the shelters either.

This really is such a good dog. She's so sweet. I've been hanging outside with her and she just laid down next to my feet and went to sleep. The second I'm up, she's up too. The more I look at her in person, the less yorkie I see. Her color is yorkie and her hair type is yorkie but after that, she doesn't look much like a yorkie at all. She made a liar out of me, she weighed in at only 16 lbs at the vet but she's very lanky and tall.

She is adorable!!! I love the scruffy terrier look!

Hope you get a call soon. I don't know if I'd be able to give her up.
