12-13 is about average...younger than 10 is definitely out of the ordinary. Some blame the hormones in our food, others say it's a mass shift because women as a whole are menstruating for longer than ever these days. We start earlier, delay childbearing and hit menopause later. And since we women have the 'wonderful' tendency to sync cycles...it would stand to reason that we're affecting the younger females around us more than ever, in addition to outside environmental factors.

ah geeze I read your post before the rest of the thread and thought we were still talking about virginity. 12-13! and younger than 10.... :yikes: I'm moving Fiona to an even more remote island :rofl1:

I think I got my period in Gr. 9. How old was I then? And I lost my virginity out of high school. I think I was 20. I definitely didn't feel ready in high school but after I was open to it but the right guy wasn't around. lol

ROFL! I'm beginning to think that we need to have a seminar in how to skim threads so that everyone knows what is going on.

17, junior prom night (I think that made me 17... I can't remember)
It wasn't anything spectactular, but we had fun. He'd had sex once before. He took me to my favorite outdoors place and we had sex in the bed of a truck "by moonlight" and it rained! Sounds totally hickish but I wouldn't trade it for the world!

I got my period summer between 7th and 8th grade. Annoyed the crap out of me (still does) because I had to miss going to Valleyfair!

Mmmmmmm. Got my period at 13 and lost my virginity at 15. It was with a boyfriend I was with for 5 years after that. We did it twice then I got scared and we didn't do it again until I was 17.
I don't regret it.

Lost it at 17, I was friends with one of my sister's "frenemies" and we got into a fight when we were out. Left me and him together when she stormed off, I thought what was the one thing I could do that would **** her off even though she would never know (stupid? Yes). Virginity was nothing special to me (I may regret the guy, but I don't regret doing it or not waiting)... so I had sex with him.

Started my period at 12/13, I knew what it was and I kept it to myself for the longest time. My sister on the otherhand, she screamed from the bathroom something's broken or hurt down there :rofl1:

I was either 13 or 14 when I lost my virginity.. It was however to an incredibly special person, one who until this day I love as dearly as I did then.. We'd been friends since 5 years old, and were boyfriend and girlfriend from the age of about 11 onwards, he was my first true love.. And we were together up until he was tragically killed by a drink driver in a car accident when he was 17.. So no, I don't regret it in the slightest..

I think I was about oooh 11 when I started my periods.. When I talked to my mum about it all I asked her.. "Why have we never had the birds and the bee's conversation?" She replied.. "Because you know more about it than I do... " lol.

18, One night stand in a hot tub.
No regrets and actually my friends thought the story was more like something you'd read in a magazine.
Ol double standards at work I guess but I was heroic for it.. which at the time was great.
Didn't really want to wait until I was married... lord knows when that would be (of course I know now but hey that was over 9 years ago.)

Oh gosh. My parents would NOT allow that. If Madison was 16 and dating a 19 year old, I would put a very quick end to that. As well as turning him in as a pedophile. Oh hell no. I know for a fact a 19 year old would have his way with her.

Stop and think about that. That's only three years difference - nothing at all . . . and at 16 girls ARE going to do what they will, no matter what mommy and daddy think.

Now . . . how fair is it to ruin a young man's life - forever - for that?

It's only 3 years different. Yeah, at that age it's a bit, but I don't think always too much an age difference. sure many 19 year old guys would do that, but I know PLENTY that wouldn't.

I got my period when I was sixteen.

I guess it was later than most? I knew what was going down, but it didn't change the fact that I hated it and it ruined my Officers Ball with JROTC. I still went, but man, that sucked.

Rob was 24 when I met him. I was 17. That was 5 years ago. Not every guy is out to have their way with a girl ;)

I was 14 when I lost mine. Sad, I know. I went about it in a good way though, talked to my mom about it, got protected, and it was with someone very special to me.

And don't forget . . . 16 year old girls are . . . well, 16 year old girls ;) At that age, we are perfectly capable of getting ourselves into damnear anything - and dragging even the most chaste guy with us.
Agreed, totally. I was pretty rebellious at that age. MY mom almost cried when I met Rob though, she adored him (he swayed her before he swayed me!) and constantly bugged me to break-up with my then boyfriend, David.

We hung out more and more, and he became a really good friend. I spent more time with Rob than I did with David. I got sick of David and canned him, and called Rob :lol-sign:

16.

I was with my boyfriend who was 22 (and also a virgin).

I was with him in total for 3.5 years, so it was natural I'd lose it to him.

I don't regret it at all, we practiced safe sex, and were in a stable relationship. And it wasn't after the 1st week, or month even. I can't remember how long into it it was though.

He certainly shouldn't have been handed in as a paedophile....!!!!!!!!

Age is important only when you know the facts in the relationship - where does the power balance lie.

Ok, lets get this straight one last time. It may actually be a crime in some states, but technically a pedophile is attracted to prepubescent children. So in most cases, you have the wrong terminology here.

It may not be illegal depending on the state either, in many states the age of consent is 16 regardless of the partner's age. In only about 15 states is it actually illegal for a 19 year old to have sex with a 16 year old. The age of consent is 16 in Canada. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_North_America
