So on another forum Im on. there was a discussion about unaltered dogs (it was based on males, but we can use females in here too) and taking them out to places, like pet stores, dog parks, and just in general pet places, dediated to pets. What is your take on it?
I for one dont agree and see why a unaltered dog should not be going in to public, pet stores, dog parks, dog functions (like large walks, play groups ect). IMO a well trained dog is not well trained based on some body parts they do or do not have on them.
As most know blaze is unaltered, and he will stay that way. I have my own reasons, he is no show dog, or breeder. But he goes to do gparks, play dates, humane society type walks, pet stores ect, he goes anyw here I can take him. He even did a huge 6 hour walk/hangout day in Toronto on Monday, which was a holdiday and it was very very busy down at the harbour front center, there was dog things going on and humane things, and he took it all in with any any issues. even when the psyco pigeons (Im sure every one knows about pigeons in large citis not terrified of anything at all) walking up and literally pecking around his feet for food lol.
He goes to the dog park, and hangs out with other unaltered dogs there as well. granted I know these people and their dogs very very well. He really doesnt mingle with dogs there I dont know, my dog park is so big you can get lost in it (I know I used to when I first started, was lost for 2 hours lol). but he never tries to mount a dog, or pick a fight. he is more intrested in wreatlsing with his buddies, or chasing balls and rocks.
I see so many altered dogs behaving very terribly. yet if it was a intact dog, every one (Im speaking in general, not abou the forum ect) would say its becuase it is intact.
He goes to pet stores, and will sit and stay when I say so, and wont move.
I guess it just irks me when I hear often that unaltered dogs come from uneducated owners who dont properly care for their dogs, and they shouldnt be in public. if I didnt want a dog to take in to public, I would only have cats, and heck even Marley the cat comes out to pet stores and car rides lol.
I know this is long, sorry.
