I want color and chaos lol

Another unpopular opinion

On the topic of rehoming vs not rehoming. Homeless with dogs...

I see a lot of posts where people are like "see they are homeless and keepig their dogs.". Really? This is a good thing? Someone who can't feed them, vet them, keep them contained (running loose) Or give them any shelter... Thats what people should look up to? Sometimes love is NOT all you need. Dog gets sick.. Yeah the owner loves them but that dog is screwed.

I think its selfish. If you can't take care of yourself you cant take care of a dog

I don't like when people play the minority race victim card. Racism still exists, but I really think for the most part we're beyond caring about race.

Old people should have to take road tests to prove they're still fit to drive.

Veganism is dumb. Eat, fool. Eat!

I am pro-choice. You can't judge until you are in the situation.

I don't think Germany is social-democratic enough - we're actually pretty conservative.

I think parents plunk their children infront of the TV too often.

I don't think kids should be allowed to watch TV until they are about 4 and even then not much.

I do care about money.

I don't get the whole gluten-free thing.

I think if Obama does not get re-elected, things will get a whole.lot.worse.

I think we should charge all American tourists 15€ when they land in Germany - we'd be rich! And the US is doing the same to us. so it seems only fair.

If I thought less of people that do not read I would be thinking a whole lot less of the very people I love dearly.

I haven't kept my feelings about cropping. docking and certain breeding practices a secret and it has made me unpopular to be sure but I feel strongly on the issues that I do stand up for.

Watching all sports is boring to me, because I am not a sport enthusiast, not because I think anyone is better, lesser, or whatever. We each have our own interests and that is what makes us as a whole an interesting creature. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

That's right.

Personal ethics.

Moral compass.

Compassion.

Empathy.

Basic human decency.

Honesty.

Integrity.

You're right . . . we'd have nothing without opinions.

/sarcasm off
Unfortunately, in the America of (now) 2012, all of those have become matters of opinion. Indeed, some of them, to my utter amazement, have become partisan issues.

And I see what J's getting at. Substitute "free thought" for "opinions." The only way to maintain all of those things is if people think for themselves, speak up, and speak out.

Oh, and on the topic of tacky Christmas decorations . . . other than the REALLY elaborate, gorgeous decorations you see some towns but up . . . those tacky lawn decorations are the best part of Christmas. Sometimes tacky makes you smile.

Part of our Christmas is driving the little children to the family party via the route of the most lit up neighborhoods so we can look for Santa on the roof. Two generations, still a big deal. A 4 year old squealing in the back seat "THERE HE IS!!!!!" makes me smile to even think about it.

A lot of my opinions have changed a great deal between 20 and 50. One is that there are other ways to learn besides reading. My son taught me that by repeatedly saying " I am not YOU" after the umpteenth book argument. He tested 2 years below in reading ability, but 3 years ahead in comprehension. If he hears it, he has it lock stock and barrel. His job is something I can't even wrap my mind around no matter how many books I read. And he is right, and he has grown into a successful man, a good Father and someone I am vastly proud of.

I don't get the whole gluten-free thing.
Are you referring to people who do it as a fad diet or just in general? My husband has Celiac Sprue Disease and absolutely cannot have anything with even the smallest amount of gluten in it or he will get extremely sick. I decided to go gluten free in support of him (kind of like when people shave their heads to support someone with cancer) and with us both eating gluten free it makes meal planning and food shopping a lot easier for us since we don't have to separate what he can and cannot eat at home.

GLuten tolerance, or lack thereof is a growing concern. It's starting to appear that as many as a third of US citizens might be intolerant to some degree. For some it has huge ramifications that results in drastic life altering decisions. FOr a lot of others it's much more subtle.

New research is showing that it may just be the gluten that is responsible for so much of the inflammation associated with high grain diets. Inflammation isn't good when it isn't supposed to be there. Get enough of it long enough and it can cause problems with any number of the systems in your body and it's being implicated in not only the normal "celiac" issues, but also IBS and brain disorders. It will be interesting to see what comes in the next 10 years or so.

That said, the grains we grow in the US have a higher content of gluten than that grown in European countries. or so I've read, but have not seen any actual data to show me.

Look at Neckbone and her progress. That spells out the whole gluton thing clearly, at least it did for me.

ok, another one I will add;)

I think many people forget how very recently race was a HUGE issue and dont realize the issue it still is...It is just one generation ago we still had forced segregation...so very recent in terms of history and attitude.

Another one... although it might not be as unpopular as I think it is.

Don't treat kids like they are lesser beings than you are. yes they are loud, sometimes unruly, etc, etc but one day they will be the ones taking care of you. Treat them with a little respect.
