What's an unpopular opinion that you keep secret bc you want to avoid confrontation?

I think newborn babies are ugly

I think bringing gladiator battles were really cool

I find it hard to believe that people live in/WANT to live in the square states in the US

I'm glad movies are more expensive to go to because now theaters are less crowded and it keeps rowdy loud teenagers/parents with loud kids away

Facial hair is gross

I secretly think girls who say things like "I just don't get along with any girls.. all my friends are guys" are A. sleeping with all/most of the guys they are "friends with" B. bitches or C. both

I think glee does better covers of most songs than the original versions. including the beatles lol

Leggings are not pants.

If he cheated with you, he will cheat on you. always.

Long distance relationships are what seniors in high school say to eachother so they can have sex the summer before going to college

Couples where the girl is taller than the guy make me cringe

To answer your question, we have all kinds here. From the militant atheists to the deeply religious. And just about everything in between. Not to mention representatives of a wide range of sects, denominations, persuasions, and personal interpretations.

Just wait until a religion thread pops up.

You know, its interesting that many of these unpopular opinions are either 1) widely held, if not often stated or 2) very common (50%+) but highly controversial with those who don't hold them. I really don't think I've seen many that are the sort of thing one doesn't mention in polite company . . though perhaps not in politically mixed company.

I guess my unpopular opinions are:

Our "security theater state" is a joke and a massive threat to our freedoms

The drug war is a mistake. A horrible, expensive, and bloody mistake. Which is also destroying our freedoms.

The American criminal justice system is broken.

I'm sure I can come up with more . . . I tend to state them frequently.

I'll join you on those. I agree wholeheartedly.

Other than the OP, most of these opinions weren't secret or unpopular.
Depends on the crowd.

During a sports discussion over the holiday I was drawn in and admitted I thought professional sports in general should be eliminated. The ****storm that comment caused would suggest that it was highly unpopular and perhaps best kept secret (which it had been til that point) :p

Ditto these.

Especially the last one.
I am 5'6" so I am pretty tall for a girl anyways, so when I throw on 3-4 inch heels, I need a guy to be taller than me when those heels go on. I am so glad TJ is 6'1 :D

This is the only one I really disagree with. I live in a state where getting married and popping out babies is pushed on most females. It's not that I don't really get along with them I just don't have anything in common with them. I don't care how I look, I don't want children, I don't want to spend time doing housewife things and caring for 'my man', I don't care about celebrities and it just ends up being a long uncomfortable silence when I have to hang out with all females.

That being said:

I don't really like babies. Love toddlers and and young teens they crack me up. Babies just kind of gross me out. I don't know if it's how they just look off to me or what. I just became an aunt so I'm going to have to work on this one :D

I don't care what celebrities are doing.

I can't think of any other books series or anything popular that I hate more than the Twilight books.

The only thing I hate more than Lady Gaga are Twilight books.

I think to run a business you should be able to do basic math.

I think if you have enough money to paint flames on your honda you have enough money to buy a better car.

I'm pro choice.

I'm pro death penalty.

I disagree with social programs my taxes go toward.

Despite being a 20 something, a minority, a female I don't fully support Obama. But I don't fully support any politician.

I think race jokes are funny. I was the only Asian in my school almost the whole time I was there and I think giving certain words power and wasting time being offended by sounds coming out of someone's mouth is stupid.

I believe if you are poor and your plans when it comes to caring for your child include free stuff from charities you shouldn't be allowed to have children.

I believe in spay and neutering people.

I believe people should be allowed to own guns. But I am terrified of guns and don't want to own one and I think I have just as much of a right to not own one as others do to own one. I'm one of the only people in my family that doesn't have one.

I think my best friend who is gay should be allowed the same rights as I do as a straight person.

I have never tried drugs but I think pot should be legalized. At the same time I think it should be monitored like alcohol. My brother was in a car accident when he was a junior in school. A group of guys in his grade got high and decided to go get more. They didn't have lights on and were joking around and ran a stop sign and couldn't stop fast enough and hit my brothers car. Two of the boys in that car died, my brother got a concussion and his friend in the car with him has had trouble since the accident because he was the only one awake and saw the other two kids die. I think the 'I'm totally ok when smoking' ideal shouldn't be pushed and responsibility as with alcohol should be preached to everyone.

I've probably got quite a few more but mine are already pretty unpopular.

I agree with most of those! except for the young teens thing, ugh I think 12-15 year olds can really be the WORST
that's when the eye roll really kicks into high gear :rofl1:

Oh and I don't think race jokes are funny. I just think it kind of contributes to generalizing people by race

and yea.. if all the girls around me were like that , I probably wouldn't be friends with them either :rofl1:

I guess that opinion is formed by the fact that in my university, girls who say that tend to fit into a, b, c lol mostly because all other girls hate them lol
but exceptions do obviously exist, especially when there really are NO cool girls around to hang out with

Coming from one of the perfectly square states, it is pretty awesome. ;) However, it's not the uber glamorousness of Miami.

Then again, I can't fathom people who want to live in big cities. I'd lose my mind.

I've noticed when I have this convo with people, it's such a polar difference in what people actually LIKE as far as living more-so than the state themselves.

I hate the quiet. very large un-occupied open spaces freak me out. I don't like being isolated from anything. I need everything to be open at 3 in the morning. I hate the idea of not being in an apartment. I need activity all the time or I get restless. I like to be able to walk everywhere. Parks are my favorite places in the world. New movies, restaurants, shopping, book stores, coffee shops are what I love/look forward to for entertainment.

So more so than the state themselves, it's that I don't understand WANTING the stuff people like about those states because I don't.

The quiet, the space, the outdoorsy stuff, knowing everyone... I would lose MY mind lol

but yea, not hatin on your states guys lol they will just always remain places that I would like to visit, but not live.

and Miami is anything but glamorous sometimes :rofl1: we have a very love/hate relationship

I do like race jokes as long as they are ok with the group you are with. I mean I don't walk up to random people and tell them white people jokes or anything like that. But I think when done in good fun with friends making light of race makes it more of a non-issue that complete avoidance of any sort of race talk.

I don't mean going up to a stranger and dropping anything like the n bomb. But my friends will jokingly tell me to go cook them a meal of strange unidentifiable meat. And I remind them to offer me fries anytime they treat me to dinner.

We even joke about doing a stereo type pot luck someday. But I can't cook rice and friends there said they weren't going to cook that much chicken.

And I know teens can be rough. But the younger teens 13-16 just crack me up. They are young enough they still say and do crazy things but they are old enough I can take my friends kids somewhere and not panic because they started crying and I don't know what they want and I can usually, with a well behaved teen, reason with them.

I love Lady Gaga, and the Twilight books sucks and the movies suck even worse lol

I love the country lifestyle but I do not, in anyway, like to isolated.
I LOVE being around people, things to do, etc.
I love being outdoors (camping, hiking, parks, etc). But I want it to be a choice/vacation, not a lifestyle.
I am to much of a social butterfly/people person, to be isolated.

And coffee shops are the sh!t, I <3 them. Just needed to add that.

I hear FL has some of the best coffee EVAR!

Some of the new tall slouchy boots make the wearer look like a wannbe pirate.

I can't imagine having rats or snakes as pets.

I think most people are idiots.

I don't think your profession necessarily defines you as a person, nor should it.

I thought the Occupy movement was awesome. I didn't necessarily agree with much of the message, but I think a little civil disobedience is good of the soul.

The think if the American Revolution era colonists had the same attitudes then that most Americans do now, we would have a likeness of the queen on our money.

I hate the terms "fur kids," "fur babies," and "fids" (feather kids). Too cutesy.

Inflatable holiday yard decorations are tacky.

I honestly cannot stand busy places and I would rather live on a few acres far enough away from civilization as possible. I hate where I live with a passion because it's too busy here and too many people. I like small town settings, but at the same time I'd like to have some city/urban area maybe about an hour away or so for when I get those aches to go to a mall or something.

I do not dislike prong collars. I used to be unsure about them, but learned how to use them correctly and I feel they can be useful on the right dog. I use a small one on Cricket. I would never use one on Bamm.

I agree with Sparks on rehoming animals. I think there are definitely situations where the best thing for the pet is to rehome to a family that is better suited for that pet.

I know I have more... Just have to think on them
