Okay here is what happend that caused the litter of pups.

I had recently went to Basic Training for the airforce. Our dog Mason we got to keep misty company while I was gone. When we got him it was planned to fix him, the date was set. However my leave to basic was pushed sooner, the vet visit was after I had left.

I gave the money to the person who was watching our dogs while I was away. If I knew now what I didn't know then, I would have done something differently. At the time however time was against me and everywhere I went and called and ask to et him fix sooner, was no good, everyone was booked.

So believing in my friend to do the deed for me, I stricktly told them, do this for me, if anything at all, here is the money, please don't wait.

I was gone and was I'd say a good 2,000 miles away? No phone calls, only letters. Any news on the vet visit? No reply.

So after 5 weeks, I sadly got medically discharged (not going into details what happend).

Home bound, Happy dogs! Missed them so much, so much whinning, like it was years or something lol. The news? Not fixed? What?

Fixed and sadly too late. Now he is fixed and I should have done something more if I again, knew now what I didn't know then. I wouldn't be in this mess and be getting put down for this litter. I love my dogs and didn't want puppies now or anytime soon.

I am sorry for what has happend. But the birth of the pups does not help the population, but I have found homes for all and will not allow them to be taken if an agreement of fixing is not met, which I'll get it in writing and if not find a way to get them fixed before giving them up.

So now thats done, lets get back to my wonderful dogs and their cute pups, all healthy, 9 for her being a first mom, not still borns ect. They are 1 week and 2 days old.

Does anyone have a good walkthrough on raising them to their 8-9 weeks and further if neccisary?

Ok seriously people? She didn't come on here and go "Yay!! I bred my mixed dogs and they had puppies and please tell me how wonderful I am"

She owned up, she made a mistake, she's dealing with it and she took steps to prevent future issues. Should it have happened in the first place? No, not in an ideal world. But it did and so this is the reality and I don't think she needs to be lambasted and once again go through a thread telling her how irresponsible she is.

What do you want her to do? She can't put them back. lol!

Your dogs are adorable, I really love Misty, such an expressive face and Mason looks like a card. I hope the puppies are all healthy and you get through the next couple months with them without anything eventful happening.

A word to the wise, no matter what forum you go to things are going to be said, it's the way of a forum. Pointing out what rules you think they are breaking to them is not a good way to start and isn't going to make you any friends fast. I get it, you're gun shy and are just looking for some people not to tear you down but that's never going to happen if you get upset and snarky at the first hint of conflict

Looking forward to watching the puppies grow, do you know which one you are going to keep? Male or female?
:hail::hail::hail::hail: I couldn't agree more with any of it! We have had accidental litters here and NO chiding at all! If you want to make clear your disapproval of more mutt puppies in this world for the lurkers, just say something like what the OP suggested.

(I also think Misty especially is a gorgeous gorgeous dog)

Thank you for sharing :)

I will point out that you may want to make sure you know the people who you are giving the puppies to. Even if you have them sign something saying they will not breed them, if they do, there is nothing you can do. That contract will be worth the paper it is written on.

I have never raised a litter, so I will keep that to others who have more experience with that :)

Thanks! Sorry for how rude I was, you guys were not to harsh on me s another forum, however I do deserve some of what was coming, without a story, but this is lesson to be learned from both sides, me - stoy first, others- if no story ask for it kindly.

:D

This is my first time with pups, I hear it is hard, we are ready for it though, each day is something different, its fun and its sad to think of what could be, but I'll do anything in my power to make sure that each has a wonderful life, like I would want for my own two dogs, the puppies will forever be apart of my family, as they are my dogs pups, I feel like a grandma. A grandma thats upset how it ended up, but there for them every step forward and back.

However on a lighter note, here is some pictures of Misty, before birth, showing her friendship with my rats.

Pretty dogs!

Honestly, I don't even talk about my intentional, well-bred litter from titled and fully health tested parents here. From what I've seen before, you got off pretty clean in this thread. ;)

Welcome to Chaz. It's not so bad if you ignore the people who jump down everyone's throats sarcastically instead of saying anything helpful or educational :)

How old are the pups now? They're cute. Hopefully they are all healthy...definitely send them to new homes with spay/neuter contracts as well as that the puppies are not to be rehomed without your knowledge and that you will take them back at any time if the new family can't keep them. Good luck, stick around and post more pictures of momma and daddy!

Thanks for posting pics, your dogs and the puppies are beautiful! and I NEVER say this lol but that is a really cute rat!!

and I agree with Linds. Post of the WEEK at the very least, she owned up to her mistake and there is no need to attack, at least she is being responsible and finding the pups good homes, what's done is done.

The only thing lurkers will see if they wander across a thread like this and all we do is attack and belittle is a forum full of of angry people with pitchforks who would rather attack than offer help. WHATS DONE IS DONE, why not offer advice instead of sarcasm and guilt trips?!
She KNOWS her mistake, owned up to it, and is doing all the right things and finding these puppies homes. Its not like she came here selling puppies or talking about her new big breeding operation
What is that saying about the first stone? ..we ALL have made mistakes.

or how about that one about honey and vinegar?
What good do you REALLY thing running off and belittling people with oops litters and the like does? It sure does feel good maybe, but it helps NO ONE especially the dogs/puppies in question.

Ugh. Off soap box.

Again, adorable pictures and glad you've decided to stick around. I'd love to see the pups grow and even would love to see more pictures of that little rat!

What are the ratties names? We have a few rat owners on here, unfortunately I'm not one of them. But we all love rat pictures!

In most pictures you see with Misty, that rat is mine and his name is Max. The other one, with more black on his body and with misty in the picture with both rats and dogs, his name is Mitch and he is my husbands.

Both are brothers.

One of Mason's sons, the one that looks the most like him, he will be homed with my mother, she loves Mason so much and decided to take this pup and she is very happy and so are we, so we will always be able to see the puppy, I also will try with all pups to stay in touch with everyone forever.

I like the yay puppies, but the rolling of the eyes is just wanting to start trouble, which I did not ask to be rolled eyed at
I think it may have been a reference to another thread where you also forgot to tell the story of the puppies before you posted pictures in the hopes of "yay puppies" responses.

Since you did get the "yay puppies!" response, I am not sure what the problem is. ;)

Everyone on here was exceedingly nice in comparison to the usual.

No need for sarcasm, in the beginning of my post I said they were an accident litter. So go roll your eyes on another topic or forum, I came here to find understanding and mature adults, guess you find them on all forums eh?

Not backyard moderating here but read the rules. Like number ; 1,2, & 6. I like the yay puppies, but the rolling of the eyes is just wanting to start trouble, which I did not ask to be rolled eyed at and these puppies maybe mutts, but all dogs that are pure breed are breed from two different breeds.

Each and everyone of our dogs that we have, cherrish, love, and some cannot live without, came from mutts, came from accident litters.

So please enough immatureness and ruining my wonderful dogs and their wonderful children topic. :)
Unfortunately maybe you need to read the rules better yourself. Adding an emoticon isn't name calling. But this post kind of is. As is calling a member with over 1000 posts a troll. You also aren't uneducated about puppymills and backyard breeding as you fled another forum which gave you a long hard lesson in it so rule 2 doesn't really apply either.

Also have to agree that there's nothing wrong with mutts, but there's nothing purebred about these dogs and I don't even get the logic in that part of your post.

Since it's a forum and anyone can post, you get debates. It means not every topic ends up sugar and spice, rainbows and butterflies. Litters from un-health tested parents who really shouldn't be breeding, accidental or not are always a heated topic on any forum where people are passionate about over population. Your dogs aren't children. Their puppies aren't children. Children grow up. These dogs are dependant on you for the rest of their lives.

I think you've gotten good advice from the majority of the posters here. Even just about the mindset you have about your dogs/pups.

With new life in the house like a litter of pups I can see how easy it is to be over-joyed and only want to focus on the positive. Please understand that we, usually with posts like these, are looking at the whole picture. Past years, now, years to come, everything. We aren't the type of community that goes 'Oh! cute pups!' then leaves it at that. We think 'oh, how did they get to this point?' 'why weren't the dogs fixed?' 'what will happen to the pups?' 'what type of homes will they go to?' 'how will they be raised and socialized?'

Does that make sense? Maybe that will help you see where people were coming from a little better? :)

I would say *most* people on our forum, after you explain your situation in detail, understand and want to help.

Dekka and Sizzle would be great people to talk to first hand about raising a litter and what things need to be done and at what age.

I would start socializing them to sounds and touch at this young age. Pots falling, doors closing, music playing, hair dryers, washers, talking, etc. Touching ears, tails, feet, etc.

I do hope if you have a genuine desire to learn about what is best for your dogs and pups you will stick around. This place is a wealth of knowledge and experience.
