Other dogs take a Milk Bone from your hand. Not Katie. She'll sit in front of you and open her mouth. You have to insert the biscuit. And if she doesn't grasp it firmly enough and it falls? You have to pick it up and reinsert. (And yes, I do this. I have a big S tattooed on my forehead for SUCKER!)

NB: Oddly enough, she has no trouble liberating pieces of chicken or leftover steak from my hand. None at all. Enthusiastic, you might even say.

Ooooh, not me.

I'm working with a dog right now who drops about half the treats I give her. It's usually ok, but this week we were working on loose leash walking, and every two steps she was stopping to find a treat she dropped on the floor. So we implimented a new rule: If you don't manage to get it out of my hand, clearly you didn't want it badly enough and I'll take it back. If she drops it on the floor, I stop and pick it up and she doesn't get it back. It's amazing how quickly she learned how to eat treats. :D

Awww...that's cute. At least it's better than having a barracuda disguised a dog. But yeah, I guess she'll have to figure it out like Lizzybeth says if it is annoying to you.

We have Milkbones at work, and they always give Fozzie a bunch of them when I bring him to daycamp. He has now decided that he's over Milkbones, but so as not to offend, he'll hold it in his mouth and spit it out just as we leave the lobby... I agree, Milkbones are nasty things not suitable for a carnivore.

I meant "MilkBones" in a generic fashion. Actually, they don't like 'em. After trying out every crunchy known to man, turns out they much prefer the generic ones from PetSmart. :yikes: Could be worse. They COULD have a jones for Ol'Roy.

And sure, I could correct the behavior if it bothered me. I think it's cute and funny, though. You can never have too many smiles in life!
