I thought we had progressed farther than this, at least.

My opinion is-- just let people do what they want. If you feed raw, fine. If I feed kibble, fine.
That is all.
And then there's me, a total misfit.........I feed kibble and HOME COOKED! :lol-sign: Yes, that even includes VEGETABLES! :yikes:

No, I do not believe my dogs 'need' vegetables to grow 'big and strong' like human children, so don't mistake me for anthropomorphizing my dogs.

1.) I do believe in cancer fighting agents that many vegetables have been shown to provide. Our dogs live in the same environments we live in (obviously) and are exposed to the same things we are. If I can offer them something that causes no harm and could possibly protect them from cancer, you bet I'm going to do it.

2.) Orson loves veggies. Seriously, that brute will drop his RMB for a chance to steal a carrot, LOL

Potential good + loves it anyway = win win :)

Ah veggies. A good fight.

So my biggest current issue with the dogs and raw is the poop. Well, the not pooping. So feed more organs, right? But a chicken already has about the twice the meat to bone ratio of a pheasant, or a wild rabbit, or so on. I'm starting to think that the feathers on small birds actually ARE important to the digestion.

Maybe veggies would help... But I don't want them trying to graze in the garden. They both like brocolli too much, and Buster really likes carrots (though, he hasn't learned to dig them out yet, it wont take long).

Miles (roomie's Pomeranian) is on Blue Wilderness (kibble), and Daisy and Rocky (parents' dogs) are on mostly raw, although if we forget to thaw something out, there is a small bag of Innova that serves as backup. All the dogs loves carrots and apples and bananas. Daisy and Rocky both like green peppers and stuff like that. Daisy isn't fond of lettuce unless it has dressing on it for flavor. Give her a naked piece of lettuce and she looks at you like "Why are you trying to feed me leaves? That's not food!" lol

My own dogs, when I can own my own dogs, will likely be fed a combination of kibble (either Kirkland or a new grain-free brand Costco now carries called Nature's Domain, both good food) supplemented with raw meaty bones to clean the teeth. I plan to have multiple big dogs, so I think this will prove more cost-effective.

I read a very good book about raw diet, it is called "Raw Meaty Bones" and it is written by Dr. Tom Lonsdale, DVM, a vet who practices in Australia, I believe. The book can be very technical, and it is mostly about how much raw can improve a dog's dental health (thus improving their overall health, since a gross mouth can lead to other problems), but it is a worthwhile read, IMO. Here is his website for interested parties: http://www.rawmeatybones.com/

When I'm cutting up veggies, I usually give the dogs a piece of whatever I'm cutting up. Same with fruit. They eat mostly anything.

Lettuce, strawberries, and blueberries are the crowd favorites.

They love yogurt as well.

Okay, okay... they love pretty much anything edible (and even things that aren't). Haha.

So I just read this whole thread, and I can't tell if it was serious or everyone got trolled. My head hurts.
This. :rofl1:

I'll add that all 3 pets (and foster) are on kibble currently. I had the ferrets on raw, but then discovered that Renegade is allergic to meat :wall: He had both E. Coli and Salmonella poisoning that nearly killed him a while back, coincidently while he was feeding raw. I never came on and said "OMG RAW IS HORRIBLE AND IT WILL KILL ALL YOUR PETS". Was it the raw he got sick from? I don't know. He may have gotten sick if he wasn't fed raw. I can't say if he would have or not, because, well, I'm not psychic. I also can't turn back time, never feed him raw and only kibble to find out. My other 2 ferrets were fine on it.

I'm planning on feeding future ferrets raw, once he is gone :rofl1: I'M GOING TO KILL ALL MY PETS.

Tucker-- alright then. I have yet to meet a civil pro raw. Maybe if there were more out there, more people would be interested in the transition.
Lulz. I am definitely pro-raw, and if I couldn't pull off civil, I'd be out of a job!
I feed 98% raw (exactly, I measure. not really) and work at a pet food store where most of our business is kibble. Somehow I manage not to offend ALL the customers.

Yeah, somehow I sell grain free kibble all day at work while feeding my dogs exclusively raw and manage not to chew anyone a new one. Somehow.

WITCHES! It's the only explanation. WITCHCRAFT.
That explains it! I feed raw and am definitely proraw. Excluding rare cases I do wish all dogs were on raw. However I support people feeding kibble and will use it myself occasionally. I have MANY people in the dog world who have my total respect and they feed kibble. I will help people learn to read packages and research nibbles, etc. But, I am a witch so that must be the reason
