Okay I know I used to not be a fan of the breed. And everyone knows how Sawyer came into my life and changed my mind. And now I find myself defending the breed.
I didn't post this sooner because I have been sick and literally have not had the energy to even get on the computer lol but that a whole other story.
Anyways. About a week ago I went to the dog park with the boys (Maggie doesent do well at the dog park). So I was there with a friend of mine and we were watching the dogs play. Both Sawyer and Morrison did really well and didn't cause any problems.
We were sitting on a bench and there was a woman and her friend on a bench next to us. I called Sawyer over and he apparantly walked to close to this woman (she had two Australian Shepherds). And she kinda throws her hands up and goes "Ugh I hate Labs". Which I thought was extremely rude because we were sitting just a couple feet away and it was clear that he belonged to me.
So being the brat I am lol I held Sawyers head in my hands and said "We don't like herding breeds do we buddy?". Then the woman went off on me about how rude and petty I was. I just rolled my eyes and ignored her when she spoke to me. My friend and I stayed and watched the dogs play for anouther thirty minutes. They weren't in anyones face or being obnoxious at all. I was actually really proud of both of them.
Im so sick of it though. I hear it all the time. How boring my choice of breeds are or how annoying. And of course I also hear how "Stupid" hounds and cocker spaniels are as well.
It especially bothers me when my dogs are being perfectly polite and well behaved. I don't know if they are expecting Sawyer to be like Marley. But he is far from how Marley was. Because I trained him and socialized him and made sure he had manners.
Its just annoying that when people see my dogs or hear I have Lab and Lab mix they expect them to be insanely hyper active bad dogs.
