I've noticed a lot of people also call female cats (and sometimes dogs) "Mama."
I understand nicknames, but "Mama" or "Little Mama" has always confused me.

Well technically she's not a Princess either.

It's just a name, like 'champ' or 'chief' for sons. They're not champions, and they're not chiefs of tribes, but there ya go.

I haven't heard this. I have heard people say "little mama" in reference to females who were not parents but it was always adults/young adults. The only time I have heard it in reference to toddlers is if a little girl is "mothering" a doll or stuffed animal. Like "awww, such a good little mama" etc.

Thats weird.

This

It just a term. And for some its cultural.

Hannah has been called little mama and little mami. Its not said in any creepy way or anything

I find people using "my kid". Or "your kid" to be worse . Thay is one that annoys me. Iguess cause it always sounds hostile compared to other references

We do this a lot in my playgroup  Like, if someone else's kid starts crying "Oh God, what did my kid do to your kid" It's kind of a joke. I think it's funny. I would never say it (seriously) to someone else about their kid. Unless I was really really mad. I could see myself saying it to a parent if an older kid was being intentionally very mean to Chloe and the parent stood by and did nothing. (Like, a stranger at a park or something).

Ya i dont know seems whenmi hear anyone refer to someone as "your kid" or "my kid" its with disdain. Just always comes across that way to me.

Little mama or mami is usually a term of endearment by people who were brought with that term of endearment. Mama and mami are often used for people who are not mothers just as a general term. Its not one i use but i hear lots of others using that term that way around her.

And i never feel the need to go off on someone who is trying to be nice even if its not my ideal term

I NEVER heard that term growing up and only hear it from certain people and sometimes not in a context ANYONE needs to be talking about my daughter in.

like today it was: Little Mama is looking HOT today.

Im sorry but do not refer to my 3 year old as hot. She is cute, pretty, adorable but she is NOT hot and should not be refered to as such.
