I love reading all these stories. hopefully in the not to distant future I can add to it.

Blaze was not a rescue in the sence. since he is from a petstore. but if you would have seen where he was kept and all the other animals, you might thinka bit different. picture dead animals in cages )birds, rats, lizards. ect, terrible dingy/ammonia/death smell, dark store, no food or water. luckily they were shut down not to long after we got Blaze.

Also before joing chaz, and before I knew much about petstores. but I dont feel guilty at all about buying blaze fromt here. Inturn we also helped shut down the store. with all our complaints.

And before joining chaz, I had my 2 foster puppies, I kept for about 2 weeks before handing them over to the humane society, broke my heart. They were hound/rotti mixed. ADORABLE, one had the reverse rotti colour (she was light cream colour with even lighter cream rotti markings, beutiful )and one was all hound looking. my friend stole them for me, from the back of a warehouse in town. the people kept the parents as guard dogs. then decided after the litter, they didnt want any of them, said they were going to kill the litter, there was 6 oir so remaining, my friend and her friend could only get 2, as momma dog was NOT happy at all with strangers trying to get her puppies away from her. After we got 2, the next day the owner killed mom and all pups and dad. sad pathetic person. I didnt know what to do witht hem, as I was 17ish, had no money for vet care. and decided best thing to do was hand them over to the toronto humane society at the time, so they could socialize them and get them healthy. It broke my heart to hand them over. I got a update about a month later, saying they were adopted together, made me cry with happiness. I should scan their photos and post them, just need to find them.

I rescued Reno in March. I was thinking about getting another dog (after telling myself I would never have 3 again!.. lol) and decided on an American Bulldog or Boxer. So I went to shelters and websites till I found an ad for an American Bulldog Boxer mix on Craigs list. There was no picture and if there had been I wouldn't have went because there is no way Reno is that mix. I guess I'm glad there wasn't a picture. If there had been I never would have gotten him and he is the best dog ever!!

The ironic thing is I had two Aktias in the past and after my first said I'd never have another. I really loved my first Akita but even after TONS of socializatoin and training she became very dog aggressive at a year and a half. This dog went to dog parks, training class, agility classes, I had dogs over a lot and she was very dog friendly till she turned a year and a half old. Then out of nowhere she became severily dog aggressive. We had to have her put down when she took all the skin (down the bone) off a black Lab that was walking with his owner down the street. She was in our fenced yard with an invisable fence and chained to a tree also. It was bad!

My second Akita was not planned either. I was at this lady's house and she had a 6 mon old Akita living in a cage that was too small. So I took her to find her a home and I kept her. She destroyed my house and could not be confined in anything. She seriously could get out of anything you put her in. She wasn't as dog aggressive but I could not trust her at dog parks or around other dogs. She got cushing a few years ago. I miss her even though she was not an easy dog!

I really wanted a dog I could do things with like dog parks, etc. So I said no more Akitas... answered this ad for an American Bulldog Boxer and it looks like he could be part Akita!

What are the chances?? Am I just destined to own Akitas???

I've had a lot of rescues since joining Chaz, but none of them have become permanent additions. I still love them, though.

Zaphod, my favorite big black mutt ever. He taught me so much. He's not mine anymore, but he has a fantastic home in Arizona.

Diesel, whom I didn't have for too long. Only a few weeks, before he found a great home.

Tidbit. She is now the most spoiled. dog. ever.

LB, rest well little one.

And now, I currently have a little foster who's still recovering from being very sick. He's a sweetie though! I'll get pics soon.

Jaspers been the only dog I really didn't plan on. I had Smokey before, who was a failed foster because we just loved him so much.
Hubby's friends at work are calling me the crazy dog chick...because of Jasper and his sock fetish. Nobody understands I tell ya! In the same breath, when they need a home for a pet we end up being the first people...I have the chance to adopt a cat right now *sigh* due to divorce...too bad I"m allergic.

Murphy, my boxer, came from animal control. We weren't looking for a dog for ourselves, but I am thankful every day that we decided to go with my husband's grandmother. I can't imagine life without him.

I don't know how I forgot these guys!

Paris, Vegas, Dallas and london. I fostered them from the shelter and they survived because of the help of chaz!

I got Squeeker, my female Beagle, from a family that "didn't have time for her anymore". She was about a year old when I got her and she wasn't even fully houstrained or leash trained. She was painfully shy, but now there are no more "accidents" and there is no way to hold back her quirky and outgoing personality!!

Snoopy, my male Beagle, I got when he was 4 months old. He was being kept in a kennel (not even with the owners) When I asked the lady I got him from what was the reason for them looking for a new home for him, she said that she bought him for her father that has anger issues. She was hoping that the dog would help to ease his anger problems. Well, obviously that didn't work.....so now he is living with me.

Hank, my male Basset Hound, I got from a breeder that got him from another breeder in the states. She claimed that he was afraid of men and has some nervous issues. Well, he does have a nervous personality, but we are making progress slowely but surely. When he first came to me, I wasn't able to pet him over the head or he would run off with his tail between his legs. Now I can pet him freely from any angle and I can play with him a little rougher without him getting scared.

As for dogs that I did not adopt myself,

There was Beth and Cole, an older bonded pair of white German Shepherds. I took them into my home and found them an awsome home out in the country on a farm with other dogs and animals to live with. I still keep in touch with the couple that adopted them. They are really happy.

And more recent is Sonja, the Mastiff cross that came to me from Montreal. She was found tied to a fence abandoned. We know nothing about her past life, but she is a really great dog. We are still looking for her forever home. But I don't mind at all about her staying as long as possible with me and my gang!!

Janroni is the only one I got from a regular littler of puppies. But by far, he is one of the most original dogs I have ever had the pleasure of having!!

I don't really understand why there are people who are very harsh to their pet. Some are making them food. These are pets that needs care and attention.

I rescued Shane before joining Chaz, but I joined Chaz because of Shane. And thanks to other, more experienced Chazzers have survived crate training and other puppy problems, well...at least those that have happened so far..lol.
I've rescued many dogs and cats over the years, in fact my husband told people forever that if it walked across the yard, I would grab it up, take it to the vet and have it spayed or neutered. LOL. Not completely true, but before the fence was put up, we did have many drop-offs, especially cats. I had to set a live trap for one female cat (didn't know she was a female until she came into heat, and every tom in the neighborhood came calling), took her to the vet to get spayed, she was so wild he had to back her into a corner of the cage and give her the sedative shot through the cage. LOL. and supposedly she had taken a sedative in the food left for her in the cage. She slowly became tame enough to pet after that.

We adopted our little Stella in June. We had just lost our beautiful 13.5 year old lab, Sadie, in April. No dog would ever replace our Sadie, but I knew we had more than enough love for a new dog. I searched Petfinder for weeks.....looked at hundreds of dogs.....looking for specifically a black dog....since they have such a hard time finding a home....

One afternoon I found this little face staring back at me from Petfinder.....

I had to have her. I contacted the local rescue who had posted her and found out she was being fostered down in Louisiana. Her previous owners didn't realize they would have to "brush her so much" and gave her up. One week later.....we drove down to the rescue and picked up our Stella.

We were nervous....adopting a dog we only saw in a photo online....the rescue workers were WONDERFUL and did not exaggerate when they described our Stella as "sweet"!

I loved her from the minute she bounded into my arms and covered my face in kisses!!!! She is so sweet, smart, goofy, loveable......

We rescued her and she rescued us right back!!!!! We still miss our Sadie, but Stella is Stellar!!!! Sadie would approve!!!

I love taking a hand in saving these animals. To nurse them back so they can have a good life again is amazing. I try to take in and train them so when people want them they're not crazy and ignorant to home life.

Charlie the mean little guy who was thrown to the curb for acting like a dog..

It's odd because we've yet to see any of that mean behavior.

Before Chaz, but we rescued my beautiful boy Fozzy at a year old. He was due to be euthanized the day we brought him home. We shared 12 years with him before helping him to pass.

I'm quite positive that my next dog will be a BC or a BC mix from a rescue, since so many fine BCs wind up in rescues.
