Someone please explain the appeal of Sarah Palin. I don't see anything about her that gives me any confidence in her leadership or her intellect. I just don't get her at all.

A side from Conservative vs Liberal or Progressive vs Reactionary, I don't mean her politics (I don't want to debate that here, that is for another thread), I mean her persona. It scares me to think we could have someone dumber than "W" in the oval office.

I have a couple of friends in London and they are just shocked that people in the states vote for people like that.

Can someone explain her appeal? Why do people like her? Is it a women thang I just can't understand? Is that "I am just like you" thing?

Nope.

I had to laugh. My parents were watching Faux (as always) the night before she was set to make her debut as part of the "team." It was hysterical to watch the commentators TRY to find something positive to remark on, some reason her addition was going to add to the Glory of Rupert Murdoch's Machine :rofl1:

I can't explain it, but I do like Sarah Palin. Part of it is because she believes a lot like I do, but the other part.. I'm not sure. :p

I do liking watching her on Fox and I watch that channel (not just her though, lol) every night.

I once saw Sarah Palin, in a white robe, and her minister, also in a white robe, calling on God to protect her from witchcraft. Seriously. I never quite recovered from that.

Do ya think it would work if we called on witchcraft to protect us from Sarah Palin? Or at least protect the wildlife?

Someone needs to do a video . . . catch some clips of her in the hunting helicopters, splice it in to the beach scene in Apocalypse Now with Ride of the Valkyries :D

That is the kind of wacky stuff that scares me about her.

It's like watching a train wreck. You don't want to watch, but you just can't help it.

I think her heart is in the right place... There's just not much brain there to back it all up.

---

Dear "R" party,

STOP APPEALING TO THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. Stop appealing to emotion. There are a LOT of REAL people out there with strong conservative/libertarian values who are FED UP with have brain dead 'pretty people' shoved on us.

You have a once in a century opportunity to take the country back from a nearly century long rape at the hands of the "Progressive" movement. Barack Obama is a gift from God. Don't **** it away appealing to Fox-ites whose vote you already have.

Run on a campaign dedicated to individual liberty, a free market, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and fiscal discipline and you cannot lose. The people who are working to hard for all the bullshit we have to pay for on the people who DON'T, are really paying attention now. And no, you do not need to NYT, etc all to like you. Screw them. The people are awake and ready for real LEADER. Not the petty tyrant we have now.

Make me want to vote for a Republican again. Or I will have to heed Madison's advice and vote my conscience, on a person who does not have a real snowballs chance of winning.

Signed,

Pissed Off Former Republican

Everyone I know who likes her seems to like her simply because she is a woman-although they will deny that. But you ask them why and there is really no answer.

One woman at work did not talk to me for months because I should have voted for a woman simply because she was a woman. Who cares is she agrees with anything I do,she has the parts(or lack of)so I should like her:rolleyes:

I've found it's mostly men who like her. And that's pretty much because she has boobs. And a fairly pretty face. I have yet to hear from anyone in person that they like Palin because of her intellect or her politics, but I've had a couple guys tell me straight up that they like her because she's "hot."

Because Clinton has a freaking spine (for the most part) and that scares some people. I don't agree with a lot of her politics, but on that front I kind of admire her.

Boobs! Annnnd...that's it. Oh, entertainment too I reckon. She's one of my favorite comedians.

Because lots of men think she's hot Bah ha ha.
To be fair, lots of women voted for Kennedy because they thought he was hot. Or so rumor has it, I can't really say that I was there.

That ship has sailed already.
Tee hee Eddie!

I like her. I think she's cute and funny and I'd like to hang out with her. I don't agree with all of her politics, but I agree with some of them. I like the fact that she is unapologetic about what she believes in even though it's not always popular. I think she has lots of personality, and I think a lot of people don't LIKE her personality - but I do. I like that she says things like "bless your heart."
But I guess that makes me the lowest common denominator.

I'd also like to hang out with George W. Bush while we're at it.

Have you seen the Harold and Kumar sequel? Escape from Gitmo or something like that? There is a scene where they end up in W's ranch smoking pot with him while he "hides form his dad". It's freaking hilarious. I picture a meeting with him like that :rofl1:

I agree. I like her attitude and I do agree with a lot of her politics. I like that she is more of an average person.
