I can easily answer the original question. Sarah Palin's appeal can be summed up in one sentence. Her husband is HOT. Eye candy. No question.

He is perfectly suited to the job of First Spouse, since his function would be purely decorative. And they could reduce the deficit by putting out a calendar with pictures of him draped over various machinery, snowmobiles...motorcycles, that kind of thing.

Have you seen the Harold and Kumar sequel? Escape from Gitmo or something like that? There is a scene where they end up in W's ranch smoking pot with him while he "hides form his dad". It's freaking hilarious. I picture a meeting with him like that :rofl1:
LMAO! I haven't seen it, but I WAS actually going to say something about him dragging brush around on his ranch, haha! Last year during football playoffs I was watching a Cowboys game and they cut to showing GW in the VIP box, and I was like "DUDE! I'm watching football with GW!" I would so watch football with him any day of the week, man.

ETA: OMG drmom, I forgot about her husband. He is a cutie for sure. I think you may be on to something about reducing the national debt, LMAO.

I have no idea lol then again, I've never met anyone that liked her.

I think shes annoying, her hair style is ugly, and she shoots wolves from helicopters.
you want to hunt? ..whatever. but don't do it like a little bitch from a helicopter.

shes really an intellectual lol

the demoncrats have been appealing to the lowest common denominator since before lincoln was president. it just took this long for republicons to sink to that level so gratuitously (they used to be sneakier about it).

Beanie
hit the nail on the head
the average person believes the average person is more altruistic than career politicians. she was sold as an average person that got into politics reluctantly & cleaned house on corruption at the state level. there is a small degree of truth to that.
when you ask the average person on the street if they are willing to allow highly regulated drilling in ANWR to drop gas prices by a dollar most would say yes. A LOT of her supporters understand this stance w/o having to hear the question exactly that way. in a lot of ways she takes a stance the majority of lower middle class can identify with.
she's not my favorite but i understand the appeal beside T & A.

Fransheska
she was not engaging in sport hunting for fun. she was making a statement to rural alaskans that she intends to protect their primary food sources (moose & caribou) from an exploding wolf population. what alot of people down here don't understand is that AK is WILDERNESS. agriculture is insufficent to provide for their food needs and most if not all rural alaskans cannot survive w/o adequate herds of moose & caribou. wolves damage those herds both directly and indirectly. in addition to the ungulates they kill (but not necessarily eat) they also spread parasites for which they are the primary host. these parasites cause widespread abortion and dramatically increase winterkill and so reduce the population to the point that the subsistance hunting by people can become a threat to population stability. when left unchecked the wolves themselve become a threat to population stability. that is why there are alaskan state employees also shooting wolves from planes during any given week.
ALSO
that is not her in the photoshop monstrosity. Sarah Palin has a better body than that.
the reason you don't know anyone that likes her is because of your environment. most if not all major college campuses are WAAAAAY more liberal politically & socially than the average middleclass neighborhood. it's even worse at colleges in states that are themselves heavily liberal. if you went toschool in MT, UT or TX you'd have a better chance of meeting people that like her (not just the older crowd going back to school either).

Um.. there isnt any and she does a terrible job at acting as a human being?

As for the wolves, leave it to the park rangers.. on a political level, it's simply foolish, because you'll look terrible to folks focused(but not focused enough) on the environment.

To me, her persona is just dumb- a pop "politician". She is part of the fraction of America that is driving my interests in moving to another country. I feel as though she has been fabricated to appeal to ignorant masses.. Gross and creeeeep--y!

I like her. I think she's cute and funny and I'd like to hang out with her. I don't agree with all of her politics, but I agree with some of them. I like the fact that she is unapologetic about what she believes in even though it's not always popular. I think she has lots of personality, and I think a lot of people don't LIKE her personality - but I do. I like that she says things like "bless your heart."
But I guess that makes me the lowest common denominator.
I see how what I said could be taken this way. Just because you like her, does not make you the target audience, IMO. I mean, I 'like' her too. I just do not think she is a person who could win a high level Federal Office and I think the "R"'s push her for the wrong reasons.

So, I guess my question is... Would you vote for her for President?

I know... Which is why it pisses me off that the "R"'s are doing it too.

It would just be nice for our politicians to treat us like we are not morons.

At this time? No, probably not. She doesn't have the political experience she needs and it's obvious from what people have been able to do to her image that she doesn't have the right people around her either. The president is important but so are the people they surround themselves with, and I don't think she can surround herself and appoint to position the necessary people.
In the future, I can't say. Though I don't really think we need more of this in office. GW will have been dead for twenty years and people will still be shaking their fists going "THIS IS ALL BUSH'S FAULT!!!!" LOL. She already has had so much time and money spent making people who have never met her and never talked to her completely HATE her. Just look at this thread. The job of the president isn't to have people like you, but it sure does help if they do. (For a few months anyway.)

Beanie, 20 years from now we are still going to be paying on the interest accruing from the debt for Shrub's War, among other things :(

It takes a very long time for the idiocies and criminal acts of an administration to be overcome, but sadly it takes very little time for the worthwhile accomplishments (not that we've had many in recent history) to be totally nullified.

you know it's been quite a while since i've heard her name or heard any story about her and life was good. Why now?

The woman is nothing more than a mildly attractive politician from a "rough" state that can't hold a complex thought or discussion with a 4 year old, but can sling inflammatory talking points and one liners with the best of 'em.

Haha, well, Switzerland would be ideal, or Quebec might work.. France, maybe even the outlands of Laos or Vietnam, or NZ, I'm pretty all over the place.

I'm curious to know what part of the spectrum you mean, since there are soo many :p

the people drawn to SP are less dangerous to the constitution than those who are vitriolicly opposed (meaning they aren't any more capable of an actual rational explanation against her than her televised supporters). both ends are pretty stupid and threats to liberty in their own ways but i find SPs supporters less threatening.
