Prayers and vibes sent, poor girl. Hopefully it's something quick and easy that a round of meds will clear right away :)

Just got back from the vet. They clipped her leg where she was licking. Its infected and hotspot like. Her temp was elevated, though she was quite willing to eat a benny bully treat the tech offered her lol.

After it was clipped they did this interesting laser treatment thing on the infected area and sent us home with antibiotics. She is all bandaged up, in pink vetrap no less, and is to wear her cone if she bugs the wrap. (though the laser treatment is supposed to immediately lessen the pain and irritation)

So horray for nothing terribly serious, just a nasty skin infection -that we have no idea how she got.

That's sounds exactly like what happened to Maya a while ago....completely not her normal self, and she ended up having an infection on one leg and a fever. Luckily, as soon as she got her first dose of antibiotics, she perked right up! Hope it's the same for Dekka!

Whoa, that IS good news! That's interesting about the laser treatment. I'd never heard of it before. Since Monday sometimes sprouts skin infections for no good reason, I'm going to talk to my vet about this.

I am so glad that Dekka is feeling better and may not have to wear the Cone of Shame. Heal fast, pretty girl.

steve got cold laser treatments for his muscle pull, but she lasered the paw pads that he burned through as well because she said that it would help speed healing.

i hope dekka is feeling 100% soon!

Glad it's nothing TOO serious!

Seems kind of odd to wrap a hotspot-like-thing though. Usually we clip the hair to let air get to it and leave it open. But maybe the laser has something to do with wrapping it?

The wrapping is just to keep her from licking it.. even with a cone on she rubs her face (in cone) on it. Its got gauze on underneath so its not air tight.

I am so thrilled with the difference with the lasering. I was pretty skeptical but its Dekka........ so if there was a chance it would help we did it.

On a hugely postive note even with puking up the antibiotic after an hour it seems to be helping. She is more active now and is interested in food. She has wiggly bum again!!! (cause I am eating dinner)
