All I have to say is if you want the new owner to take your requests and concerns seriously you might want to try being a bit more polite. I think everyone has concerns and that is understandable but I think this thread has taken a turn from expressions of concern to just flat out frustration and animosity.

I mean if you want your team to win you don't go to the game and boo the refs ;)
Well now, thanks for saying that. :)

I think an awful lot has been miscommunicated.. I think a start over was a good idea. The new owner has introduced himself in the new member forum. I think a lot has been taken out of context. I hope everyone is ready to sit back and see what happens which is all that anyone can really do anyway.

I have to agree with the majority here, From just what I have seen so far, I don't think the forum is headed in a very good dirction, I do hope that I am wrong.

I think that it could have been handled alot better. I think its just common sense to not make a post right after you bought the forum and say that things will be changed and then not say what the changes will be. I think keeping things secretive until they happen is a bad thing. and very vell could backfire.

Wow.

Just wow. I am actually shocked at how people have "welcomed" the new site owner, who without which there would BE no place for everyone to come together.

The people might make the forum, but you need a forum 1st for people to COME to.

I think a little respect for the person who is forking out their OWN money to keep the place running is in order. I don't see anyone else offering donations or time to do it.

Innocent until proven guilty, the poor guy has done nothing except say he was going to make some improvements that he obviously (stupidly) thought people might appreciate or like and he gets jumped.

I am actually embarassed on some peoples behalf, I have always been taught to respect the people who provide for you, and I think a little respect here is needed.

Chaz the forum owes noone anything. People bitching sound like spoilt brats.

How about a welcome, and a post about the things you already like about chaz to give meaty an idea of what works well???

Shocked actually, and that doesn't happen often.

On behalf of myself and my Bodhi, I want to say hello, and thank you for keeping the place ticking over, and hope to see it go well :)

I didn't know it was for sale. If chaz ever needed donations I would be right there!!

There are reasons people buy existing forums.. and its not usually so people who post on can keep on posting. (ads make money)

I guess you don't feel the same way about chaz as some of us. That to me would be like saying (pick community name of choice.. city, group country) owes its members/citizens nothing. I do think chaz owes its members something.. just the same way we owe chaz. Its symbiotic.. no we wouldn't be here without chaz.. but chaz wouldn't exist with out its members either.

Did you notice the welcome post made by MeatyTreats? I welcomed there, where a welcome was expected. I would not expect a welcome to be wanted in such a thread as this. I did post that.. and I did post links to where we all talked about ourselves.

Hey, I'd be the first one to "fork out" a little dough to keep Chaz running smoothly. I think a lot of us feel the same way. Not offering? Not asked, or even brought up in the first place. And if it had, I'm sure people would be ready and willing to financially support the forum they love.

And it's not a total financial sacrifice. I'm sure all those ads have to be paid for, in order for them to be put on the forum. I don't even pretend to know how much those ads bring in each month. But I'd be willing to bet that a small contribution from our active members would be more than enough to keep the forum running. I've seen it done on other forums - BIG forums, and it works quite nicely.

So please, don't rag on us for not taking responsibility for our home, when we weren't asked to do so and WOULD take responsibility if asked and allowed to do so.

Had someone come out and asked for monetary donations, I would have happily given a fair share to this fantastic community. Hell, I would be more than happy to help run it if need be, too. The person is giving their money and time to run this site by their own choice. I'm not saying it isn't appreciated, but I'm also not going to fall on my knees and bless the miraculous ForumGiver.

Welcomes are for welcome posts. This thread is us offering how we feel about the situation. I see very little rudeness in this thread, only constructive criticism, which I feel the new owner of this site SHOULD recieve, and listen to. We are, after all, the members of the community. As Dekka said, it's a symbiotic relationship. People have been giving their two cents, politely, this entire thread. Most opinions are "leave it the same", sure, but that's still an opinion. What's wrong with espressing opinions of what's happened?

There may well be reasons people buy forums, but as yet, I don't see anyone explaining why they bought this one, so how about not jumping to conclusions?

And you guess I don't feel the same way. You have no idea what I feel, so again, less of the assumption.

And you are basically repeating what I said, members with no forum are just people on the net. At the end of the day, it is symbiotic, and therefore I'd hope you'd have some respect for the person providing it. I have NOT seen him disrespect the place, all the poor guy has done is say hello so far. It's an embarassment how he has been addressed.

If you get a new boss at work, you ask them questions and you are polite and respectful getting to know each other, you wouldn't DREAM of talking to them the way he has been talked to in this thread. It is rude, and sets people off to a bad start before anything has even begun. How can you expect him to do the best for the forum, if he doesn't think he will be appreciated for his efforts or liked?

That is not being a sycophant, it is having a good working relationship.

I am not jumping to conclusions. No where did I jump to conclusions. Why are you jumping to conclusions.

Well I can only go by what you say, so its not much of an assumption if you said it.

Really? Perhaps you didn't read the same thread I did. I did see disrespect. I don't have any disrespect for MT. I did welcome (him?her?) I did give suggestions.

Well this person isn't the 'boss' They are the owner. If a company I worked for got a new owner I would be polite. I have been polite.. so I don't see why you need to bring this up to me?

Who is being a sycophant? Why should that matter. If you want to be one go for it.. if you dont' then don't. I dont' see what bearing that has on this thread.

I trust Renee when she says things will be ok. Renee has earned my trust and I am fine. Mis communications are easy on the internet. Some people are better than others at clearly stating what the mean and how they mean it. Some people have difficulties.

If you are all happy.. good for your. But your opinion is no more or less valid than any other member. So insulting other people is not setting a very good example either.

I didn't say anyone was being a sychophant, I said having respect for the new owner isn't being one.

And I believe this IS a working relationship so therefore being polite in a tricky situation is a given.

As for insulting people, I think maybe I'm not the one who should be worrying about that right now.

My posts are not directed at specifically at YOU, you happened to reply to my original post, so I replied to that, my posts are directed at those who were rude. If you think you fit in that category, then yes, it will have been directed at you, if not, then you are getting flustered over nothing.

I am not the least bit flustered.. Other than to see an insulting post. Not insulting to me per se but insulting to people who have posted their concerns.

The dismissal of other people's concerns and love of this community does upset me. I don't always agree with people's concerns.. but I at least respect their right to have them.

Ditto. Airing concerns is productive.

Being rude isn't.
