Orson is normally 100% potty trained as well..........BUT..........He averages about 2 poops in the house per year. These "poops" occur when it's RAINING heavily outside  He'll rush out to pee and hold the poop as long as dogly possible. If I attempt to FORCE him to stay out until he poops, he just goes in the dog house and pokes his head out to stare at me *sigh* Then of course by the time he WANTS to go out and poop, he's waited too long and don't always make it, LOL, like I said, it averages about twice a year.
Same with Rumor. If it's raining, she will hold it for days. She'll whine, I'll take her out, and then she'll realize it's raining and try to head right back in. When it rains for days and she refuses to poop, I usually try to crate her at night and whenever she's left alone. Although by the 36 hour mark, she usually has to go bad enough that she will finally go outside.

Bailey is (what I consider) fully potty trained. Has been reliable since probably about his second month with me, so about 4 mos. old. He was actually pretty easily potty trained, though the process itself was painful -- I had to set an alarm and wake up 1-2xs a night to take him out -- I lived in a high rise at the time, too, and I always had to carry him all the way down to outside (through the elevator and everything, lol) or he'd pee as soon as he left the condo.

That said, with his IBD, he still has accidents in the house sometimes when he has flare ups. And if he has to puke he always goes for the most expensive rug, lol.

she figures "my front feet are on the mat, so my back must be too" and she hits the edge.
oh my! I thought mine were the only one with this problem

The trays have helped ALOT but there will still be an occasional issue with that.

I dont know whether to say Armani is housebroken or not  He will never just "go" in the wrong place but he does have excited urination... however, I have learned to deal with it and almost never have any issues with it anymore, he gets a belly band on before new people come in and this has pretty much stopped all problems.

Chloe had a major overflow incontinence problem as a baby, she would pee in her sleep all the time, is was so bad they thought it might be an ectopic ureter... she has mostly outgrown it but there have been a few rare occasions where I woke up in a wet bed (thank god she weighs 4 pounds)

So, ehh they are mostly housebroken :lol-sign:

Day to day I dont have any problems but once and awhile

Gonzo and Fozzie haven't had any accidents since their first week with me... and even then, just one or two each. They will hold it for as long as they have to, even when they're sick! I love my boys for that. :)

I also want to mention that they have NEVER peed/marked in any one's house whatsoever. So many of my friends claim that their dogs are house-trained and they waltz in and pee on my couch (even female dogs)... I hate that.

Rose is not. She's about 90% but when the weather is bad she will hold it and hold it and hold it until she can't anymore. Luckily we're able nowadays to somewhat transfer that to the porch, still not ideal but it's better inside.

Mia is getting there too. She poos in the house every now and then but its gone down dramatically lately. I'd say she's 95% right now.

The others are good and I'd say Summer is 110% potty trained. She's only had one accident and she was very sick.

Belle was so hard to potty train. She'd just go wherever she wanted and wouldn't give any cues that she had to go out no matter how hard I tried to teach her. Now this was at the old place where I couldn't just let her out for a bit and then let her back in. We had to take her out on a leash and apparently she just couldn't concentrate on the task at hand while on a leash so she wouldn't go outside and would wait until she came back in. now that we have a yard though they are both pretty much 100% reliable. EVERY once in a while we have a little accident but those are very few and far between.

Juno was a piece of cake to housebreak. By 9 or 10 weeks old she was going to the door when she needed to go out (but she'd often pee at the door because we couldn't get to her fast enough), and I'd say she was 4-5 months old when I was able to start trusting that she would let us know every single time. She's 9 months old now... it's been months since she's had an accident. However, if she were to be left alone, I don't doubt she'd have an accident in the house.

Lucy is housebroken until she's alone. Then she has the mindset of, "well I went to the door and you didn't let me out, so I'll just go on the rug." So for that reason she's still crated when we leave, unless we're only going to be gone for a little bit and we know she was just outside.

1000000% We can spend 12 hours at work and then the ride home through the house until they get to the backyard to their spot. Not one accident for Izzie since she was 13 weeks (got her at 12 weeks), Chai since she was 9 weeks, and Ruby since 15 weeks.

Mindy, 100% and has only made maybe two mistakes back when she was a Pup...

Diamond, was 100% until she went blind, when the weather is really bad, she gets nervous and often makes mistakes because she is too nervous to be outside too long.

Foster, Mostly 100%, but will, on occasion, mark a spot, esp. if new/different dogs are around... Grrrrrr

Scandal, Not reliable, she will even mess in her crate! I have to be very vigilant with her... It drives me a bit batty, good thing she is so cute! She has gotten a whole lot better though, as I can't STAND dealing with messes that there are no excuse for!

Molly, well.... I rescued her as a 3 year old who had never been trained to go outside, period... She was Pee Pad trained. She is rock solid on them! I have her pretty close to rock solid outside now in the summer/spring/fall... Though I have to pick her up and put her out myself... she HATES being outside, I bet before I got her she was rarely ever outside! In the winter, it depends on the temp. she does poorly if it is say, -20... but not too bad at around freezing. I do keep a pee pad down for her always in case of emergency.

Chance is 100%. One time the doggy door was blocked and he was whining by me for like 10 minutes and I didn't know why, and then he had an accident. My fault. He was a terror to potty train though bc when he got home from the e-vets- he was so full of fluids he wouldn't even know when he was going. It was tough for a while, but then he got it.

Kody-100%. Never had any issues potty training him.

Bailey-ugh. If it is wet or cold outside, she finds carpet instead, but if I keep on her and take her out, she'll go.

Argon would sooner die than potty in the house. The only non illness related accident we had was a total rage pee. He was upset last easter because I confined him while we had Easter dinner and there were four children, three of them toddlers, in the house. I love him, but I do not trust him unsupervised with any child. The rest of the day was just chaos, and when the kids finally left, all the remaining adults just sort of collapsed in our chairs. Argon, who had been walked not 10 minutes prior and only marked a few places, marched into the room, looked at each one of us, and hiked his leg all over the fireplace. I probably should have been more upset, but by the time the kids were gone, I was about ready to pee on something, so I couldn't really blame him.
Neon is almost 100%. Sometime's he'll have these strange accidents where he'll pee a huge puddle, even if he's been out and peed not long before. Luckily we haven't had one of those in a while.

Dance is 100% potty trained. She was so easy to housebreak -- I could completely trust her not to have an accident by the time she was 5 months old, and even before then, I can only remember her ever having 2 (maybe 3) accidents in the house. She did go through a weird stage where she'd pee in my room at night if I didn't crate her, but she's been over that for a very long time and I think that was a health issue more than it was a behavioural issue.

Keira was 100% potty trained before we moved into our new house. Now she's stressed by the (incredibly annoying) dogs next door and it worries her to go outside, so she's had a couple of accidents in the house. I'm sure once she gets used to things again she'll be back to normal though. Right now I'd put her at 99%.

Ripley's about 90% I'd say. He hasn't had an accident in our house for a long time, and only about 5 in total. But he does have a play issue. If he's playing with the other dogs, he has no qualms about peeing in the house, therefore his freedom to play with the other dogs is very limited until he learns. I don't know why he does this -- this is a new experience for my family as none of our other dogs did this.

Maddie 110% -- only exception is illness. She tells me every single time. Even sometimes when she doesnt really need to go lol she'll even tell me if she needs to puke

Mia is housetrained. If left alone in the house too long she will wait until she feels like she is about to burts and lets out a lake  We're talking 8+hrs (which accidentally happened like once), she drinks a lot of water

Tucker will hike his leg in the house if not confined when left alone. Its more of a SA anxiety thing, but going in the house is going in the house. He's fine in Kayla's room.

Tara will scratch at the door to be let out. But I think she can only hold it around 5-6hrs, because she's been having accidents, but she's blind so I give her a lot of credit for scratching at the door! :)`

Cocoa has had 1 BM since she's been with us, but thats it! She's a good girl! Just wasn't used to our routine yet ;)

Awww. Yay! :) I was hoping she'd be good. :D The thing with Cocoa, since they were allowed to go in the house for so long - my mom actually cemented in and put a drain in the back porch so they COULD go potty in the house - I don't think she'd ever be the type to hold it in for hours and hours. I always had plans on teaching Cocoa to do the bell thing at the door, but of course have not yet had the chance.

Auggie was a huge pain to potty train as far as pee goes. He was one of those dogs that will go outside and play for HOURS, not pee, and then the moment he comes inside, squat and pee. I don't really remember how long it took - probably 6 months - but we got it done eventually. Getting him to poop outside was pretty easy but peeing outside was a PITA.

The only time he has even gone in the house since being a puppy was one time when he was having some bowel problems and it was my mistake, because I was brushing my teeth in the bathroom and heard him scratch the door, but I thought he could wait - he couldn't. Poor thing pooped on the floor. It was no big deal, totally my fault and I don't really consider that a failure of potty training. 99% of the time even when he has an upset tummy and diarrhea he will hold it until he is outside... I think there's only been one time he pooped all over his crate, and that was the one time I was REALLY worried about him too.

He is still, however, one of those bratty dogs that scratches the door when he wants to go play rather than just when he has to go potty. =P I've learned to watch his body language and know when he actually has to potty.

Sorry, this is off topic but I just couldn't help myself...

LauraLeigh, congratulations! Not so much on 1 day but on quitting in general. I became a non-smoker over 2 years ago and I will give you this bit of wisdom:

Your quit will be as hard as you expect it to be. I expected it to be easy and it was (I think there's a metaphor in there somewhere).

And by the way; except for a disastrous period after a house sitter brought her puppy with her for 10 days, Karl and Gracie are 100%

Sawyer is almost 100%. he's 100000% potty trained in the house, can leave him for hours and he'll hold it if needed. He whines or uses the bell or something to let you know he needs outside. Sometimes he just stares at me until I ask "do you need to go outside?" and he gets all bouncy and heads for the door.

Now, recently, he's been pooping at the office and has hiked his leg against the foosball table at least once. The pooping I attribute to the fact that it's a giant warehouse and when he gets to running with Alice, I think the urge just hits him and he has no way of letting anyone know he has to go right then. I keep trying to get JJ to hang a bell or something, or at least take him outside when he hears him barking, because that means he's playing and will have to go soon. The TOTW has been giving him some upset stomachs, which isn't helping.

All three are completely potty trained. Chuli took quite a bit of work for a while there, as she was one of those pups that had that "dirty puppy syndrome." She was 7 months old when I got her and had been allowed to pee and poo on newspapers or wherever at her byb's house. But now she is very good and will let me know that she has to go outside, if I haven't already let her out. I do offer them to go out about 5 times a day, at least. But if I'm gone all day on rare occasions, where I use to have an occasional accident from her, I haven't for several years.

Jose` learned in about 2 weeks....a very bright little guy, for a Chihuahua. LOL. And Toker is amazing. She'd hold it no matter what. Not that I let that happen. But she really would do anything in her power not to go in the house. All three let me know when they want to go out if it's in between times I offer for them to go out or if it has been longer than usual since they've been out.
