Frankly I don't think either one is "cooler" than the other. Just use what you're most comfortable with, and don't rain on the parade of people who prefer something different. ;)

PCs are better for gaming.

You can also buy them at WalMart for $400, and you get to talk to Ahhndieee in India for your tech support. ;) (from someone who has spent uncountable hours on the phone with tech support for Dell and HP . . . talking to someone with an incomprehensible accent and total inability to handle anything beyond the script) :wall:

People still call a company's tech support? The internet is there for a reason and has a much more knowledgeable base with no accents at all. Well, except for é, ë, ó, ú, et al.

I've never been able to make heads or tails of any of the Windows online support and had better luck bulling my way through figuring out hardware -- or just calling Buckshot. We speak the same language.

I was talking about computer forums. No company's online support has ever been useful in my experience.

I think the coolest is whatever works for you.
that said.. I will never again own a PC lol

I've had the vaio, the toshiba, the big, the small, the fancy.. Bad bad and worse and just ugh. No customer service, bad quality, I think each lasted about a year.

My macbook is my baby <3 best computer I've ever had, best customer service/care, I'm just overall happy with it for my needs as a student.

Now, maybe if my needs/life were different.. Id want a PC. but as it is, I think its the perfect computer for me and I'm very happy

so yea, I think my mac is the coolest kid lol

Go Linux!!!!! The online community is beyond Fawesome. Linux can run on both PCs and Macs. If your a gamer or addicted to watching Netflix on your comp, linux isnt for you.

MACs really are way to easy to get into. Ive had to add an admin account twice to break into a Mac where the owner fudged the PW. This was with Leopard, I can only hope they fixed it with Snow Leopard.

With M$ support never dealt with them as a user or a tech, if I couldnt fix it I did a wipe and reload. With my custom disk I could get it done in less then an hour.

Ive only had to deal with the Dell tech support once and the red dot indian actually spoke very good english even though he kept calling me Dane.

I had to deal with Intuit support once, and the only reason I knew he wast a native english speaker was he swore in some language I didnt recognize.

And we can also look at it this way. 94% of the people use PCs, and Mac users call them dumb. 5% of Mac users consider themselves smarter the the PC users and think they are invulnerable to viruses (this is true in my own family). Then there is the 1%ers, the linux users.

Honestly the Mac calls Ive gotten are even less computer literate then those using WInsucks.

Check out the Pwn2Own competition.

I've had the vaio, the toshiba,
Im going to prequalify this I have only been a certified tech for a year and a half and this is my opinion only.

Toshiba and Sony suck to work on when there are hardware issues.

If I remember the Kim Komando show correctly, Macs have a higher rate of repair then Toshiba or Sony.

ETA: Fran, if the Mac is working for you ignore my opinions about Macs.

I use a PC and have no problem with it. It's 8 years old and I use it ALL. THE. TIME. The only thing I've had to replace in 8 years is a vid card. I'd like to replace it soon, but in the meantime it works very well for all my gaming/internet needs.

Between my dad, my best friend and the big ol' internets, I can usually solve my own problems with my machine. Customer service with regards to tech support isn't really important to me.

My next desktop will be a PC too. I'm a gamer and I'm not blessed with a great deal of money to spend on a fancy name and customer support that I'll never use.

I do want a macbook one day. They look cool and seem to last a long time, and that's all I expect my laptops to do!

I'm a PC person. But then, I can fix most problems myself or with the internet, and Mike can fix most of the others. When I can't . . .well, I take it to the techs at the office, or if its something they aren't allowed to fool with, I take it to Best Buy and just pay to have them do it.

I find Macs annoying . . .although admittedly, the last time I used one was 10 years ago.

I <3 my macbook and our new iMac.

I can't see us going back to PC anytime soon.

Now on the other hand, my iPhone? BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY. It's great as a gadget, but is totally useless as a phone. Dropped calls, failed calls, half the time people can't hear me talking or vice versa, it's just totally useless. I'll be going back to a blackberry when it's time for another phone unless Apple shows some dramatic changes in the quality of the iPhone as a phone.

I like games so I like my PC and as lovely as mac books are I can't justify the price. They don't do anything better that I need done and they are many times the price. They are very pretty though.

I would want a macbook just for this lol

I also don't like how apple keeps everything proprietary. As an aside I am loving linux and other open source software.

ETA I have a cheapo desk top. Its an acer and I think I got it 4 years ago. Not a single problem. It was 600 at the time and still plays every game I have tried on it. (the reason I wanted a new one is our old one was to slow to play the current games)

I have an asus netbook that was cheap and its been taking a beating being carted back and forth daily to school and it works very well. Holds a charge for well over a day, or about 4 hours if you are watching vids/movies with sound way up. It was 300ish. Far far cheaper than a mac book. Not as pretty but fast and reliable.

I love my MacBook. I haven't had any issues with it *knock on wood*. I love how Apple products work... I just feel that they make more sense than PC's.

We do have a PC desktop upstairs in our office that we barely ever use. It's about 4 years old and still runs.

Really, it's all about what you're the most comfortable with. I don't think either one is "cooler." It just comes down to personal preference, since you're the one who is going to be using it.

Generally, I'm agnostic. I use what is available for the job at hand. Windows, Linux, Mac. Whatever. For day to day laptop/desktop use, my preference is for a Windows PC mostly for performance. I have 3 Macs in my office. All of them are slower than any of the comparably equipped PCs even for simple tasks such as browsing the internet.

So, for when I purchase a computer for home use, it's always a Windows machine. Building out servers to run databases or applications, as long as the application is supported, it's Linux.

Ditto. I can't see myself going back to a PC ever. I love my mac very much.

We've had no problems with repairs either. We broke one of our older Macbooks and took it down to the apple store. It was repaired within a day at no cost to us except we had to buy a new hard drive.

Here it's the opposite, Eddie. The PCs are slugs compared to the Macs. Even the old Mac vs. the new PC. That's one of the reasons my dad ended up going back and buying the new Mac right after he'd bought the new PC (and paid several hundred dollars LESS for the Macbook than he did the PC laptop) -- the little old G4 Mit and Nikki sent me SMOKED his brand new $2200 laptop ;)
