ummm..

Your high and mighty "well my dogs never...." sure neither had my dogs till I owned JRTs. Virtuously saying you have never had a speeding ticket when your car can only go 10 mph is IMO ridiculous. QUOTE]

:rofl1::rofl1:
Anyone want to go racing and play with the big boys and girls????

Ok then WHAT terriers have you owned? Were they working lines? Did they hunt? What did you train them to do? How did you train them? All honest questions.... I read your kennel kid post. But no where did you mention terriers, what exactly you did with the dogs, or how you trained. So now I am asking

Interestingly Snip never destroys toys.. yet he has the strongest prey drive. Many of the fosters I have had here shred toys and have very low prey drive. So I don't get how not letting your dog mangle toys (it does make economic sense tho) has anything to so with killing cats? Dekka is a maniac about destroying toys, yet is fine with cats.

And why do you assume I don't value other people's dogs lives? (you know what they say about assuming things ;)) If I didn't I wouldn't have invested so much time training. As I have mentioned before not all DA dogs are out to kill. Dekka has never done more than a tooth scratch to another dog. Its all noise and bluster. That and the fact she is 11 inches tall, I doubt there is a dog out there that's life is at risk from her.

Out of curiosity did you even look at the vid I posted? Do you see a lunging dangerous dog that should not be out in public?

Hmmm... Maybe killing toys is the first step in aggression escalating to the killing living things?

toys-->mice/rabbits/birds/etc--->cats-->other dogs--->people???

:rolleyes:

Never met anyone so vigilant about safety till Kerri. She knows her dogs. She knows their triggers and can pick up the dog who is about to cause a problem often before a problem ever happened. It's kept my dogs out of danger. Also opened my eyes and I read dog behaviour a little better now. Her telling me what to do has kept my dogs safe at her house, but obviously she has no regard for anyone else's dogs.

I believe that was referring to the "value of a dog" thread I started earlier today... in which many people, including myself, value our dogs (meaning, provide for and care for our dogs) over others dogs. Apparently it's a shame and is sad and lacking of morals. :confused:

Oh that is news to me!

I love my dog more than I love your dog. But I respect that you will love your dog every bit as much as I love mine, and that your dog is also the 'best dog in the world'.

Its very much like children in this respect. I love my child more than anyone else's. But that does not mean I don't respect other people's love for their children.

Maybe i will fail, maybe pepper will become a cat killing dog chasing maniac that slashes dogs into pieces. It has worked before, i grew up with terriers and they too were not cat killing prey driven machines, It worked at the kennels, so i see no reason that it should not work now. You all can stop talking like i am not here, being discussed in this way is bizarre. I don't need anyone to defend me for i am a big girl and can stand by my own words with my own actions.
Do not count yourself as special yet darlin, none of my dogs have ever killed a cat or harmed a cat, yes we had a cat for years and strays too to this day on my farm. I actually accidently locked my PROVE WORKING TERRIER into a crate once with a kitten and didn't know it until much later.........both were sleeping side by side, oh dear. Nor have my dogs ever been 'dog chasing manica's' including the RA Jrt that I have.........
Hmmmm my dogs have an 'OFF' switch as well even when they are highly stimulated.......wonder how that happened to ALL of them??? Funny never lived with less than 5 Jrts at one time, had a max 17 once (5 rescues included) and a small litter on the ground, all in the house, no kennels, all getting along.........gezzz its a miracle.
Hmmm don't have a dog in the house that hasn't been proven in the working field with the exception of my lovely little young bitch that just turned a year old. But that will be resolved within the next month when she gets to go hunting for the first time. Drivey little bitch, very pleased with what I am seeing so far......easy to train too......go figure. She was a gift from an Internationally known and respected Working Kennel........wonder why they gave her to me??? Incrediable pedigree of working dogs on her, nothing wrong with her temperament or conformation..........she certainly wasn't a cull............huh, have to think about that for a while. Could it be because they all sleep in our beds?? Under the covers too.......oh I know....its because I compete in agility as well and have a few Titles........that must be it, Working Kennels really want that on their dogs.......Titles, yeah that its.
Gezz I wonder how I did it without E collars to train ALL my dogs not to kill the neigbhors chickens, turkeys and Guinne Hens (sp??), they ll chase them and they would kill them, but I some how managed to call them off, even when the birds are on MY farm. And they have been called off deer and wild turkey's WHILE CHASING THEM.
Their stock broke, meaning they don't even look at horses or cattle (a must for working terriers btw) but Petie did take extreme exception to the neigbors donkeys breeding last year..........dang it but everytime those donkeys bred, he just had to let me know by barking........I would go to the window, yep their breeding again.......tell him 'I see it, enough now, good boy'. But for once everytime they bred, he barked which is unusual because normally you only have to tell him once..........Want to know how many times in a day donkeys breed?? I can tell you its about once every couple of hours.......Petie let me know.
Funny how all that was done with a bunch of proven working jrts? Now to be clear lets not confuse working and playing..........I mean the real deal, live quarry in a natural setting.........not a earthworking trial and a game called Go to Ground or Earth Dog or Super Earths..............
Now having said all that and knowing my dogs and having that special connection with them, especially with Petie......I am not STUPID enough not to understand that anyone of them at anytime may kill a CAT!!!

Doubtful that they will but what the hell, their dogs.......and their dogs bred to hunt small furry things.......maybe I should just get a good set of clippers and shave every cat in the area.................

OMG *dies.

Oh the mental picture that conjures up!!! Lynn sitting on a cat trying to clip it with horse clippers hehehehe.

Gasp.. too funny.

Seriously though. Other than Snip and Scandal (who had never seen a cat till she was older) all my other JRTs have known the difference between a cat and quarry. Impresses the heck out of me when they do. I mean really-look at a coon and a feral cat from a dogs perspective-not a lot of difference. I am impressed by my dogs.

That looks JUST like my Parent's cat!!!!!

Ferret (my JRT that did all the nasy fighting stuff with small female white dogs) LOVES cats-in a good way. The home she is in now that cat loves her too and will groom her.
