We've all heard the creepy "one flesh" shpeal. I wasn't however, aware of the fact that a marriage "SHOULD" be one person blindly nipping at the heels of your one-lined right-wing madness.

You speak of things as the way things "should" be. Your OPINIONS are always absolute certainties. Marriages SHOULD be this way, the government SHOULD be this way, your religion SHOULD be this way, Obama is a fascist because you said so. Your outlook on life is beyond skewed, and you're dragging your obedient wife along for the ride (after all, the bible says so right?).

Now, why would I be jealous of a relationship like that? ;)
:rofl1:

One lined right-wing madness? Thats a first for me. Honey, there is WAY more than one line to me, but keep drinking that kool-aid. It IS really yummy.

Sure, to me my opinions are "certain". TO ME. Further, I often can carry a good arguement in their defence. Being firm in ones belief system is NOT a bad thing. Sad that it seems it should be to you. If you got a better idea, lets hear it.

Obama is a WANNA-BE fascist, not because I said so but because his policies show that is how he wants to lean.

Everything I say is of course my opinion, but unlike you apparently I am willing to actually defend them. So instead of this silly banter, how about you tell us all WHY you have the opinions you do?

I'd explain the symbolism of "one flesh", but I doubt you could grasp it.

Now.... quick... both of you team up on me like you do in every other thread
Awwww..... Muffin....

:( How come you would make a racist statement like that? Obama is no more black than white.
It was a complete and total joke Fruitbat. I am from SA and we have white, black and coloured people. In the States you have the phenomenon of calling mixed race people black. So I refered to him in a term that I thought would be understood by all Americans. My comment was tounge in cheek.

I am the last person you would pegg for a racist, trust me.

speaking of racism, did anyone watch Leno Last night? Dustin Hoffman was on last night telling a couple jokes, and one was pretty old and dated. So they got on this old kick and he asked if anyone one heard Chris Rocks' joke about McCain?

Well He said McCain is so old, he used to own Sidney Poitier.

See, Puck? However small, we do have stuff in common. :D

Just for the record, I've seen some things that made me smile about Tanya and Brian's marriage, how they feel about each other, etc. I've also seen them disagree.

I have also seen Brian and Tanya disagree at times and there's nothing wrong with them agreeing or disagreeing.

So what if two people in a marriage agree a lot of the time. I've seen plenty a marriage where the two individuals had pretty much the same belief system on more than one account. Maybe in some cases one individual is just agreeing with everything their partner says because they lack a back bone... but in other cases they agree because they honestly both truly feel the same way about that situation. I think that Tanya and Brian's case is the latter of the two and I respect them both highly

Jessie... you say
Your outlook on life is beyond skewed, and you're dragging your obedient wife along for the ride (after all, the bible says so right?).
Are you referring to what the Bible says about the man being the head of the household??? If so... I'm going to explain my interpretation about what that passage is saying... I believe it is saying that the man is the protector of the family. He is to be expected to stand up and lead his family in the way of the Lord. I don't think it's saying that the man is supposed to drag his woman along on a leash and have her bending backwards to every command he beckons of her. Any person may read that passage and interpret a different meaning from it and whether or not or how you apply your interpretation to your life if you choose to is your own choosing. To each his own right?

Some may disagree with that passage... some may build their marriage to match their interpretation of it... who cares? It's their life and their marriage and if it works for them then I say more power to em... ya know?

Anyways... I'm sure I had more to say to shape what I'm trying to get across here... but I can't remember what exactly.

ETA: One thing I will say is that I didn't read this entire thread so I don't know what exactly sparked some of the comments I've read from various individuals. I'm sorry Jessie that I picked at your comment a little bit... there were just a few things said that I felt need to add my own little input to. I really hope you don't take it as an attack on you... but I felt some need to defend Tanya and Brian to some extent because I feel that they are leading their marriage in a direction they feel is best for their family and I applaud them for that. Not everyone may agree with that direction... but with that said sometimes we need to just say, "lets agree to disagree" shake hands and be on our merry way...

Well, I didn't read all 19 pages, and I usually don't even open the political threads, but I just had to say ~

I am denouncing my citizenship and moving to Iceland. Morgan will accept the position of president of the United States. She has had some trouble with campaigning, so if you could all spread the word to have people write her in - her official name is Lizard's Gem CD. She promises a national naptime and her ideas on relations with other countries involves using her magical charm and fairy dust.

She also will do everything in her power to guarantee vet care to all who need it, and a serious reduction in the price of hotdogs and cheese. She will oversee a plan to bring the farming industry into more prominence (especially sheep and cows). She is a firm believer in the most ecofriendly of transportation - walking and horseback riding.

Good post, Amber. :)
I also think it's laughable to imagine Tanya as "obedient" or a doormat. :D

I should get a video camera and try dragging my wife around by a leash. It would be great entertainment for anyone watching, and probably the end of life as I know it.

LOL leashes are only good if you are into that sort of thing LOL... otherwise yeah it is likely one would have to send out a search party for the "leash holder" hahahaha

LOL thanks... I told my dad about me being called "obedient" LOL he laughed and said.... obviously THEY weren't the ones trying to raise you HAHAHAHAHA. Apparently I didn't listen as a child :yikes: I think he's lying lol I was a wonderful child ;)

Thank you Amber. I am glad someone sees it the way I do. It kind of saddens me that the concept of marrying someone with the same beliefs and moral background as you have is obsolete. I know not everyone marries someone of the same "wing" lol or the same faith or what have you... but that doesn't work for me. I have been in relationships with my "moral opposite" and WHAT a disaster. It was nothing but fighting, anger, and spite. After that I knew that I woudln't be able to spend my life with someone who didn't have some of the same beliefs that I do. Some people can make it work... I am too stubborn lol. Brian and I disagree on a lot of things but what is nice is that while we end up at different destinations on some things... we always seem to start out from a similar base and that seems to stop tempers from flaring which works for us.

PWC... I will vote for afternoon nap times for SURE :D

I have to say that I feel the same way in my own relationships. Now... don't get me wrong... there has to be some differences... you can't find a perfect absolute mirror image of you in another person. In my opinion such a person might be boring because there would be no real mystery about the other persons varying interests if that makes some sort of sense. Still... if I am going to marry someone I want to at least share the same beliefs and values as that person. I feel that's important for me.

I've been in quite a few relationships where we were total opposites. It never worked for me. Brendan and I have a lot in common, yet still have a lot of our own interests. We share the same belief system for the most part. We are both interested in the whole renaissance thing and swords etc etc... but he's more of a video game kinda guy and I'm more of an animal loving kind of girl. He has his thing, I have mine and it's all gravy baby... lol. I try and spend a little time trying to enjoy some of his interests with him from time to time just as he does with me... we definitely do have our disagreements... but it's like you said... it starts off from a similar base.

lol - as much as I make fun of it I do have a wonderful man who'm I've been with a while (considering my age :p)

We're very similiar in alot of ways - views, faith, love, life - but we compliment each other temperment wise....I'm bombastic wheras he's more grounded...he's wound tight wheras I'm more relaxed. We kind of force each other into a happy medium...which really makes us both happier in general.

I think those kind of relationships where you can make one out of two halves are the most beautiful.

I just like how this thread went from the dire predictions of our country to nitpicking someone's marriage...like that has ANY bearing at all about national politics...

Since Obama stole his campaign slogan of "Can we do it?" and "YES WE CAN.....YES WE CAN....!" from Bob the Builder, I wonder if he'll now be stealing a new one from our friend Dora the Explorer. I can hear it now...... "We did it! We did it! We did!" (I just hope he leaves the "backpack" song alone)

And although I'm late here, in my opinion, this country is going to hell in a handbasket (so to speak). If Obama wins.......it will literally be hell.
