I have always said that if I had to eat only ramen to feed my dog good food and afford nice things for her I would absolutely 100% do it. I eat (and prefer--college student lol) junk anyway and my dog definitely has a better diet than I do.

I wouldn't feed it if you paid me. IF I won a lifetime supply for free I'd probably want the option to donate it to rescue. After all - food IS food even if its not something I'd put through my dogs systems, for my sake and theirs. I can do happily without the itchiness, smelly breathe and rotten poos.

No way jose! I remember being a little kid and knowing Ol' Roy was garbage... I don't see how millions of people feed that to their dogs and sleep at night. And, no, it's not a matter of money. Feeding a medium/high quality food is actually cheaper if you compare pounds to calories. If I was in the position where I had only enough money to buy a bag of Ol' Roy, I'd buy some cheap raw meaty bones instead. You can find stuff for $0.10/pound!

My friend was talking about how GREAT she felt for getting a bag of Ol' Roy for a homeless person who has a dog, and is always roaming around where she works. The homeless man was ecstatic. I wasn't that impressed, I donate quality food directly to the animal shelter, and she feeds TOTW and knows better. :( It made me feel so bad for that dog... he's lucky if he gets Ol' Roy. So sad.

We get Nutro for free (we own two FEMA certified SAR dogs) and I still don't feed it. And that is decent food. It's just too high in grains, and I have two dogs with high protein/low carb nutritional requirements. If I was broke I'd go back to Nutro, but I wouldn't go to Ol Roy.. that stuff is about as healthy as eating pencil shavings.

Every time I see someone wheeling a cart through the store with a bag of Ol' Roy I cringe . . . especially when I see the part of the bag where it says "Total Nutrition." Oxymoron of the century.
