Hi everyone,
I'm Ben from Ella's Lead, chewbecca's (Rebecca's) husband and Ella's daddy. I assume you are already well acquainted with both of those characters.
I grew up with two wonderful dobes. Ella is my first pit bull and I think pit bulls will be our only dogs from now on. I do love all dogs, though. Pit bulls are simply the best. I've never had or met a dog more loyal and loving. Ella is dog aggressive, but absolutely LOVES humans. She'll bark at people that come to the door, but I think it is more of "Get in here and play" than an aggressive bark. She is also extremely sensitive to our moods. If we argue, she literally shakes with anxiety. We both have to give her a hug after a tiff to make things right.
Rebecca has probably told you a great deal about Ella already. I do have to say she is the absolute best napping buddy a guy could ask for. I have the advantage of coming home for an hour lunch during work. Many times, especially during winter, I'll take a 30 minute nap on the bed. Ella will climb up and lay down along my leg and huddle close. Of course, her head is near my feet. I think in her pit bull mind we are protecting each other's butt. On weekends, I sleep in and Rebecca gets up at the crack of dawn. She lets Ella out of her crate and leads her to the bedroom. Ella will stretch and grind her eye-boogies in the floor and then hop up in bed. After circling several times to knock the "grass" down, she'll bury her head and nose in my chest and go to sleep. The rabbit chase will quickly follow, though, and I'll have to prod her.
One thing I have noticed about pit bulls is their incredible strength. If I grab Ella's ball-of-the-day, she'll quickly pounce on my hand with at least 300 lbs of force. I'm still trying to figure out how that is possible. It does make for cute bully stomps though. :lol-sign:
At any rate, I'll be hanging around some. I can answer questions on the leads we make. I make all of them nowadays. Rebecca doesn't have the strength to close the new rope clamps, so I get stuck with it.
Besides the leash business, I work as a chemist for the local wastewater plant.
I can't wait for all those free iPods/iPhones to arrive in my mail.
