I am so happy I instilled in Abrams crate = calm time when he was a puppy. Is making this neuter recovery soooo much easier. He's even just laying down snoozing with no one in the room with him and Michael, a friend m and Cynder all hanging out outside talking on the porch (to where he'd normally be whining at the door and pacing wanting to go out with them).

We took 3rd place today... out of 3 male puppies. ;) But we had a blast! It was a great learning experience, Stitch was SO excited to see his breeder, his sister, his mother, and his grandma, and he behaved himself beautifully outside the ring. Inside he really wasn't bad either, just very distracted, which isn't surprising for his first show. Overall, I'm super proud of my puppy. We had a great time.

Glitch just hit puberty with the force of your average speeding train. Just last week he was my tiny baby, and now he's a hump machine. I sense a lot of time out in our future. Oh, and I caught him licking pee off a wall and chattering like a madman. It's not so much the chattering (which is actually kind of funny), but the look of utter perversion on his face while he does it.

Strap in guys, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

The liver and white Brittanies are such beautiful dogs, gosh. 8___8 Cries.

New breed on my breed wants list now... It's funny, because Brittanies are actually the breed I seriously considered back in 2009 before I ended up deciding on a MAS (Rara).

It must be puberty weekend for the fluffy sighthounds. Stitch discovered girls at the show. A friend has a bitch who just came out of heat and Stitch was drooling and chattering like nobody's business. He had that same look on his face. So gross.

My mom came out and told me I could get my own dog if I wanted. She knows I'd like to get involved in dog sports (I'd like to do rally-o) and can't do that with Tucker. I had always assumed I wouldn't be allowed to have a dog while I was still living with my parents. Knowing I couldn't have a dog was sad and all but now I'm dying because I can get a dog but I absolutely shouldn't get a dog. Not while we can't afford dentals and heart ultrasounds for the current menagerie. Booooo. On the bright side this realization has made me more determined to work with Tucker since I know it's gonna be just him for a long while.

I am spectating at a couple IPO trials coming in the next few weeks that both just happen to be within an hour's drive from me. <___<

Is photography with/against trial etiquette? Do people take photos of dogs they don't know? IS THIS A THING? I feel like a complete creep.

For what it is worth (not much, I know), good for you. There are so many people who would just jump on the "this is what I want now" option. I have a lot of respect for people who fulfill their obligations to their current pets before fulfilling their own desires. Because it is **** hard sometimes.

I very much agree with the above posters Maxy24.

Sometimes I think I just kind of need to give up any ideas I have of competing at breed-specific venues and stick to competitions held by activity-focused organizations. Breed politics seem to get so petty and silly so quickly and the actual welfare of the dogs is set aside too often to accommodate the human ego. Maybe it's like that with sport/activity-based organizations too and I just am not in deep enough to see it. Sure is depressing though.

Day 6 with the relatives and Brisbane has decided that my 12-year-old godson's bed is the best place to sleep at night. Brisbane likes to retire around 9pm, right when the kid goes to bed. Briz hates anything moving under the covers and will bolt off the bed at the first sign of movement, the kid doesn't sleep with covers. Briz doesn't normally like to sleep touching people but is cool with sharing a queen size bed with a smallish person. I've spent ten years trying to get my dog to sleep on the bed with me and I can't drag him off this kid's bed in the evening.

When Venice was diagnosed with cruciate disease I saved up $4000 for a possible TPLO and put it away in a TFSA in case she blows her knee in the future.

One encounter with a porcupine has bled almost all of it over the course of a month. :( And I don't know if she's done yet.
