Is there a chance that you do believe (a wittle bit??), you just don't realize it?? I'm confused because I've just read your thread asking us to pray for your friend, so I thought you do believe, at the very least, in the power of prayers.

Well, God is the one who hears them and grants them according to HIS will! :)
There's a chance, that I don't realize it. But I've had a troubled life lately, and haven't had hope in God, or cared at all. I used to be a Christian, now when I am drug to Church, I say I'm going to one of the other 5 classes, smoke, and just walk down to Subway and snack away.

I don't know why, but I've noticed that hearing bad languages in English does not bother me as much as hearing the same words in Vietnamese! Maybe because I don't understand the depth of its meaning, and/or the way it's suppose to hurt..
I've found it's the same way for me, as well as a few other people I know that speak multiple languages. The only time "bad words" hit me instantly is in my first language, English.

I don't swear, at all, and I'll admit that the use of profanity in casual conversation bugs me more than listening to someone use it to blow off steam.

I swear a fair bit at home, a lot when out with friends but for some reason I find it very easy not to at work, it just switches off for some reason.
I also kinda go through fazes, theres a friend I work with that swears his head off, when we were working together a lot we seemed to converse using 70% swear words but now we don't hang out very much and I don't swear as much now.

I use to cuss like a sailor, but since I've gotten married I've avoided it. I don't know why but neither my husband or I curse now. We see no reason to, things can be settled in a non-cursing manner. I do occasionally mutter some foul words if I stub my toe or something but nothing major :)

I swear constantly. The F-word is basically in almost every sentence I utter.

I don't swear at work at all, unless the person I'm conversing with is someone I know has no issue with my language.

I don't swear in front of people I don't know, I only do it around my friends. I don't use it very often around family, my father still gasps when I swear.

If someone around me swears, I don't really notice, unless it's someone who rarely does it.

I swear constantly, though I won't do it around my parents or children. I don't know why some words are considered 'bad', they're just a stronger word than their alternatives. It's like 'hit' and 'smacked'. They both mean the same thing but 'smacked' implies a harder connotation. Just like dang and ****. Everyone knows you mean '****' when you say 'dang', so why not just say '****'?

The only power they have is what we give them.

The only words I use with any sort of regularity are asshole and asshat, and that's not even all that much. I hear it all the time, though. I'm usually around a bunch of Army guys. Every other word out of their mouths is some variation of f***. If Brian goes too far and says something to me that I don't particularly appreciate, I let him know and he apologizes.

As the daughter of a Navy officer and being raised by only him for the first 2-3 years of my life, I have quite the potty mouth at times. I do try to keep it down or not use that kind of language in general conversation. But when I'm angry or very stressed all bets are off. I do try very hard not to cuss at people (now the dog is another story hehe).

I'm 5/8 Scots; so there are no swear words; but I will not utter the slimy c-word. Otherwise; no harm no foul; with all the things one can get strung out about in this world; bad words are least of the problems.

My son knows the bad words and only says them in certain company (His Uncle Thor specifically); he has never said them anywhere inappropriate.

My daughter says Oh God a lot; which is my fault; cause I say it; but I am not religious at all; so I see no problem with it personally; but it is a bit much; funny as **** though in the store; she was picking up the bread for me; a nice older Italian lady was standing waiting for Avi to pick it up; Av dropped it; says Oh God in that Jewish Grandmother fashion; bends over and picks it up. Saw the lady smile to herself. We've convinced Avi that some people may not like the use of the words; so could she try something different; I'm not sure what she uses now; but I haven't heard Oh God in ages; so must not be it. My husband swears he never swears; but I'm gonna tape him next time we are out partying together; he does then.

If the 16 year olds I teach get a bit mouthy and it starts to sound mean (I never permit it to be used in an aggressive sense); they have to use other words. Douche-canoe comes to mind; douche-baggery is funny. Usually I can get them bumped out of cussin' just by making them come up with something creative.

I can swear like a drunken sailor when the occasion warrents, but I'm just as good at coming up with other forms. Shakespearean insults are fantastic in the middle of a bar fight, because everyone just stops and goes "Huh???"

I swear a loooot around friends, but I'm able to keep it in if needed. I don't dare utter a bad word in front of my mom... my brother will be 20 years old in a couple months and even he knows better than to do that. :)

It's usually when I'm really, really frustrated that things fly. My old job had a tendency to upset me a lot and I'd have to keep it all in while I was working, but as soon as I left that building, there would be no holding back.

So no, I'm definitely not bothered if other people swear lol. I think it's weird when I hear younger kids swearing though. Especially if they're around their parents--there are 10 year olds that are allowed to say more than I am!

I don't see what the big problem is with swearing. I swear. Of course I won't swear if I just meet someone, cause its rude if they don't like swearing. But with my family, its like every other word lol

I am trying to stop using it in casual conversation. It does not sound nice. Especially for a woman. But at home, with my family or friends, in private, I am a little more lax about it.

I swear. A lot. All of the time. Granted, not usually around clients, but other than that all the time. And you would think it was from my stint working in the music industry, but, alas, my language has gotten much worse since I've gotten into dogs. LOL!

Lets put it this way. When I was in middle school people refered to my family as the hillbilly Osbornes ;).

Swearing is just a way of life. Always has been lol. My family also has never been one to "watch our language" around the little kids. Atleast I know I don't LOL. Of course around the kids I try and cut out the F bombs hehe.

I swear constantly but I know when to clean it up. I do find it funny the people on facebook who delete friends who cuss in their status updates. I mean come on!

And I feel like most forums should allow you to say whatever you want really. And I am a part of a few forums where cussing is not taboo.

What like "fie you EGG!" ? :D or "If the cook help to make the gluttony, you help to make the diseases." ?

I'm really surprised at the number of people who swear.

I find it distasteful, though I've done it myself in high emotional times and am trying to get away from it as it's gotten worse as I've gotten older. I would never swear at someone, nor use it when angry at someone and certainly don't want to be around people who do it all the time.
