Yes. And I did state my opinions. Do you understand why I put "attack" in quotations? It was for lack of a better word. But thanks for constantly questioning my intelligence.
I dont think anyone attacked you or questioned your intelligence. it seems like you are getting a little heated and nead a break.

Rape violates ones rights in a way much deeper than merderring someone, why rapists get such light sentances for such a dispicable crime is beyond me. What the victims of rape endure, sometimes decapes following the attack can be horrendous in the worst cases.

The rape and/or molestation of a child, this is an unforgivable crime. It alters the life of the victim in ways I cannot fathom.

Why arent these crimes subject to the death penalty? They affect anothers basic Rights in away that can make living unbearable at times.

What boggles my mind is my own brother is very pro-choice and incredably apposed to the death penalty. How can you be for the killing of an innocent, even if you justify it as a clump of inconvenient cells, yet be against the forfieture of Rights from someone with no regaurd for lives of others?

i TOTALLY agree about what horrible crimes they are...

as for your brother...why is he against it? I too am on the fence about the death penalty..not cause i dont believe some people deserve to die, i DEFINATELY do...but because of the system. The length of time btwn being proven guilty & death, the killing of innocent people, and the tremendous costs..pssh, i think they should give that person a gun and give them 5 minutes to shoot themselves...that would cut costs :p another reason why im on the fence is b/c of how poor our prison system is...all it does is creates hardened criminals, ones who are even MORE likely to commit crimes once they get out of jail...the US has like the HIGHEST % of kids in jail...that problem needs to be tackled...BIG TIME....and the death penalty is NOT THE WAY TO DO IT!!! (some people argue that the death penalty will help...it wont..it hasnt...its getting worse...lol) America needs to look to other countries and see why they have such a low % of kids in jail...not just be like, "hey, lets kill some people and hopefully it will scare kids into NOT commiting crimes!"

Blue, sometimes it's better not to ask why because the person may not know. However, I think you pose a very sensible question.

We've already been throught the abortion debate in a previous thread so I'll leave it at that. ;)

For the record - as far as the death penalty goes, I'm all for it - so long as the sentence is carried out in a timely manner. 24 years on death row (as an example) is not 'a timely manner'. There should be a standard requirement for minimum evidence, one or two appeals and at the end of the year (or less), that's al folks! If the evidence is not 'air-tight' (ie, matching DNA samples), the death penalty shouldn't be offered up but rather life in prison.

respect your opinion, and respect the fact that you could put your life on hold for some kid you will never see again...i COULD NOT. I wanna graduate from college in 4 years, go to PT school, then become a certified animal PT...thats already draining 10 years outta my life...delaying my chance to have a baby of my own, with my future husband, and being able to raise that child in a loving home.
you consider a baby just "some kid"? That is YOUR baby, you created life, that baby is apart of you. now i understand why you support abortion, its because you do not understand how special or important a human life is (in my opinion). Adopted childeren do have loving homes. You can still go to school while you are pregnant. There are different kinds of adoption and i could see my kid if i wanted to.

As opposed to twisting words and making personal accusations, why not just stick with the part from "Adopted children....". Makes the whole debate thing more of a debate and less of a personal damnation kind of thread.

and that is exactly why i put (in my opinion) in parenthesis! I never said it was a fact, i said it was my opinion.

Opinion or not, that's personal.

Look at it another way: If my opinion of someone is that they're an @sshole, is my opinion less offensive because I say so in brackets? - No, it's not.

lol, i dont?

NOT all adopted children have loving homes...once again OPEN YOUR MIND....why are there so many kids in orphanages???

yeah, cause it would be so easy to go to school while i am pregnant...

actually, see, the thing is...if i were to have a kid...i dont think i could adopt it out...while i am young, and totally not ready for a kid, i dont think i could give up a child I carried around for 9 months....i would be to worried that the adoptive parents werent providing adequate care, were raising it poorly, etc etc....i dont understand how someone can adopt out a baby unless they TRULY have no other choice, or know that the baby would be better off...

So as to umm your wonderful opinon on me...it is actually the exact opposite. The difference is that I do not believe that life starts at conception...

i think you said in another post that the brain starts functioning early on...well DUH...rottie...if the brain did not start functioning, then the baby would not live - the heart would not start beating, the body would not function. Working brain does not mean it is a human life yet...a baby that young cannot feel emotions, it has no clue what is going on, it IS a mass of cells....heh just like terry schaivo...by many doctor's definitions she WAS dead (before they finished her off)...her brain worked, but it was only providing the necessary vital functions that a body needs (IIRC...and lets not debate on that one, lol)

And ok, if you believe morning after pills are ok...then good, lol...why the heck doesnt everyone who gets raped take them!????

and btw...thanks for answering my question i addressed to you specifically at the end of my post

not all childeren who are with their biological parents are in loving homes either. Whether or not a child will be adopted or born into bad home is a risk that every baby goes through, and it is not an excuse to kill your child intead of putting him up for adoption. There are childeren who have been adopted who are in very loving homes and who are LIVING instead of dead. the kids who are in orphanages are older kids, not babies. older kids have a hard time finding homes newborns do not. Do you know how many couples are looking and waiting to adopt? There are tons of people looking to adopt childeren who even have special needs. And when couples adopt a lot of them are looking for more than one child.

Life starts when the brain is functioning and the heart is beating, you dont think so? Most abortions take place when the baby can move, its heart and brain is working (around the 40th day). Couples who want to adopt go through back ground checks and the mother gets to choose the family. I would want my baby to have a chance to live, but thats just my opinion. You dont think a baby would be better off going to a family to live their life is better than just killing them and giving them no chance at all?

You are saying that a baby is not living when it can move, its brain is functioning and its heart is beating (schaivo did not move)? Then what do you think life is? How do you know that the baby has no emotions, where is your proof? Do you really think that the baby would feel nothing when it has its legs and arms riped off and its scull crushed, or being burned? A great little article... http://watkins.gospelcom.net/article.htm

Death Penalty

Unfortunately, this is an issue I know too much about. I used to be for the death penalty... kill somebody u should die too... especially in some of the sick, sadistic ways people kill others... then about a year or two ago i changed my mind... right now i am majoring in criminal justice, and there are so many things that are not right... first of all... even with DNA, there are still cases where people are wrongly convicted of 1st degree murder and sentenced to die... last year a man came to my college who was on death row for 14 years until his innocence was proven... how frightening to think that you are going to be put to death for something you never even did.. at least with life in prison you'd still have hope... my professor told of us another case where a man was put to death for killing his boss' wife, and a few years later the boss admitted to killing her... one of the jurors in that case ended up hanging himself... the governor of Illinois even stopped the use of the death penalty in his state because they found more innocent people than they were executing... this is also an issue very close to me... my friends got stupid and decided to go jump some guy whom i don't know... they beat him with a baseball bat and he died 3 days later from his injuries... one of my friends pled guilty to 2nd degree murder, and my other friend has a trial in july and they are seeking the death penalty... my friend's girlfriend wasn't even there when the beating occured, but she got sentenced 2 days ago to 15 years in prison for conspiracy to commit 1st degree assault... she got in trouble for not telling the police that she knew the beating was going to happen... anywayz, i'm scared my friend is going to die... i've known him for 7 years, and NEVER have known him to be violent... i moved away about 2 years ago, and i heard he got into meth really bad... i know it changes people but i KNOW he did not intend to kill anyone... the girlfriend of the guy who died saw the whole thing happen... if he was going to MURDER him... why didn't he get him when he was alone? and the guy didn't die right then... but unfortunately in 1st degree murder cases the time between the act and death can't be used as defense (at least in missouri)... the whole thing sucks, and i'm sorry that someone died... but is it really going to make everything better to kill my 20 year old friend? granted, the average time on death row is 11 years, but still... i just turned 20 yesterday... and it kinda makes me think... anywayz, i'm glad to be able to interject my opinion on the matter... sorry it's so long, but this is something i do feel strongly about...

I believe I stated my opinion full force... but then again, I have never been raped or had any rape/incest involved. To the women who have, that's terrible, and since I can't put myself in that type of mentality, I can't and shouldn't speak for everyone. As it goes now, it's legal. Yes, I understand the ramifications if it becomes illegal. Putting aside the the actual violent rape or incest.... there ARE a lot of woman (I am not excusing men, but women are the ones that have to go through getting pregnant) who just sleep around, get drunk/high or even sober and get pregnant. I believe it's up to the woman to take every precaution (not just trying to get a boyfriend/hubby or "get off") NOT to become pregnant. If you can't handle your alcohol, drugs, addictions, sexual or otherwise...then it's on you. Just watch t.v. (Maury) where there was a woman who had 3 kids, went through like 13 DNA tests for all the kids....and still does not know who the fatherS are. And we are paying taxes for her being a ho. That is just disgusting behavior. I would love to adopt a child in the future, seeing that I don't want to physically have another baby and think (just like animal rescue) a child needs a loving home. As for genetics and rapists...I really don't know. There are sperm clinics for women. Who ACTUALLY knows the genetics behind the "sperm donor"? They could be an ex-con, rapist, murderer, child molester (that just hasn't been caught/convicted.)

It's a debate that can go on and on...... but no matter what, fetus, embryo, baby.....common, they are human beings. I am not here to judge, I just stated my own personal opionion. I know what I have to live with, and that's why I am against it. I have a lot of friends who have had abortions and it saddens me, even though they are good people. Depending on your own beliefs, you may or may not have to answer for that in the end.

Bottom line, you are responsible for your own actions (unless you are a victim of pure violence).

If the person is a murderer and deserves the death penalty, I am for it. But I think it's kind of stupid that they just die a peaceful death. Most of these people are evil, they don't deserve a peaceful death. If they stabbed someone to death, then I don't see why the heck all they get is an injection or something to die. A lot of these people probably WANT to die, because they're life will be over and they won't be in prison.

i just wanted to tell u a little about myself, the short version... my mom is going to prison in january, she has many mental problems (bi-polar, OCD, and a low IQ)... she has made my life very difficult and i moved out at the age of 17 because i just couldn't handle it anymore... my dad was been convicted of 3 felonies, one of them being manslaughter... my first memory EVER is of him beating my mom during a fight... my brother is a child molester and currently in prison...

and then u got me... i'm going to college full-time, double majoring in Criminal Justice and Spanish... have held a job since the age of 16 (i just turned 20 yesterday)... right now my job is working with those with disabilities, which sometimes takes much patience... i have a clean criminal record (except a speeding ticket) and i'm planning on going to law school... just wanting to let everyone know don't judge a child by his/her parents... i lived in a very small town and everyone persecuted me for my parents/brother's actions... thankfully i didn't let it get to me (too much).... that kid living in the HUD house with pseudo-parents can become something one day...

Angela! GREAT FOR YOU! I hope you didn't mis-read my statement, I AGREE with you. I am however, sorry you had/have to deal with what was dealt to you. You are an inspiration to many, good luck and I hope you get everything in life that you want. Sounds as if you have worked to succeed in life.

What I meant (sorry if I mis-worded it), I was trying to say, that people who abort children from rapists etc.... the women who go to clinics to get a sperm donor, don't really "know" where it's coming from. Yes, the man can fill out an application, give his donation, but he COULD be any of the above, and the child can still be a productive part of society.

That's what I meant, and I hope it's clarified.

Keep on going....good luck!

My view is probably weird, but I think that they should be able to choose between life in prison and death. It's not about revenge, it's about removing them from society. As long as they are removed, I am satisfied.

grr i started writing stuff, and i accidently exed it out...so ill make it shorter, lol

schaivo did move, but she was dead...she was NEVER gonna recover...you CANNOT if the oxygen supply is cut off from your brain for as long as hers was. The body moves...its nerves...a chicken can run around without its head...you think that is still alive?!

ANYWAYS...before you try and make me sound like some sociopath who is not affected by baby legs being torn off....let me clear something up.

I do not think abortion should be used as a birth control for women who just cant keep their legs closed.

I am talking about girls who have been RAPED. Now, i am assuming, if a girl gets raped...within a few days of the incident, she has GOT to be wondering if she got pregnant...i am talking about abortions done within days (i dont know how soon they can be dont...but as soon as possible)...im also talking about taking the morning after pill to try and prevent the pregnancy in the first place. within days...there are no arms to be torn off...its just a lump, you cannot tell what it is...

oh yaeh, in my other post i accidently deleted, i was just saying that all your statements on adoptions are just 'duh' statements. you really felt the need to share those little tidbits of knowledge?? You are totally missing my point. And now, for the third time....

COULD YOU PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTION I ASKED!??

to refresh your memory, it was: Let me ask you this...so you personally do not agree with it, ok, so you would never get one - you dont think anyone should. If you could, would you prevent another girl from having an abortion?
