Steven and I have talked it over, and I'm extremely humbled by everyone who's reaching out to help.
I told him today a lot of people are offering food and such to let us keep him in our home, and he said if it will buy us six months or so that we should be in a better place financially, and not so stressed about providing for everyone. He also said since everyone has offered so graciously, that we should be equally gracious about accepting help, and then he told me to stop being so d*mn proud
But really, thank you guys. Food and meds are really the biggest issue, and while I really think time committed to him is going to be lacking, I think he'll end up being fine. He'll have the other dogs to play with, and if making it through the next six months means he's just playing and hanging out with the dogs he's grown up with, I don't think that's going to hurt him. He might end up needing more busy work toys, or chew bones or something, but I don't think it would be the same as trying to ignore a Mal or a Dutchie who needs attention and exercise.
Vet bills aren't an issue, he's a healthy dog, and we use vaccine clinics to keep those costs down. No one currently needs to see the vet either, so that's a relief.
