OMG, I read this lady's wikipedia article.... If I HAD been planning on voting for McCain, I'd be changing my mind now!

She's been governor of the smallest state (population-wise) in the country, for LESS THAN two years.

While mayor, she raised city sales taxes to fund an ice rink (IN ALASKA).

She objected to adding polar bears on the endangered species list, because she was afraid it would hurt oil and gas development in the bears' habitat.

She does not believe in global warming.

A month ago she admitted she does not know what a vice president does.

Then of course, there are the political policies that I disagree with, but I won't even go INTO that here.

And grammy, it's "Obama", not "O'bama", I thought after 18 months of campaigning everybody'd know that by now. And what do you mean, you don't see him living very long if he's elected???

LMFAO Grammy :rofl1:

Honestly... if someone wanted to do enough digging on me I'm sure they could find SOMETHING. Like when I was accused of skipping cab fare (when I was already at work lmao) and then I missed my court date to handle the whole thing because I was extremely ill which required "surgery" yada yada yada.... Put enough spin on that... I am accused of holding the cab driver at gun point and refused to pay my fair to go buy drugs. I missed my court date because I had to be hospitalized possibly due to drug O.D and label it "under investigation" LMFAO

She raised taxes to build an arena... and yet she gave every citizen of Alaska a $1200 rebate... so every single person in Alaska got a $1200 check because of fuel costs. but um... errr... people won't vote for her because she raised taxes but they will vote for Obama? *chuckles* kind of the pot and kettle isn't it?

I'm ALLLLLLLLL for drilling Alaska... which she supports.

I don't know. People complain because we have all these life long politicians who are so corrupt and out of touch with what real people need. yet when someone who shows some qualities of a regular person and hasn't yet be corrupted by DC she's not experienced enough. It can't be both :)

Good grief...I don't see the Obama camp making too much out of her lack of experience....at least she has some executive experience; Obama has been on the campaign trail most of the time in office, and it's not like his appeal is his foreign affairs resume.

I like the choice....should make for an interesting campaign. I think both VP selections were smart.

My best friend just moved to GA from Anchorage, where she's lived since 1999. She and her husband, a member of our Army, LOVE her. As do the other people in AK that I've talked to.

As for digging up stuff, people need to go look in the mirror and then go digging in their own closests. NO ONE is free of "scandal."

It's amazing that Obama & his supporters can spew racism and hatred, but heaven forbid one lady is under investigation for the firing of someone.

She did smoke pot, but it was legal in Alaska when she did it, so that's neither here nor there.

I think she sounds like a very interesting person. It's a shame I disagree with her on so many issues.

I think it's sad that people would choose not to vote for a candidate they like, because they think he might be assassinated for being black!

Obama has been on the campaign trail most of the time in office, and it's not like his appeal is his foreign affairs resume.
Obama began his term in Jan 2005. So he's been in the US senate almost two years longer (twice as long) than Palin's been a state governor. He's been campaigning since Feb 07, so no, he has not spent most of his time in office on the campaign trail.

Of course no one is free of scandal. Anyone can dig up/make up anything about anybody. But the investigation thing is going on *now*, it's not like it's a thing of the past and she's moved on from it. IMO she hasn't even come up with a good "excuse" for it. Sure maybe she fired the guy for an excellent reason, but it sure sounds fishy to me.

As for taxes, Obama said that anyone who makes more than $250k will have higher taxes, and anyone that makes $150k or below will get a TAX BREAK (don't know what happens to the $150-$250 bracket). I was afraid of Obama initially because I make $70k or so on my own and I was afraid I would get raped in taxes if he got presidency, but right now I'm paying $18k/year in taxes (I'm single, no kids, etc.) Any kind of break would be nice. McCain is just going to be another 4 years of maybe a little bit smarter version than Bush. (Although I heard that Bush's "stupidity" is a facade and he's really an evil, evil man.) Vice presidents don't do squat anyway, IMO. Well, except that Cheney probably did influence Bush quite a bit.

*shrugs* I'm still undecided whether I'm going to vote or not. I considered McCain when I was under the impression that he supported a flat tax, but there's too much of his other stuff that I disagree with. NONE of the candidates have given me a good forecast for the health care disaster. As for Obama? I'm with Grammy. He very well might not survive presidency, sad to say. I just don't know.
