Hey guys-

It just occurred to me that I don't think I EVER posted photos of Kimi's litter. I have a few baby photos saved on my computer, so I thought I'd share them with everyone at Chaz.

Here's everyone: The one lying down in the front left-hand corner is "Cubby" (just what we called him until he went to his owners), the little girl in the back is "Sayuri," and the big monster on the right is "Chubba-Wubba" (now known as Jessee- our pride and joy).

Lunchtime!

Shiba puppies are such sweet little creatures... "Cubby," Jessee, and "Sayuri."

More photos to come!

I couldn't help myself...Tai was the cutest puppy ever, and I NEVER post photos of him. This is from the day we brought him home:

This is Jessee now, handled owned and loved by the wonderful Pam Peterson- he really turned out fantastic!

I have no idea what Shiba puppies are supposed to look like, but I'm sure yours are up to snuff ;)

IMO, they look an awful lot like super soft cuddly baby bears! :D LOL

Adorable!

AWW, they are absolutely adorable. Shibas really lighten up a lot as they mature, don't they?

Jessee is STUNNING.

Yep- the puppies start out VERY dark, which is why breeding for a perfect sesame is nearly freaking impossible. You THINK you've got one and then POOF, the pup is red! We thought Sayuri had a shot at it, but she lightened up like the rest of them. You can see how dark Tai was as an 8 week old- his dam was a sesame bitch, so we thought for SURE he was going to be one. He grew up, lost the dark mask, and is now a full-blown red. Go figure!

THIS is a proper sesame Shiba. He's a NIPPO national winner, so you can bet none of us in the US will get a hand on a dog like this anytime soon. In my opinion we don't have a correct sesame dog in this country. Most of the dogs you see shown as sesame are just mis-marked reds. It's something we really have to work on.

We're really proud of how Jessee turned out- I got to see him on our national specialty video, and couldn't believe how wonderful he looked. You can see both Taro and Kimi in there!

I like the armful of Shiba puppies!
Look like they are nothing but trouble at that stage!
BTW - why the preference for sesame (I like it) is it a pigment concern?

Now, what makes a sesame a sesame? Is it a dog with black guard hairs? That boy you posted is really striking. I've only ever seen reds.

Who is Jessee's sire? I don't know if I've ever seen him. I do adore Kimi, though.
