Ah ****... First Wellness allegedly having production taken over by Diamond and now this...

We're gonna run out of safe foods to carry at our store...

I'm so angry. No way will I support P&G. This bag of EVO is our last.

Oh well, just more incentive to make raw work. We're well on our way.

I'll do some searching to make sure it's solid truth, i would've thought that the franchise owner would've known about this being in the works... Then again he has "baby brain" lately...

This really sucks... If the franchise owner doesn't let us carry Taste of the Wild because it's produced by diamond i'm demanding he pull wellness an natura now too... Otherwise we'd be a hypocrite.

Interesting. I actually know that P&G was interested in pulling Eukanuba and IAMS from stores like Wal-Mart and everything and wanted to try and make it a quality food again... but they faced a brick wall in terms of 1) feed & pet stores had no interest in carrying it again and b) people who shop at those stores have no interest in buying it since we know it's crappy food. So somehow they'd have to pull it from all of the retail stores, reformulate, and then run a massive campaign to try and convince people that it really is a good food again... and somehow convince people who are already happy with the brands they are on to try it... basically, very difficult task at hand.

So I wonder if they instead decided to simply get ahold of something that already is a good food, already is sold in feed & specialty pet stores, and has good perception among the people shopping at those stores?

This does not bode well though, that's for sure. They COULD be actually interested in maintaining a premium food, but... who knows. I have a TON of Cali Natural left since I bought a huge bag last time, but I'm not very excited about it at all. I probably won't see Auggie's breeder's husband for a few weeks - maybe not til Memorial Day weekend - but I'll chat with him about this next time I see him...

This is BS if it's true. They screwed up IAMS and Euk when they took over, two foods that already kind of sucked, so who knows what they're going to do to something decent? :(

Glad I'm on raw!

Beanie, that's probably it. I'm more concerned about P&G's questionable ethics than anything else, although I'm sure there's a good chance the formula will be made to be more 'cost effective'.

And I really liked Evo. Bah.

Oh, no way!

I love EVO and so do my dogs.

I guess I'll go back to TOTW.

I saw it earlier on FB where Mordy posted it  The Dog Food Project - How does your Dog Food Brand compare?
Procter & Gamble acquires Natura Pet Products
Admin | May 5, 2010 1:46 pm
I'm very sad to report that Natura Pet Products (manufacturing the Innova, Evo, Healthwise and Karma lines of pet food) sold out to Procter & Gamble, which is also the parent company of Iams and Eukanuba.

PG.com News Release

"It's time for the right company to take our brands to the next level of growth. P&G is that company," said John Rademakers, founder and owner of Natura Pet Products. "We know that P&G will honor our history as they capitalize on their strengths to build these brands."

It may be the right thing to do for the company and its profits, but I doubt very much that this is the case for the pets who are consuming these products on a daily basis. Personally I disagree with so much of P & G's business practices and ethics that I do not buy any of their brands.

Must be true... How disapointing!! SO glad Maddie (and the ferrets) are on raw. And to think, Amanda talked to me about switching to raw last night!

Sh1t. Now I've got to find another dog food.

Sent them an e-mail and I will probably be calling their customer service number tomorrow.

By the way, it's (800) 532-7261

Let 'em know how you feel about this.

Maybe they will get enough response from enough angry customers to do anything about it. Probably not.

Well the franchise owner of the company i work for has released his statement tonight. Looks like we're doing a "wait and see" kind of thing. He seems to think they might still hold up some standards. I dunno, i feel kinda bad with a P&G product on the shelves, maybe i'll just push the Canadian brands even more now.

At this point it's not even that P&G might screw up the food, which is almost a guarantee, it's the fact that P&G is a company with an on-going history of animal testing.

I hesitated all day to post on my Pug forums about this... But i figured i might as well as i know a few people there feed Natura Products.

I wonder what idiotic posts i'll get from the people on there that justify feeding things like kibbles and bits and iams and dog chow because it's cheap and their dog "ain't dead yet" and their whole "big business is more trustworthy than small companies you know!" attitudes. *Puts on Rhino Skin over there*

Sad this is true. Mine do so well on California Natural when they weren't doing well on the other brands.

Flood 'em with phone calls.

I just expressed that I am terribly disappointed and that, although it probably won't bother P&G, I and many others here won't be using Natura products in the future as P&G has such a terrible record of putting out crap food, not to mention their ethics are reprehensible.
