I am glad to hear he is going to be ok :)

I know there are 'sensitive stomach' kibbles out there, but if you have an idea of what could have set him off, try eliminating that from his diet and see. This is probably going to be a game of find what works..........I wish I had some good suggestions for you.

Thank heavens he's ok! I mean that had to be in the top ten of the most scarey things to see. I think Mordy might be your best bet.

Thanks TM! It is very scary when you see your dog $h!tting blood and vomit. I hope he can get better and I can find a diet to suit his needs that is GREAT quality. I don't want to feed him crap food. Again, you guys are great supporters and you all make me feel better! My poor little man is sound asleep in his crate. He had a tough day...................and my stomach is a bundle of nerves. My brother was rushed to the ER Thurs. night due to a terrible car accident so between him and Caiza I feel like I am going to vomit!

has caiza had episodes of this before, or chronic diarrhea? or is this vomiting the first sign of stomach issues he has shown?

You could try California Natural? Their puppy formulas are a little higher in protein and fat and can be used as an All Life Stages food. They are very plain and single protein/carb formulations.

I forgot to mention that Canidae makes a nice Chicken and Rice or Lamb and Rice which are nice and simple as well.

I hope it all resolves quickly. I'll be thinking of him!

Yes, Doberkim, He started this when he was a little over a year old. He was treated for Giardia about 4 or 5 months ago and this is his second bought with Gastritis and the bloody vomit and feces except this time it was a little worse than past............

I'd definitely consider doing the ultrasound - it's non-invasive, and while it costs money - it will be quicker than in the long run constantly changing food, meds, etc.

I am, and actually wanted to tonight. It cost $325 for the ultrasound but the ultrasound test is by app. so I couldn't. I already shelled out $480 so $325 was nothing ........CHCHCH charge it! Credit card just for my boy! I am going to consult with Mordy and hopefully I can get some insight on an appropriate diet for Caiza and his GI issues. Thanks Renee and Sage for the well wishes...My poor boy looks so pathetic. I just gave him his nice clean bed out of the dryer and he is all curled up on it snoozing. I hate when he doesn't feel good.

I'm so sorry for you and Caiza going through this misery. Jesus, I feel terrible when Manni just has the runs. I can only imagine ...

Give Caiza an extra belly rub from me and Manni!

Poor guy! I'm glad he's sleeping soundly at home and you have some idea of what's going on with him. Give him a nice hug from me. My suggestions were either California Natural or the Canidae Chicken&Rice or Lamb&Rice.

Thanks Irot and Zoom :) I just fed him his small breakfast of boiled white rice and hamburg and he was thrilled to finally eat. He hasn't had anything since Thursday night..............:( I put him back in his crate to keep him quiet and let him rest with all his pillows and blankets. He is being so pathetic and is loving all the attention he is getting. I also emailed Mordy for a consultation :)

Does he know what's causing this? Poor dog. I think the consult will be great. When Lyric was throwing up a lot when I first discovered his liver problem, the vet had me give him white turkey meat, white rice (2 parts rice to 1 part turkey or chicken) and a little low fat cottage cheese or fat free. That can't go on forever, as there are many thing missing from it but until you get your consult. I found that real rice was gagging Lyric as it's sooooo sticky and gross so I used minute rice.

Anyhow, Mordy told me that excessive amounts of rice had a lot of maganese in it....hard on his lousy liver so now he has tapioca instead. She fixed me up with a diet especially for his problem and he's doing well. It's a real pain....it's like cooking Thanksgiving dinner every week and VERY expensive. He has a kazillion suppliments to go with it.

Besides getting a consult and good diet going for Caiza, do you think the cause of his problem will be discovered and treated? Did the vet have any ideas as to what it might be?

Give Caiza lots of hugs from me......(that is, if he likes hugs, eh-hem....I wouldn't want to intrude on his sleep) LOL. He sounds so comfy right now.
