Is to get the ok to start getting him into Rehab. It will take dad to Jacksonville but once he gets there its on the road to REAL recovery. He is only one stage away from Florida Brain and Spinal to take his case and help get him into rehab and everything. We already picked the facility and everything he just has to be aware enough to go and hes ALMOST there. We are at a turning point. He was a pretty solid 2 on the glasgow coma scale when he came home. He was doing SOME of the things a 3 should be doing but not many. Now he is a SOLID 3. He is doing EVERYTHING a 3 should and FBS picks you up at a 4. He MAY even be doing things a 4 should be doing. It looks that way to US but a professional has to tell us for real. She should be coming out when we get his wheelchair and wrist splints at any point now. They were ordered a month and a half ago we are just waiting on paperwork to go through.

He is totally aware these days. Cant respond but he KNOWS that you are there and watches you the entire time. He can follow his food and remote with his eyes, he will follow people when they are walking around the room. He loves to sit and stare at Morgan and Bev and watch Bev play. He can also watch tv. He knows when you walk away. If you walk out of his eye sight he will start vocalizing LOUDLY until you get to where he can see you. He gets aggitated when you wash his face and gets moody when his teeth havent been brushed. He throws a FIT when you have to put a diaper on him or clean him. He sits there and makes grumbly noises the ENTIRE time

He has pulled his feeding tube out (which is a bad thing BUT shows he is moving his arms) he will raise his arms randomly but we dont think its a reflex with how it happens.

Needless to say the improvements are AMAZING and more then any doctor thought he would do :). He will NOT be in this state for life. He makes daily improvements and is slowly getting to rehab.

We are hoping when his therapist comes that the things he are doing classifys him a 4 and that it doesnt have to be more. He will follow commands and everything with his eyes which is part of what they need for rehab. He very obviously sleeps and is awake. I never thought he would be at this point from how they were talking I thought for SURE we would be making some choices for him. I never imagined this is what I would see when I came down.

Anyway if you read all this you deserve a cookie LOL.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, vibes and good thoughts. Without them I dont think we would be where we are today. His recovery at this point is just short of a miracle.

Thanks :D

((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

Also soon he will have a ramp at home to go with his wheelchair so MAYBE we can take him outside when he has to be in the chair. (it clears his lungs better to sit up at least 2 hrs a day as well as flexes those muscles)

We are just waiting to hear if the materials will be donated by Lowes or not. We already got the ok from the Mayor of the city (had some friend connections to him :D ) to build whatever we want and need for dad and General Contractors already promised their time.

He has a speech therapist on standby and a massuese on standby to give us the tools when he is ready.
All volunteering their time for free :hail: I LOVE where im from its the kind of place that reminds you how life SHOULD be.

Thank you everyone. It really is Grace I knew there was some improvement and they told me some of it but I didnt expect to the extent that he has. Im just completely amazed. Its truly a testament to what my stepmom is doing at home with him over the hospital as well IMO. She puts in alot of hours working with him and researching the little things that help him. Like bright colors talking to him like normal telling him exactly what you are doing. The simple things. We are now starting to work with him with some of Morgans retired toys (wrist rattles and such) to see if it will help with recognition and cognition. Im sooooooooooooo happy Kerry stepped up and gave up everything to do home care. I dont think he would have improved ANY in a nursing home.

Excellent news. Your stepmother is awesome; my hat's off to her. I hope, hope, HOPE that your dad has improved to the point where he can go to rehab. He's really an amazing man to have fought his way this far!

Yes he is. She is as well. Hes lucky to have her. We may have hated eachother before the accident but now I see how much he means to her and how wrong I was in some cases.
