I guess this would be loyalty? I am brain dead tonight.

I just got done bawling after watching a dateline on my dvr. It was about a woman murdered for her property on some gorgeous island. It kept showing her red male dobe while they were talking at the beginning.

After she disappeared the dobe would swim to another mans home over and over and no one could figure out why. When the police finally searched the property they found the dog there and it led them to her grave:(

This dog just looked so heartbroken when they showed him at the end.

I love dogs. Some people are not that loyal when someone goes missing.

I know there are so many stories about dogs sitting on peoples graves or waiting for them somewhere. Its made me hug all of my mutts a little more tonight.

Any other stories?

Sounds like a typical dobe - so loyal it almost seems supernatural. And people say that no one breed can be known for "loyalty."

Wow! THAT is devotion for sure.

Ever seen the movie Hacihko? (I don't know if I spelled that right - it may have been Hachi). Richard Gere was in the movie, but it was based off the true story of the Akita in Japan. That movie is for a TRUE dog lover. There is nothing more pure than that bond between dog and man.

I cried and cried and cried. You think Marley & Me is sad? This, hands down, beat it!

What a sad, sad story. Yeah, Dobermans are just absolutely lost without their human. Lots of dogs are. But Dobermans are so particularly bred to be attached like glue to their master, so that doesn't surprise me how the dog didn't give up for so long trying to find her.

A lot of people want a dog that will bond strongly to ONLY them; they're dissappointed, for example, when their dog goes off with somebody else with no concern of where their owner is. But personally, I like that Luna is comfortable with other people. I know that if something were to happen to me, she'd adapt and be just fine.
